Here we go!

I am trying to crochet my fairy but struggling with the arms at the moment. Meri, I have finished my meme, and tagged a few more people, including dizzyday and lucykate

Phew! I am glad to hear it!
Back to school for us too next week - about blooming time

rantingwageslave · 01/04/2008 11:47

She wanted the bag too, I held firm. 'No I took you to 3 museums last week, absolutely not!'
Love the fabric, where did you get it, is it what I think it is?

meridian · 01/04/2008 13:22

everyone has been so busy.. i will never catch up... beign dragged off to Matlock Bath in a few minutes.. to wander around and so DH and DS can have fish and chips...

craft wise though

Make a red bracelet/necklace for my other friend in cali.
make assorted cards
make a small crafting kit, for hotel downtime while on holiday
um other stuff... oops got to go

Miaou · 01/04/2008 13:27

If I had a brain, I would have thought that my doll would have done for the vintage swap

Ah well, too late now! It hadn't turned into a flapper girl until after the swap anyway. I think I must have been subconsciously influenced

Dds and I are busy photographing bears and toys for ebay just now. We are doing lots of nice shots against fabric backgrounds. Don't care if we make money or not, we are having fun!

Am fiddling with my crochet pattern too, trying to make the hands bulge a little, but overdid it and she currently has huge balls on the end of her arms

I have a name for her too but I'm not telling you lot yet

well i'm back but only because we aren't going anywhere.. DS poorly so have put him to bed...he has a cold but just to complicate things he has had a small rash on his chest for a week, this morning it was worse so took him to the docs, doc says its probably "Molluscum Contagiosum" a sort of wart virus thing... I feel wretched like its my fault he has picked up this, most likly at swimming. it could be something else but i don't know.. I feel like my parents are going to look down at me for not taking care of DS well... gonna go get a drink and pull out some crafting stuff so I don't get too stressed about it...

vInTaGeVioLeT · 01/04/2008 14:26

oh meridian - do not feel guilty that's a very very common condition and i think they just go on their own - i know loads of kids with it.
anyway taking ds swimming makes you officially a "good mum"

Gingermonkey · 01/04/2008 15:01

Meri - stop it right now! You are not a bad parent at all!!! My niece has had that, and it went after a while (hers was yukky, it was all over her back), my DD used to have warty things spring up all the time, and the doc said they were part of being a child.
Listen to VV - she's a wise nursey type

lucykate · 01/04/2008 15:01

meri, don't fret, molluscum is really common in kids, there are loads of threads on here about it in health

anyone up for the 2nd annual softie awards, here?

Miaou · 01/04/2008 15:27

Aw meri, dd1 had those on her face (still has one on her neck), ds1 had them on his penis and scrotum and still has some on his tummy and one on his arm - you are not a bad parent! Virtually unheard of when we were kids, they are very common these days. These is no way of avoiding them, honestly, unless you never ever come into contact with other kids!

Well I have registered miaoucrafts on etsy, and dh has applied for a credit card so that I can sell things on there! . Am going to build up a portfolio first though.

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 01/04/2008 15:46

Ooh - will send necklace today or tomorrow then! I really hope you like it

Whizzz · 01/04/2008 15:46

oooooooo

I've just got a Challenge swap mystery bag from the Bead Buddies forum. I have to make something with it & it's a very strange combination indeed!

meridian · 01/04/2008 15:49

bless you all.. you are lovely people... think im' just a bit stressed about it.. have been sitting drawing some doodles on some cards for my giveaway winners.. and for jg's bracelet.. so jsut need to take packages to the post office in a bit.. am crying now at your niceness... i know its isn't prefentable but i feel like I should have been on gaurd against it...

will get a cup of coffee/tea then and might get my beads out of DH doesent grumble.. think i would tangle any knitting and if i get the paints out well I geuss it would be a dark phase.. which makes you wonder as most of my recent paintings are darkish...

meridian · 01/04/2008 19:01

feeling a bit better now, have made a bracelet for my best friend and uploaded my favourite picture of DS taken last year in a Starbucks in Seattle.

emo boy in training?

going to do some blog hopping then veg out infront of a movie.

Miaou · 01/04/2008 19:40

OP posts:
champs · 01/04/2008 19:48

awww what a cutie!!

sorry to repeat my self but would y'all buy edible items from etsy and how do you price up your "goods" ?

Gingermonkey · 01/04/2008 19:59

meri - that boy is far too beautiful . I love that photo!!!

JackBlackRoady · 01/04/2008 20:02

hi all, i've just read the last 200 messages! phew, that was mammoth!

LK - so pleased about your DD and I love the shop!

Tillyboo - glad you are back (will email you) and WOW bright bunny!

meridian - hope you are feeling better {{{hugs}}}

miaou - i like the name miaoucrafts better!

I have been forwards and backwards to the hospital recently, i had to have a pile of pregnancy checkups and DH managed to burn his foot quite badly. so i have done no crafting, no blogging and very little reading MN - . so anyway i hope to finish a cross stitch i started ages`ago at the end of this week. fingers crossed...

lucykate · 01/04/2008 20:02

champs i would buy edibles from etsy, as far as pricing goes, it's difficult to say. it's a case of seeking out the competition, looking at all their prices and comparing, and placing yourself within them as to where you see yourself fitting.

you can work it out based on materials, time etc, but with handmade items, you do need to take into account what a customer is willing to pay. once you have an established client base, you then start slowly pushing the prices up, hth

have just made another sale on etsy, that's 3 in less than a day!!

rantingwageslave · 01/04/2008 20:04

Meri, he's gorgeous! Truly and what a lovely photo.
Nbg thank you, that's great.
GM, you should know that we were sitting at the dinner table having tea this evening when suddenly dd piped up, 'that Gingermonkey's a very kind lady, isn't she mum'. Out of the mouths of babes eh?

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 01/04/2008 20:07

Oh LK - well done, that's fab!

Nbg - I sent your lariat today, first-class recorded. I really hope you have it tomorrow! It went about 4pm from a Post Office.

I have nearly finished my labradorite and pearl necklace - it just needs a few more labradorite chips, or something extra to pad it out a little. I went to Tiptree to buy beads and cross-stitch skeins, but forgot my list of thread colours . So, I ended up buying loads of beads. Then I went to the Range, and bought two small 16 drawer things for my beads!

Meri - what a cutie, and a fab photo too!

lucykate · 01/04/2008 21:20

look, more copying here even 'wee wonderfuls' are getting ripped off!

dizzyday07 · 01/04/2008 21:49

LK - read that blog entry. In this case it'sa big org. that's done the copying and they'll rely on the independent crafter not having the time or money to take them to court etc to contest the IP

lucykate · 01/04/2008 21:59

it looks like thats the case, but usually, big companies don't do this as they have much more to loose. a big built up reputation and client base for a start, if their products were proven to be ripped off, it is not good press.

i hope hillary does pursue this with them, wee wonderfuls is one of the most well known blogs, the name is trade marked, and the patterns are properly copyrighted, i have one here on my desk and have looked.

Nbg · 01/04/2008 22:27

I think thats utterly distgusting LK.

Like dd said, that company knows full well that a small independant seller could never do anything about that.
Or the chances are slim anyway.

Thats made me really cross

Just out of interest has anyone looked at the toys that Habitat are selling?
Have a look online. I'm sure I've seen a few of them elsewhere
