Hi Meri.
Sounds like your having fun.
Your not missing much here. The weather is pants

GM lovely giveaway items.

I havent been on since the last time I posted because we all have some horrid virus thing thats knocked us all for six.
I have no idea what it is but it makes you want to sleep alot, every part of you hurts, and theres a hacking cough to go with it.
The kids have had temp spikings all weekend and up until today.
Poor ds spent the whole day asleep on our bed yesterday.
It is not nice.

So as a result GM, I havent posted your cheque yet but will do so asap along with your lights.

Could I also ask a huge favour from you all?
Would you all so kindly put a little mention of the doll swap on your blogs?
Theres 6 participating so far but the close date is Saturday but it would be great to get lots more involved.
Even with the 6 we have theres a huge variety in the dolls so it would be lovely to see more.
TIA

we've had a great day at twin lakes, kids knackerd so early bath for all, then am going to spend some time catching up with everyones blogs and do some sewing later, am feeling much better today, yipeeeeeeee!!!!

ranting · 15/04/2008 19:56

Oh nice to hear you're having a good time Meri.
Nbg, going to do a blog post in a minute so will link to your challenge and of course sign up. I said I would , just haven't got round to it yet. Miaou, head nearly done, got to go to habby stall for eyes tomorrow and GM, am getting on with your owl. Dd been busy with ballet etc but hopefully I can email you with a choice shortly.

Miaou · 15/04/2008 22:41

Great stuff ranting - don't forget to leave the head unfinished until you have inserted the eyes because they are a bugger to do if you finish the head and stuff it first (not that I have done that, you understand )

I took photos today of three WIPs, but for some reason I can't load them onto flickr so no blogging for me today! Very frustrating.

And my patterns arrived! Just need to get thread and fusible interfacing, then I'm going to get started

LK, so glad you are feeling better today!

Nbg - I've added the link to your Doll Swap on my blog - but as I don't get many visitors I can't see it being of much help!!

I've emailed you too with my details but let me know if it doesn't come through

Tillyboo · 16/04/2008 17:05

Afternoon ladies, I just thought I'd share my weekly challenge with you all. Let me introduce ....

'Princess and the Pea' with you all.

She took me quite a while to make, very fiddly indeed but I think it's turned out well. She's quite a biggy at almost 18" tall but hey, I had to fit all the mattresses in didn't I !

She's going in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested ?

OK - I have a request, particularly from the sewers amongst us all! I need a bag to go with my wedding outfit (see patterns on my blog, link in previous post!). I need it to be big enough to hold two washable nappies and a travel change mat, wipes etc, plus the usual phone, purse and probably a couple of toys. It needs to be a shoulder bag and probably in the same material as my outfit (because I have loads of it!), which is pale green wild silk. I would also like it to be a feminine design, rather than boxy, if that's possible! If you have any ideas for style/design, please let me know, I have no idea where to go with it

OP posts:
ranting · 16/04/2008 21:11

Something like this, maybe?

ranting · 16/04/2008 21:15

Or maybe this with a nice lining, I do like a bag with a.....

ranting · 16/04/2008 21:17

Or this

ranting · 16/04/2008 21:20

Actually, scrap them this is the nicest one imho.

ranting · 16/04/2008 21:22

Actually I might make that myself.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 16/04/2008 21:54

miaou dizzyday sent me this link
lovely bag which links to a great tutorial.
i wish i could sew 'cause there's some great bag paterns out there.

Miaou · 16/04/2008 22:08

jordy bag is def my favourite - might try that one!

love the one in your link too vv but think it's too casual for a wedding - might make one for everyday though!

sorry about typing - am b/fing!

dizzyday07 · 16/04/2008 23:01

I love the look of the bag on the front of this book and I don't "do" bags!!

chrissnow · 17/04/2008 08:13

Tilly - Princess is fantastic. Do Cinderella next? Double sided - in rags on one side and in ball finery on the other? Or Sleeping Beauty? Or Hansel and Gretel (mmm Gingerbread/sweetie house yum).
Ranting - It's you!!! Am trying to line my bag and its proving a pita. But now I am obsessed that it will look nicer and more pro so I've got to keep trying. Those bags are brilliant. I want to make a change bag (a good useful one. Not the crap that the manufacturers seem to believe to be in any way useful!!) I've got about 8 months to do it because . . . . . .

My SIL is pg (early days I know but I'm dead excited) I found a lovely pattern for some bootie/shoes in this weeks Let's Knit. And I have a baby blanket design in my head that I'll try out (Hark at me. Been knitting all of 3 weeks and now I fancy myself as a designer. Hey ho I can but try).

I've managed to make some little teeny weeny lavender pouches from this ball of wool I had. It was such a lovely lavender colour and I have a big lavender plant in the garden so it seemed to make sense (wonder if I could use that for my inspiration piece . ..?) The mojo is slowly coming back (with my will to live dragging along behind )

Sorry for the long post - I haven't been on for ages.
