Dior - it's on my to do list. I'll email you later when the munchie is tucked up in bed

Tillyboo · 10/04/2008 20:52

Where has everyone been today ? Have you all been abducted by Crafting Aliens ?

I'm bored ... was meant to be swimming tonight but my swim partner is still in London presenting to St Pancras Station (design work) with my hubby, so he's not here either.

Ho Hum, will go look in the fridge AGAIN ...

I'm so tired tonight I think I'll just lie on the sofa in the quiet & get my doodle pad out as I want to design a new logo for my 23Beechhill stationery.

ranting · 10/04/2008 20:56

Im still here, haven't done much crafting today though, been in a bit of a deep blue funk today.(Too complicated to go into, it's sorted now). Done half a leg of Miaous' flapper girl though, which I'm quite chuffed about.

ranting · 10/04/2008 21:37

Actually am considerably cheered by the news that dh has just booked two tickets for saturday for me and ds to see the camden town group exhibition. Am quite looking forward to it, it has been a while since ds and I spent the day together.

Tillyboo · 10/04/2008 21:39

Hi Ranting - thought I was all on my little lonesome today .

I've just blogged my finished Collage painting.

My weekly challenge for this week is complete - PHEW !

ranting · 10/04/2008 21:42

I love that, it's very pretty. Would look lovely on dds' wall.

ranting · 10/04/2008 21:45

this is what I'm so excited about. Also thinking I may take my trip to the V&A tomorrow.

Miaou · 10/04/2008 21:55

Hello chaps. Just been to Tae Bo and I'm knackered! Sipping a glass of red wine waiting for ds2 to wake up for a feed. I had him weighed yesterday and he is below the 2nd centile , which was a big surprise (though I'm not worried, particularly, he is only wee!).

Ranting - I love the look of that exhibition! And at going to the V&A. In my dreams, I win a trip to London and spend a week immersed in there I just love it! And I'm v. excited about the doll - do let me know if you have any probs with the pattern - I can give you my phone number and we can talk it through if necessary

Tillyboo - I love your collage! I keep mulling over in my mind the idea of doing a collage for Meri's Inspiration Challenge, but haven't got anywhere with it yet.

I am now about 2/3 of the way through my boy Amigurumi doll, still at the stage, but I think I am starting to love it now. However I am struggling with writing the pattern because I have mixed my wool types so will have to make a version 2 to get the pattern right. Argh.

I really want to get my felted tea cosy finished, but ds2 is feeding so much in the evenings at the moment that I can't get it out for more than 10 mins before I have to abandon it all again. Mum's birthday is in 3 days - I think it is going to be a late present!

NBG - sorry to hear about the fair, what a pisser! Good for you for being so honest with your feedback though

Miaou, so far, so good, had a brief read through and it looks fairly error free but, yes, I'll email you to swap numbers.
Actually, one to ponder on (am off to bed now) a friend of mine passed last month and although our family made a small donation to MacMillian nurses, I'd quite like to knit some squares or something to donate to a cancer charity but, I can't find any that do it. Any ideas?
And if you're really lucky I may get you a camden painters postcard while I'm there.

Miaou · 10/04/2008 22:07

Ooooooooh > I will put it in my Happy Book if you do!!!

Do you have a hospice nearby? Would they appreciate a blanket made of knitted squares? Or do they perhaps have a team of volunteers who do such a thing (often hospices seem to have crafty people like yourself who like to donate things to make the place look/feel nice) who you could get in touch with. Just a thought.

Tillyboo · 10/04/2008 22:12

Ooh, lucky you Ranting. I am going up (or rather across) to London next month with my friend for her birthday. We want to hit the V&A and all the other galleries and museums.

I can't wait. I also want to go to Spittlefields market, Covent Garden, see a show maybe ?

Note to self - get some proper walking trainers !

Miaou - What is Tae Bo ?

Whizzz · 10/04/2008 22:12

hello all, not posted on here for what seems like ages as I have done very little crafting this week. However I have just started another crochet lariat (only because I love crocheting chains!) - this ones in white with lime green beads.

Nbg - craft fairs can often be poo in my experience, but I think you have to tell yourself the next one will be better! I'm still a bit nervous about this marquee one I am doing at the end of May.

Miaou · 10/04/2008 22:46

It's like a cross between kick boxing and aerobics (I think!). It's either that or Step or Pilates on offer in my town (tis only a small place) and I didn't fancy pilates, and step is supposedly harder, but Tae Bo finishes me off totally so I couldn't manage that!

Here - Tae Bo (I am not that muscley though )

OP posts:
dizzyday07 · 10/04/2008 23:11

Miaou - I'm a kickboxer (just failed my black belt but I do have a Tae Bo video that I keep meaning to get out and join in with!!

Perhaps if I had done it I would have been fitter and leaner and passed

chrissnow · 11/04/2008 08:23

Ranting - sorry to hear about your friend. Is that why you've been in a 'funk'? I've been in one of those recently. That's why I've done so little crafting. I think I'm safer not picking up knitting needles!! I tried to do a bag charm yesterday. It was all very dark blue and green and a bit somber and never got finished as the demon children were playing up. Even though I'd bought them new pens/pencils/books glue etc. They were fighting with each other. Driving me mad
Miaou - Haven't had my dd2 weighed for ages, but I'd be amazed if she was on the 2nd centile. She is 20 months and still wearing some 9-12 month clothes, mostly 12-18 month now, but it is all long on her. She is such a wee wee thing but she is really bright and a real live wire (i.e. a little sod who has no fear and is into everything) so I'm not worried.

Girls - Given that I haven't actually crafted anything for ages now and don't seem likely to for a while, I think perhaps I should step away from the thread. It's almost like sitting in a weightwatchers class eating pork scratchings and a chocolate cake!!

I just seem to have lost my mojo

vInTaGeVioLeT · 11/04/2008 08:48

chris - i had really lost my "mojo" but i joined in with a couple of swaps on here and it's really put the spark back for me , having a deadline and a theme and also knowing a little about the recipient makes it quite exciting - look out for the next one and join in or be really brave and find a swap on a crafty blog.

oops

lucykate · 11/04/2008 08:55

chrissnow, sorry to read that, can sympathise with you, i'm feeling a bit like i've lost my mojo atm. i'm now full of a cold and cannot stop sneezing, am taking ab's for tonsillitis, antihistamine for hayfever, eyedrops for itchy eyes, paracetamol for headache etc.

have 2 projects i must finish, entry for softie awards and a felted bag for my mil's birthday, which is on sunday so it's going to be late already , but with being ill and the kids off school/nursery, i haven't had the time or energy.

my bloglines list of unread posts is up to about 700 now, i have loads of emails that need replying to but can't seem to get motivated. am going out in a bit with the dc's, need to do a bit of shopping and then take them to the park, maybe that will help clear my head a bit.

Miaou · 11/04/2008 09:03

lk, I have just been on the phone to my mum, whose birthday is also on Sunday, to tell her her birthday present will be late too - there must be something in the air! Sorry you are feeling so flat, you and chrissnow. Persevere chrissnow, we all hit this plateau occasionally. If you haven't the courage to join in a swap, then pad out your blog with links etc. I play "blog tag" - follow a random link from a blog (start with someone on here!), then follow a random link on their blog, and so on - you find some amazing stuff that way. I have links on my blog to some rather random people as a result!!

Mum just told me that she has a lovely green jumper she has just fished out of the bag to go to charity which she will felt for me - lovely, another project to work on! I have some ideas for that one too

dizzy, i spotted your entry in the softie awards on flickr, have you tagged it though? (it didn't seem to have one when i looked), it needs a tag as to which category it's entered in. would hate for it to be missed out of the judging if it's not tagged properly.

jeangenie · 11/04/2008 10:33

hi all, made it back safely from Ireland. My dad is doing well. It was lovely to spend some quiet quality time with him. He goes for his next test on April 24th where they will see whether the many meds he is on have helped the situation so keep your fingers crossed. I also drove half way across the country to spend her birthay evening with my older sister. My brother was there too so we had a lovely time together. I thought of you tillyboo as my sister lives on the curragh, very close to the racetrack. I watched my nephews playing soccer in an under 12s league match out on the curragh, surrounded by trees, sheep and horses. Was quite beautiful. DD1 (who I took with me) was enthralled (tho' not too fond of the sheep poo )

no crafting but will pick up my knitting again tonight in preparation for taking it to France when we go on Sunday (oooh, what a jetsetter I am ) I am planning to teach the friend we are going to stay with to knit while I am there...should be amusing!

ooh, before I forget VV your package was waiting when I got back - gorgeous stuff, thanks. Will be in touch (and again - I LOVE all your peripheral stuff - really retro and very cute indeed!)

dizzyday07 · 11/04/2008 10:54

LK - thanks - I thought I had tagged it!! But I think I've done it properly now

Tillyboo · 11/04/2008 11:19

Dior - Oops ! the biscuit crumbs jammed the keys, have emailed you back. There is a number missing

JG - Glad you had a lovely time in Ireland. I love Ireland and cannot wait to go back - I think it rates as possibly my top 2 of holidays ever. I've been to the Curragh and the stud, amazing.

Sorry to here so many mojo's have gone awol. Take a break and come back fresh - joining in the swaps is good advice too. They give you focus and a purpose and with the theme already decided it's a nice way of easy yourself back in gently.

Miaou - where did that bloke get his shorts. he looks like the incredible hulk. The workout looks really good though.
