have been to docs this afternoon, and i have tonsillitis!!!, i can't believe it, i've never had tonsillitis in my life. still can't swallow without wincing but at least have antibiotics now.

jeangenie · 03/04/2008 23:10

ripped the forecast

made the "3" brooch (a strawberry - will blog tomorrow)

off to bed now [snoozy icon]

LK - poor you - I remember having that when young - is rotten. ABs should knock it out quick though

miaou - love tilly!

chrissnow · 04/04/2008 07:39

LK - aw poor you. I used to get it horrendously as a kid and had the darned things removed. It really knocks you about doesn't it. I was always prescribed anti-biotics and . . . icecream (had a lovely old fella of a GP when I were wee).
Miaou - I love your dolls, they're so cute.
GM - So you must live fairly close to the Morrisons then?
VVV - I am also dead jealous of the yarn. Just buy it and learn to knit!! (That's exactly what I've done) Its actually not that hard. Videojug has a brilliant collection of short videos to teach you.
Jeangenie - I want to see the strawberry. (hungry now!!)
Oh and all of you - no no please don't rush to look at my first every jewellery attempt . I posted it yesterday and no-one's looked. Or they have and it's crap and you're being polite. Will go away now and lick my wounds. then I'll stop being childish. (sorry, having a bad couple days)

Miaou · 04/04/2008 08:00

Oh I DO like that, chrissnow - I'm not a jewellry person really but I could see myself wearing something like that. Very pretty colours!

Ds2 decided to get up at 11.30pm last night - and was still going strong at 1.15am! At which point I decided to throw in the towel and go to bed - he however continued to sing and roll around in his cot!! Argh. Am knackered this morning.

OP posts:
chrissnow · 04/04/2008 08:02

I know the feeling!
sorry for being a bully earlier

Miaou · 04/04/2008 08:19

Oh don't worry chrissnow - I forgot to take a look earlier, glad you reminded me! Don't be afraid to shout up when you make something - PICTURES ON MY PROFILE type of thing - I always do a link in my post if I have done something new, even if there are already several links on the thread - best way!

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 08:39

Miaou - love the doll. She is even cuter in smaller form!

Chrissnow - very pretty!

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 08:39

LK - hope you feel better soon

chrissnow · 04/04/2008 12:31

There's nothing more than an introduction at the moment. But at least I'm part of the 'gang' now!!

Miaou · 04/04/2008 12:58

I have left you your first comment chrissnow

Whizzz · 04/04/2008 14:55

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 15:10

Ooh Whizz - will investigate more thoroughly when ds is in bed! Thanks for that link.

Chrissnow - I have left you a comment too!

I have blogged a...wait for it...CARD . Also a pair of ear-rings! Here they are

chrissnow · 04/04/2008 15:19

Thanks for the comments girls. I feel all special now!!
No crafting happening here really. Mostly sleeping (I know with bright sunshine outside - disgusting {shock])
I need to buy some thread/wool to sew my bag together. I'm assuming you're supposed to use the same wool you've knitted in - It's just too thick and won't go through. I even tried splitting it in half (I think the experience knitters will clap hands to foreheads as they realise what happened there ). I'm just knitting the strap for it. which bizarrely is turning out to be harder than the bag and it's only four stitches wide.
Nice earrings Dior - Very 70's retro (in a good way)

meridian · 04/04/2008 15:20

right you haven't seen me..I'm not here.. I'm baing a good girl and packing suitcases and cleaning the house...

jg- so happy that you are happy with the bracelet... that book sounds intresting... doodles are right up my street... might have to add it to my amazon list... only have a few crafts books on there...

oh and been and had my hair cut, so have posh lovely hair today...

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 15:30

Oh and I bought some garnet-y colour seed beads today, as I already have garnet chips. I am going to make a necklace like the grey chip one on my blog. I have started it, but am not sure about it as the bead-weave is more 'open' and not close knit. I'm giving it a bit longer though before taking it apart!

jeangenie · 04/04/2008 16:08

haven't read anything (sorry) but just popping in to tell Meri I'll go with "ginger" if you have time to get to PO today, otherwise I will leave it as I fly out on Monday and would need to be sure would arrive in time...I know you have tonnes on so don't worry if you can't

I will email you too but thought you might see this first!

wore my new bracelet all day...love it

VV buttons arrived - gorgeous - love your packaging - what kind of stamps do you use? I love 'em. And THANK YOU for the little gift, very kind of you

vInTaGeVioLeT · 04/04/2008 18:17

jeangenie i'm glad you liked the buttons well the stamps are all different types i've collected over the years - the smaller ones are from a child's "john bull printing set" i LOVE them!!! look for them on eBay

i'm feeling very very cross i've just had to go to the P.O. with a tired grumpy 3yr old to collect a tiny package because the sender only put a 1st class stamp on it instead of a 48p one and i had to pay £1.24 postage i'd already paid £1 P&P so 10 tiny plastic buttons have cost me £3.23 GgGGRRRrr

but my massive consignment of buttons came today they are stunners

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 19:02

VV - how annoying. Could you not contact them and ask for your postage back as a good will gesture? Especially as you had paid over double the actual cost of the postage anyway!

meridian · 04/04/2008 19:07

jg- sorry I missed this as was cleaning the house..somewhat..
I can post the bracelet to you first thing in the morning, first class etc.. but i don't know that it would get to you in time for your trip.

VV- sorry for your postal woes.. i'm sure the rest of your bead stash will more than make up for it.. would love to see some pics of them..

Whizzz · 04/04/2008 19:09

Can I ask a question oh crafty folk - Do you think that the general public would appreciate expensive lampwork beads ?? I have bught a few beads from a few lampwork artists but they are expensive & I am wondering whether people would even notice a quality bead in a necklace compared to cheaper mass produced ones? YOu can pay £15 a bead easily but I don't think the jewellery buying public would realise the difference (although they obviously look stunning!) eg the main bead in this one

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 19:13

Difficult Whizz. If you could put, 'Lamp Work bead made by xdesignerx ', it might make a few people realise the initial outlay you made. However, in general, I think that you are safer making beautiful necklaces with less expensive beads, in order to realise a profit.

That is just my view though and others may disagree.

Whizzz · 04/04/2008 19:15

I know. I know a few names that I've seen doing lovely stuff on other forums but they names wouldn't mean much to anyone not in the know - apart from looking gorgeous!
I buy them (not at £15 each I must add) but then they are 'too nice' to use !

Whizzz · 04/04/2008 19:17

these are my faves

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 04/04/2008 19:17

Yes, those not in the know would not appreciate the cost as much as you, but mentioning the name on the tag would at least bring it to their attention. They might then think that the extra cost was worth it. Then again....

IMHO, I wouldn't pay more for a lampwork bead. I would pay more for a necklace I loved.
