seems to be something going around LK, hope you get better soon. keep saying i must buy some echinacha(bad spelling!!)

meridian · 03/04/2008 08:06

thank you everyone!... wasn't so great an anniversery though... dinner was leftover banan muffins and cheese on toast DH didn't feel well and DS was fussy all night but is on the mend this morning...have enough beads left to make 1 or 2 bracelets and some earrings today so thought I might do that if DS isn't too "helpful" .. aside from the heaps of laundry ironing, diry floors to vac, beds to make etc, all the stuff that has been ignored all week while everyone is ill....

LK sorry you are getting the lurgy too.. honest it wasn't from us. have a cup of tea with honey and lemon and a bath as hot as you can stand it.

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 08:29

Will try and post later . . . busy day (when is it not?) But just a quicky... Who is it lives in Colchester? We're going on Sat and I'm wondering if there are any treasure troves I need to look out for?!?!

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 03/04/2008 09:07

Chris - It's me! Hmm, there is Buffy Beads in Trinity Street, which sells strings of semi-precious beads. In the same road there is Tyndall's, but it mainly sells 'Do Craft' stuff, which you can get in the range a lot cheaper. There is a FAB craft shop at Tollgate (West Colchester). Web site here. I can really recommend it and the owners are lovely. If you do go, tell them you had a recommendation from the woman who brings her son in sometimes (Max). They should remember me - because I am always telling him not to TOUCH!

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 03/04/2008 09:10

OH, and The Bead Merchant site will be open this Saturday. It is h's birthday, but I am hoping to sneak off for an hour to get some more beads...they are only open one day a month because most of their business is done on-line. Well worth a visit if you like beads, or fancy a go.

meridian · 03/04/2008 09:24

have jsut blogged DS' jelly bean people

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 09:24

Thanks for that man stealer Dior. I should have fun (DH won't!!)
Someone at work called me a granny for knitting during my break . I told him he'd walk funny with knitting needles up his bum and off he went . Random comment I know, but thought I'd share!!

Tillyboo · 03/04/2008 09:39

Just blogged my weeks achievment ...

Something a little bit different for me.

I've got my parents coming tomorrow and my sil and nephew so we'll have a house full. It's dd's b'day party on Sunday so I have 3 days of cleaning, gardening and cooking to to do (boring).

I want to start on my new project but that'll have to wait. In the meantime I have a fairy skirt to run up as dd's party is Fairies and Pirates.

How do you make a skirt ? Help ! I'll just wing it probably ...

Nbg · 03/04/2008 09:42

Whizzz I got my swap today and it is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much.
In fact it matches an outfit I have perfectly

Congratulations Meri and Mr Meri
7 years.
What is the traditional pressie for 7 years?

Started another doll last night. I've cut all the pieces out, I just need to put it together.
But I can feel my jewellery stuff calling out instead

Miaou · 03/04/2008 09:42

ROFL chrissnow, excellent response!!!

Well I have almost finished doll no. 2, she now has a body, face, hair and a dress, just need to do the shoes and knickers now! I'm a bit disappointed in it, as I set the eyes too high up and I can't change them (they are those safety eyes - once on, never off!) but otherwise it looks ok. I have tweaked my pattern too and now it just needs some final touches.

What I really need now is for someone to "test drive" my pattern - it makes sense to me, but would it make sense to someone else? If anyone fancies having a go (or even knows someone who does) then please let me know and I'll email the pattern to you for free! I would say it's suitable for an intermediate crocheter - there is a bit of increasing and decreasing, it is mostly dc stitch with a tiny bit of treble.

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 09:50

tilly - I love the lighthouse. And your dds are beautiful.

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 09:53

the jelly bean people are ace!! Methinks we will have a messy kitchen today!! (hmm maybe I could do some painting at the same time. Need to do my inspiration piece . ..)

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 09:55

Traditional 7th wedding anniversary gifts are made of Copper or Wool.

A Modern Seventh wedding anniversary symbol is a Desk Set.

The flowers associated with the 7th anniversary are Jack-in-the-pulpit

The Gemstone list shows Lapis Lazuli and Onyx associated with this Wedding Anniversary

lucykate · 03/04/2008 10:40

i well and truly have the lurgy, my throat and ears have never been so sore, dh quite relieved i can barely speak he has had to take the day off work and is looking after ds for me.

on the bright side, have made 2 more sales on etsy, i'm almost sold out!, i only listed one brooch, but have got another so, might list that later, 7 sales in 3 days

going to have to bring forward the next range aren't i!

Nbg · 03/04/2008 10:49

Oh massive well done LK.
You must be so pleased.

Blimey Chrissnow you've done your homework

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 10:52

Wow well done LK - bet the owl imposter didn't do that well!!!
Erm cut & pasted from a site I googled!! I use it quite a lot for the many anniversary cards I seem to do.. which reminds me . . . .

meridian · 03/04/2008 11:11

chris- thank you... DS is very proud of his jelly beans.. he has a slight obsession with them... we havent told him but while we are in San Francisco bay area we are going to take him on the Jelly Belly factory tour

we didnt do anything for anniversery but plan to do something while away.. lapis and onyx you say? I can definitly work that ... I happen to know some very nice jewellery stores and will tell DH he jsut has to get me "another" large stone and silver pendant. and i'm sure i can find some beads too...he can have some cds everyone happy..

chrissnow · 03/04/2008 11:15

Meri - surely you're going to lovingly craft him a desk set in copper and wool?

meridian · 03/04/2008 13:22

chris- not sure how well that would be recieved... though I do have quite alot of wool I have been ignoring.

have blogged a bracelet I made about 5 minutes ago. its here am very pleased with it, and am considering keeping it for myself as its lovely.. picture is a tad dark as there is no sun today....

Miaou · 03/04/2008 13:26

that clasp is gorgeous!

Am busy putting bears on ebay with the dds this afternoon so no crafting for me - this is their "home enterprise" project! . However this morning I bought a fab cardi for felting - am going to try hand felting (fulling) this time since I felted the last one together - must finish the first one before I start the next one though!

LK, it was me, sticking my felting needles in your throat last night

OP posts:
chrissnow · 03/04/2008 13:29

meri - as ever its lovely.

Nbg · 03/04/2008 14:31

I lurrrrve that clasp meri.
Tis a gorgeous bracelet.

Miaou how did you manage to felt the jumper together?
What temp did you wash it on?

Well the boys are fast asleep so I decided to start my doll.
It has turned into a right bloody sham and thats putting it lightly.
My sewing machine keeps deciding to change the tension setting on its own so I get half way through stitching something and it goes all loose, the fabric on the back of the head has got a little hole in it and the arms look too fat
Grrrrrrrrrrr

lucykate · 03/04/2008 14:32
