Oh my, the last thread got full! Hope you all find me. The title is rubbish.

Anyway. I'm off to decorate the thread.

Hi, everyone! I had a severe crojo malfunction in the autumn and stepped away for a bit, but things seem to be coming good so I thought I’d stop by and say hello!

I’ve just finished a matching set of infinity scarf and fingerless gloves that I’m very pleased with with, using Cygnet Boho Spirit, which I adored, and now I’m about to crack on with some of the things I got for Christmas and my recent birthday.

First is Luna’s cropped cardigan, from the Harry Potter crochet book that I got for Christmas, then after that I have some lovely soft James C Brett dk with merino yarn to make a fair isle type sweater.

Alongside both of those, I’m both excited and daunted to be starting Sophie’s Universe, having been lucky enough to get gifted both the pattern book and the full yarn pack for the large size blanket. I expect this to take me an absolute age, hence wanting to have other projects on the go at the same time.

Oh, and all of this to be supported by my new Yarn Genie!

Now I need to have a good read and catch up with what everyone else has been up to!

Does this look any better?

Yes - looking good. Although it looks as though you might be missing a corner chain space below where the loop on your crochet hook is in the picture. It's hard to tell from the photo, as the wool is quite chunky, so it's hard to see the gaps. I can see the other 3 corner spaces pretty clearly though.

Hello!
My relative had a new baby just before Christmas and I am quite chuffed with this, my first attempt at a Toft animal. I see them at the Knitting & Stitching shows all the time and never had an excuse to make one before. I was already OK at basic crochet but had only really done bags and baskets before. Her front left flipper is inside out but the baby won’t care!
I found the Toft videos really helpful.

That's beautiful, @Heather37231 !

Nocakeinthishouse · 14/01/2024 19:50

I love seeing all these makes!! You are all so talented, it makes me so happy.

Nocakeinthishouse · 14/01/2024 19:51

@AllProperTeaIsTheft , you found the exact pattern! How did you do that? That has blown my mind!! Xx

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/01/2024 20:08

@Nocakeinthishouse Grin I just googled crochet hippo African flowers! I found a few different ones actually, but happened to pick that one. I don't make toys, as I don't have anyone to make them for (my dc are teenagers) but I absolutely love that one!

Puppupandaway · 14/01/2024 20:38

Hi, hope you don't mind me posting on here. I've been crocheting a while now but I'm a bit stumped by this instruction in my pattern. Can anyone explain it to me?? It's a leaf.

It says.....working into a chain: chain 15 insert the wire, skip the first chain, sc, 12hdc, [3hdc] in the same stitch, 12hdc, sc, ss.

Am I right in thinking I carry on round the chain, so top and bottom? It doesn't mention a new row. It's part of a kit I had off Amazon so it's not always clear. It came with thin wire to make the leaves bendable but I'm not sure about the stitches.

Thank you.

longpathtohappiness · 19/01/2024 12:03

Heather37231 love it! I'm scared to try a toft animal although I would really like to give it a go. I think it would be too hard for me

AllProperTeaIsTheft I will start again!! The baby for this blanket will be 20 by the time j have finished! Ha ha

LucyLoopyLu · 19/01/2024 12:16

@Puppupandaway sorry, I'm a beginner too and I also don't know!

Hopefully someone will be along with more experience.
Do you have a picture of the leaf (from the pattern)?

Puppupandaway · 19/01/2024 12:37

I stumbled across an instagram post which did the exact leaf!! I do have to go all the way round, top and bottom of chain. Thank you though @LucyLoopyLu xxx

Grin That's not just a beginner issue, I assure you! I'm still only halfway through making the jumper I was supposed to make for dd in time for her to go to uni in September!

Nocakeinthishouse · 22/01/2024 16:33

I am seeing African flowers here, there and everywhere!! I’ve got all of the 6 petal ones finished, but need to crack on with 52 5 petal flowers now 😂😂. I am really enjoying it though as I can just do them mindlessly, I don’t need to follow a pattern. How is everyone else getting on?

StillNiceCardigan · 22/01/2024 18:58

I've finished my sweater! Now to make something easy.

RedDiamond · 22/01/2024 19:04

@StillNiceCardigan that is beautiful!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 22/01/2024 19:58

Absolutely stunning, @StillNiceCardigan !

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 22/01/2024 21:06

That’s incredible @StillNiceCardigan, it might not have been easy but it is worth the effort. That is stunning. Makes me want to stick with knitting…

However, my knitting is so slow and my brother has just announced his partner is pregnant and my cousin has just announced too. I’m going to have to do a scrap blanket for one definitely because I can’t afford more yarn at the moment. But I don’t want it to look scrappy. I don’t know how I’m meant to get through all my WIPs with all these new additions!

LucyLoopyLu · 22/01/2024 21:27

@StillNiceCardigan wow, that looks absolutely fantastic!

StillNiceCardigan · 22/01/2024 21:43

Thanks all! I am very pleased with the finished sweater.

Nocakeinthishouse · 23/01/2024 10:29

That is the most beautiful sweater!!! Well done!

RedDiamond · 23/01/2024 11:20

Could do with some advice please! I am just about to start knitting baby cardigans, max 3 months old size. I am at work and forgot my pattern but wanted to order the wool today off Amazon. How many 100gms (or 50gms) do I need to make a baby cardigan approximately? Thank you!

bruffin · 23/01/2024 11:24

Is that 4ply or dk@RedDiamond

RedDiamond · 23/01/2024 11:26

@bruffin It is double knit. 😀

bruffin · 23/01/2024 11:40

I think about 100gm to 150gm
