Oh my, the last thread got full! Hope you all find me. The title is rubbish.

Anyway. I'm off to decorate the thread.

Cute chicken @Morenicecardigans

I got some tiny knitpro needle tips for my birthday this month. Going to finally do my cat sock.

I'm getting sick of the blanket I'm making but it's a gift for a baby who's due next month so I need to persevere!

After that I want to crochet a pumpkin... I've only ever made blankets!

Hi all,

Can I please ask for your expertise on yarn? I'm a crocheter who wants to make some oversized chunky cardigans for myself. I bought some super chunky yarn last year and it's lovely but clearly far too chunky and heavy, the cardigan isn't even finished and it's so heavy! I'm also about a size 16 so I guess the total volume of yarn adds up.

I don't know what weight yarn I should be looking for and I'm also after yarn recommendations, I'd really like cotton but not the sort of stiff ricorumi type feel. I have a store bought cotton knitted jumper so the yarn must exist I guess? Other natural fibres considered too but probably not 100% wool.

This is long and waffly sorry. Help me with soft and drapey natural fibre yarn please!

@christmaspudding43
What is your pattern or do ypu have a picture of the sort of thing you want to make

christmaspudding43 · 30/09/2024 15:03

Something along these lines, mid thigh or a little longer. No pattern, I was thinking of a basic rectangle stitched up with sleeves added for a shrug type thing

A cotton/bamboo blend would be soft and drapey. 100%cotton is often stiff.
I probably wouldn't go bigger than aran for a jumper, but most of mine are DK and end up quite thick.

Hello, can I join? I had a baby four months ago, haven’t done any crafting since and really missing it! I bought some yarn last week and I want to knit DD and her cousin matching bonnets and mittens

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 30/09/2024 17:13

@mumtoababygirl at 4 months I was as bold to start getting done naps in the cot with DD. I would use the morning nap to do housework and the afternoon nap to crochet. I have fond memories of crocheting over her back when she was tiny and contact napping so hopefully you find the time to craft again soon.

RainbowWife · 30/09/2024 17:57

I also have happy memories of crocheting with a little baby too! My first ever blanket, which 14 years later is still very much loved on the sofa. In hindsight, a giant project (nearly double bed size!) for a first timer but it kept me busy during those long evenings.

Enjoy, @mumtoababygirl

I made a start today, and it felt so nice to be doing something “me” again!

I was tempted to buy some more yarn today from an indie dyer I follow on Instagram, the colours are beautiful but it’s a set of 5 mini skeins and I never know what people make with them?

Hmm don't know what I said in my previous post - I asked for opinions on Hobbii ?

Odd. I've ordered from them a couple of times. Some yarn was better than others, but the same can be said of most brands.

Does anyone have any recommendations for quick Christmas crochet items? Now the nights are drawing in I'd like to get back to the crochet but I don't want any long term projects.

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 19/10/2024 19:46

@tizwozliz are you thinking of little presents or decorations?

tizwozliz · 19/10/2024 20:26

Decorations

CrochetBug · 20/10/2024 12:54

I've seen crochet candy cains which look quite cute @tizwozliz , i don't have a specific pattern but Google finds loads.

My mum made me some crochet bunting a couple of years ago which is pretty too.

@tizwozliz I made a stocking garland a couple of years ago, which was good for using up yarn scraps and I just made them until I got fed up. I knew if I got fed up three stockings in, then I could just turn them into gift tags.

I can’t find the pattern I used but it was similar to this.

I like these for quick projects

raffamusadesigns.com/crochet-christmas-ornaments-cal/

And

www.stitchbyfay.com/holiday-patterns/christmas/

And

virkadia.com/category/cutie-collections/#growMeSearch=Christmas

I just make any amigurumi to make random decorations 😂

RainbowWife · 21/10/2024 10:07

I bought 3 Christmas garland patterns from Etsy- trees, stockings and lights.

If anyone wants the patterns DM me your email address, I'm happy to share!
