Oh my, the last thread got full! Hope you all find me. The title is rubbish.

Anyway. I'm off to decorate the thread.

This is the right thread I checked! Did you see 'Have I Got News for You' last night? Munya Chawawa was wearing an absolutely splendid Granny square cardigan. Finally, something I can do is trendy!!! Finished a Granny Hex cardigan (my first clothing) in March.

Hi @Jux , @myrtlehuckingfuge and @YeahComeOnThen ! It's been a bit quiet on here lately, but you are all very welcome!

I started the original first thread. We have bursts of posts and then it goes slowly for a bit! I'm currently making my 18yo dd a complicated dark green cable jumper and it's taking me forever! I'm halfway through the first sleeve. Oof!

Great pic, @YeahComeOnThen ! I didn't see HIGNFY unfortunately, @myrtlehuckingfuge - I have a big stash of granny squares which I'm going to eventually make into a blanket. I seem to say 'eventually' a lot when talking about my craft projects Grin

You have all my sympathy, I hate weaving ends.

I am a beginner, only made a granny square blanket. Could I make this bunny blanket?

Absolutely you can make that blanket! When I was a beginner I had to undo stitches, whole rows, and sometimes I still do! It'll be lovely; enjoy it!

"Oh dear, how annoying" and "bless her, how cute" in equal measure @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally

I haven't done any crochet in forever. My fingers don't like it. It hurts. Sad

That's my problem. I've had to take about a year off to rest my hands and a few morw months as I'd been very ill and couldn't concentrate on the rather difficult pattern I'm trying to do.

To get back into it, I want to make fleeces for dd's plants, so I'm thinking about how to do that. Ithink maybe starting as if it were a hat in a close stitch like single crochets, and then worry about the side opening (for watering) when I get there. I could do a sort of hem with a string/yarn rope inside for tying round. Does that make sense to anyone?

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 24/04/2024 14:56

Makes perfect sense to me @Jux - sounds like a good plan!

tizwozliz · 30/04/2024 15:29

I thought I was done but it's not long enough. It's an attic 24 pattern but I'm using the coast colours with the woodland ripple pattern. I thought this would work fine as I thought the row heights were similar but obviously not. I think I need to make up another 20 or so rows, but that involves trying to work out what yarn I still have enough of and choosing a colour order...

StillNiceCardigan · 30/04/2024 20:22

It's beautiful @tizwozliz I usually just put a border round any blankets that are a little bit too small then I don't need to worry about the pattern.

Hi, can anybody recommend a good Youtube knitting tutorial? My daughter is trying to learn, I haven't any idea. My wife said she'd show her, but lacks patience... She's spent about 5 minutes with her, twice.

Daughter is 11 and pretty good at picking things up online.

Thanks in advance!

Oh great! Thanks very much, there's one a couple of miles away, I'll enquire.

@SinnerBoy If your daughter would prefer online tutorials , or if she wants some more help after getting started at Hobbycraft, I have found Very Pink Knits on You Tube to be very clear and easy to understand.

Hottoffeesauce · 04/05/2024 09:12

Is anyone doing the tiny hexi flower garden blanket from Cherry Heart? I've looked up the yarn she uses but it's dk and size 4mm crochet hook. Yet on her blog she writes about 4ply and 3mm hook. I'm confused!

How do I do popcorn stitch? I've watched YouTube but still don't get it

bruffin · 11/05/2024 11:07

I done my weaving 😆 however somehow managed to damage one centre.😪
Its not seperate hexagonal, you join as you go . I think i can repair it.
Its only the second thing i have every crocheted, so a bit ambitious really. Hopefully my niece likes itvfor her new baby

I love crafting communities. Everyone is always so enthusiastic and positive. Never any snark....

Am in between projects currently but wanted to share with you a gift I receive from a friend recently - for all you Patrick fans 😁

(Just realised this is the knit and crochet forum, not the stitchy forum, so perhaps you are not Patrick fans. Although, in my experience knitting is a gateway drugs to other crafty pursuits...)

Hi everyone, I'd be grateful if anyone could help me understanding a pattern please. I'm trying to make a lacy shawl, instructions for the third row are: " k2, yarn forward, slip 1,k1, psso, repeat from to last stitch, K1". My question is, having brought yarn to front of work before s1, do I then return it to the back of the work before k1??
