hi all!!

whizzz, i agree with dingle, let them know that you had agreed already for beads.

dingle beautiful card as usual!!

I am trying to keep up with you all and your crafting!! you are so productive.

I have been bitten by a new bug... here's some piccies

Gingermonkey · 26/03/2008 18:36

me too whizzz. I would say that too.

Dior and Dingle - just think, we could have all been there, hanging out in Dukes. Me drinking a taboo and lemonade (as was my want in those days). What about Hollywoods in Romford? Anyone go there? And the market in Romford too - I was a huge fan of a shoe stall. Looking back it was proper nasty but I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And, I'll have you know, Colchester had a posh house of fraser type department store (was it house of fraser? I think it was) and sold fancy designer labels (not that me and my friends ever bought anything - we just oohed and aahed, then went to River Island if we were feeling a little bit flush...or the charity shops if we weren't. I nearly went to Essex uni...then I thought I should really get a grip and move away..so I went to HULL!!! (I have never fully understood what possessed me when I took their offer). Now my friends from home go to Bluewater if they want a posh day out. Bless 'em. I have pointed out London is just as easy to get to...but it's a bit big, innit?

LOL GM, how's this for weird - I had two consecutive boyfriends who studied philosophy at Hull uni (didn't meet them there!). So I have fond memories of the Student Union bar there.

Small world ... I bet we are all connected to each other somehow, however distantly!

Miaou · 26/03/2008 19:12

(PS I agree about the beads too Whizzz, just say very politely, it's very kind of you to offer jewellery but I would like to stick with your original offer, thank you very much!

Miaou · 26/03/2008 19:43

OK folks, I need some ideas. A good friend's little girl is in hospital (has been in and out over the w/e and this week), friend is obviously v. upset and worried. Have been messaging with her dh (he is stuck at home/work and they are about 100 miles away in hospital) - when she comes home (hopefully tomorrow) she has to stay away from other people for a while. This on top of my friend having had cancer and now under investigation for abdominal problems - they are having a REALLY tough time.

I want to make them something that shows I am thinking of them (particularly the baby and the mum) - but quickly - so that they have it in the next few days - what can I do? Any thoughts?

meridian · 26/03/2008 19:57

gingermonkey and I watch way to many of the same movies and shows.. its quite scary...

you didn't by chance watch the x-files alot back in the day GM?

the x-files brought DH and I together very long story. well probably not that long just ever so slightly geeky

Nbg · 26/03/2008 19:58

Corr, its taken me ages to catch up with you lot!

I havent done much crafting at all.
Had a go at making a felt brooch since thats the in thing atm
I also had great plans to make a robot softie from my lush nuno fabric.

Well I made it but its totally crap.
I could cry its that bad.
lol.
Never mind. At least I'll learn by my mistakes.

Nbg · 26/03/2008 20:00

Miaou what about a blanket or something like that?
Have you got time to do that?

meridian · 26/03/2008 20:01

miaou- that sounds terrible.. i don't know what to say to make... aside from cards and things.. maybe a little blanket or one of those lavender heat bags.. they are a comfort and my ds likes to snuggle down with one every night... its quite thoughtful and quick to make if you can sew (unlike me, DS's one is this awful plaid one that we were given, he loves it though)

rantingwageslave · 26/03/2008 20:01

Miaou, you could draw something, maybe a flower of hope or something (not sure which flowers represent hope), am sure I remember reading somewhere that you're an artist, correct me if I'm wrong. You could frame it.

meridian · 26/03/2008 20:04

nbg- I am so behind i have totally given up... i have been baking again but have done half a felt brooch... friday is my day to get stuff done. honest I will.

robot sounds intresting... oh and DS has given me conjuntivitis in my left eye.. isn't that nice.

rantingwageslave · 26/03/2008 20:07

Yum, apple betty, I love Apple betty.

meridian · 26/03/2008 20:08

ranting- it was DH's birthday.. er pie

Gingermonkey · 26/03/2008 20:09

Meri - yep, I used to love x-files...until it got all weird and stupid then I gave up. (It dragged on for too many seasons, IMO). What about twin peaks? Did you like that when you were a youngster (although you may be just too young for it. I was about 14 or 15 when it was on, so my mum let me watch it but a year or 2 younger and I'd have had no chance).

Miaou - so sorry to hear that . I would think something like a blanket, if you had time (I have no idea how long it takes to knit anything!). Especially as she's a poorly little thing, a blanket is a cuddle made of yarn (I think so anyway). On a completely unrelated to the sad news but something that'll make you smile note...I quite often sneak a little look at the blanket you made for your DD and sigh at how I am and how I'd like to be snuggled under it watching telly. For me blankets are the best presents in the world (being in need of warming up constantly).

meridian · 26/03/2008 20:50

vInTaGeVioLeT · 26/03/2008 20:51

oh i loved northern exposure i keep looking at the boxed sets on play.com and hoping dp might buy them for me!!

i want to eat meridian's dh's apple pudding - oh dear that sounds wierd and slightly pervy or is that just me!!!

Miaou · 26/03/2008 20:52

Aw thanks for the ideas folks - I've actually already made her a blanket - my friend saw the one I made for dd1 and commissioned me to make one for her dd for Christmas !

I'm thinking card in the short term though I am rubbish at making cards - and I've found a pattern for a little amigurumi doll which I might make for her dd, and change it into a fairy to look over her and keep her well ... all I can do in a short space of time I think!

meridian · 26/03/2008 20:53

vintage- it was a good show.. and boxed sets are great we just watched season one of 24 last week.. all of it.. it was great especially the not havign to wait till next week bit.
