Hello my name is Nbg and I am feltaholic

Why oh why did I try something new.
How very stupid and lethal of me.

I even sat and counted how many chairty shops we have in our little town high street that I could raid for old woolly jumpers.

I got to 8.

Annnnywaaaay

JG I have fallen in love with that little cardi and hat.
Its adorable! And the colour too.
Gorgeous.

Meri have you made your goth choker yet?
Is it really a choker or is it a fancy dh torture implament?
Hope your ds is ok too.

Little Ethan was given an inhaler yesterday as he has a bad phlemgy cough.
Its an interesting contraption which includes a long plastic tube and I hate to say it but every time I look at it all I can think of is the Penis enlarger off the Austin Powers film

Tilly your custom huggly is very sweet.
How old was the little girl who drew it? Its a very good picture.

Vintage did you get anything at the charity shop then?
I never seem to find buttons in ours.

GM I'm lovingyour own little doll Shes very funky.
The pirate bunny is very cool too.

All I have done today is make a flower for my felt bag and thats it.
Tomorrow I'm babysitting in the next village for my friend for an hour or so but they have good chairty shops in their teeny weeny town so I may find some gems

Tillyboo · 11/03/2008 21:00

Nbg - The little girl was 10 who drew the picture. Excellent wasn't it ?

Try car boots for woolen items too, they are sometimes a good source. I picked up a GAP jumper for 10p which I felted.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 11/03/2008 21:08

oh yes roll on carboot season!!!

nbg oh yes i got some yummy buttons and some really cool catholic medals [my other guilty pleasure!]

i really want to make one of those felted bags - it's soooo pretty - doubt i'd use it though as i'm not a cutesy girly girl!!!

lucykate · 11/03/2008 21:46

maybe we need a sub section within arts & crafts, feltaholics anonymous

Gingermonkey · 11/03/2008 21:50

NBG - DD has one of those penis enlarger inhaler things - bizarre, aren't they? DS likes to play with it, like a trumpet. Strange boy

I have been putting off for EVER (since christmas) going into a shop in town (a lovely one I might add) that wants me to make bunting and lavender hearts and things (my friend roped me in to it - and I'm too wimpy to say no)....well the man phoned me last week and asked me to come in tomorrow, so I have a whole heap of those types of things to make in the next couple of weeks. Plus I need to update my shop (it's a bit bare after a hugely busy week last week, hoorah!) - I've half done 2 girl pirates (not bunnies) this evening (JG told me make them - she made me, and she gave me a chinese burn - she's scary ), then I want to get another maybe 6 dolls done in the next week. Oh dear, I feel a panicky stress thingy coming on!!!

OP posts:
jeangenie · 12/03/2008 08:18

yeah yeah yeah [rolls eyes] I am SO scary...you KNOW those pirates wanted to be girls...they really did...they told me in a dream...

feltaholics anonymous can I join?

I think I've realised why I get so little crafting done while some people get so much (apart from the day job, two children, cat and completely ramshackle house that is) it's all the blogs I read and ravelry...and now flickr...I wish I could make myself not look, but then I love to look, I love to see what other people are making and how...how do you balance the need for inspiration with the need for time to make things?...bloody interweb, before this of an evening you'd be so bored you'd just have to knit

Miaou · 12/03/2008 08:42

IKWYM jeangenie, I finished a pair of zebra slippers last night but they've taken twice as long as they should have done because I have been too busy on ravelry, flickr, my blog, MN blog ... !

Miaou · 12/03/2008 08:44

I'm trying to add myself as a member to the MN blog but don't know how ... help, I'm confooooosed!

meridian · 12/03/2008 09:23

meridian · 12/03/2008 10:40

dior- thank you!

am in happy happy joy joy mood now.. ordered beads from fire mountain, then ordered some silver clasps that i was desperate for from etsy.. and then spoiled myself with buyting a blackapple print... it will be DH's birthday present but really its for me.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 12/03/2008 10:58

gingermonkey - i'm loving your dolls , well done with all your sales is it you thats a clothkits fan?

lucykate · 12/03/2008 11:56

i keep getting someone visiting my blog that links back to the clothkits.co.uk address, but when i try and follow it back, it says i need a password to visit that area, weird

lucykate · 12/03/2008 12:03

dh has gone book shopping today from amazon, ordered me warm fuzzies (gm, ta for the offer to borrow yours btw, am getting my own, yippeee!), bend the rules sewing and a couple of softie pattern books by the lady who does the softies central blog site.

lucky me

now, back to work, am supposed to be finished off a magazine editorial today, it's late!!!

jeangenie · 12/03/2008 12:12

oooh [quick stop in from work] I just got bend the rules sewing on Monday - looks great - what I have read so far. I am trying to reda this one from start to finish, rather than doing my normal trick of starting in teh middle, full of excitement, flicking backwards, then forwards like a maniac, and then putting the book on a shelf and not doing anything with it!

I also got this and this

The first looks fab, not sure about the second yet, it may be one of those books that the cover is the best thing about!

can you tell I am having an embroidery moment!

lucykate · 12/03/2008 12:20

jg, that japanese woolly stitching one is on my wish list, let me know if its any good.

so, has no one bought this fab book yet?, i hear there are some wonderful people featured in it

jeangenie · 12/03/2008 12:27

funnily enough I'd just been looking at that LK - looks good and the contributers (or one at least) are FAB ...I have the other one though (the one for grown ups) and haven't used it much so am gonna wait a while, it's on my wishlist though

will let you know about the japanese one

does anyone have anything to say about
this or this or this or
this

or any other recommendations for someone just learning to sew and bad at following (sewing) patterns...

Gingermonkey · 12/03/2008 12:46

VV - yep, I'm the clothkits fan.

I got bend the rules for my birthday! And doodle was on my wish list, but no-one got it, so I'm going to get it for myself instead, so let me know what you think when you get going with it, JG.

LK - the person looking at your blog is prob the lady who has clothkits, she's called Kay - she's very nice. She sent me a free t-shirt with a citroen 2CV on for DS, so I like her very much (JG - I used the mind power on her )

OP posts:
lucykate · 12/03/2008 12:47

i have the sew pretty homestyle one, tis very good, beautiful photography, in fact i have all 3 tone finnanger books

the other 3, i don't have, but all 3 are raved about by other bloggers, particularly the lotta jansdotter one

jeangenie · 12/03/2008 12:54

oh, why can't we all just go and live in a fabulous gothic mansion on a huge moor and share our books and crafting ideas and have fun all day, with our beautiful children running about all creative and free...WHY?

[can you tell am having bad day at work and all this talk of craft books is making me yearnful, can you?]

well done on the mindpower GM - that is some talent you've got there

lucykate · 12/03/2008 13:00

jg, if we did, i'd be sat down by the lake waiting for colin firth to step out the water, soaking wet, a la mr darcy rather than crafting

jeangenie · 12/03/2008 13:03

well, that'd mean I'd be able to go through all your books with no interruptions then meridian could do baked goods for afternoon tea and we could invite your new flame...

sounding better by the moment...

Gingermonkey · 12/03/2008 13:08

Can someone win the lottery and buy a lovely mansion for us all to hang out in? PLEASE!!!

I am supposed to be working on the shop update, but I'm having a flap about having to go and talk to a real person about making stuff for his shop (especially as DH seems to think he fancies me - YUK, he's the gayest straight man I've ever met and it upsets me to even think about him having a romantic thought about me - I don't cope very well with attention from the opposite sex)

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 12/03/2008 13:30

just blogged meri's vintage swap. Are you doing it too, JG? (blogging it - I know you are partaking in it)
