Oooh LK. Getting all famous on us with craft slebs leaving messages on your blog

Mines coming on really well.
I'm so proud of myself for not actually buggering it up.

I'm just going to check the tutorial again though because I'm having an issue with the strap.

I wish I could put my photos up.

Dh has said he's buying the new laptop tonight or tomorrow

Dior I got your email and I've replied again
Its lovely when you get orders isnt it.

Not that I've had any

GreebosWhiskers · 11/03/2008 10:32

at Dior feeling all neglected. I know how you feel - I got sitemeter up & running (thanks again LK) & I know lots of folks (mostly Ravellers) are looking but hardly anyone's commenting. Not that I can really complain since I do the same darn thing myself

Dior, which is your blog?

Am off to comment on the others - LK you are right, I look and think "ooh lovely" but don't leave comments - having just set up my own blog I'm beginning to appreciate what it means to get comments!

Dh's mate was round yesterday and I was telling him about setting up my blog, so he asked for a look - being a techy I thought he was interested in the setup etc, but no, he was most taken with the projects! He was most complimentary about my stuff, and dh and he both commented on how good it looked. I felt all warm and fuzzy for the rest of the day!

lucykate · 11/03/2008 11:59

what you need to do is have a blog giveaway, that helps with blog promotion and draws all the lurkers out to comment.

it's a really good exercise in seeing who your market is when you visit their blogs in return

try it!

Nbg · 11/03/2008 12:34

Oooh a giveaway!

Thats a very good idea LK.
I might do that.

I'm the same with blogs. Its silly isnt it. I look at loads but hardly ever comment.
Having said that I'd be there all day doing it!

jeangenie · 11/03/2008 12:49

I do think leaving comments yourself is important.. people are much more inclined to stop by and leave something for you if you have made the effort on their blog. Knowing how much comments mean to me I always try to leave one if I can...time is sooooo short though...

topically , I've just blogged my finished cardi and hat and the stuff I found down the charity shop last weekend...I loved knitting these little things, my friend had her abby early so I need to get a move on with the quilt if I am doing one...

jeangenie · 11/03/2008 12:49

abby ? [hmmm] baby I meant

Gingermonkey · 11/03/2008 13:44

oooh, JG - that cardi is lovely!!!

I just blogged my birthday prezzies (well, a few of them, I got SO many ). And I made a doll, that is ME for ME.
My hobby horse attempt for catherine of mollycupcakes is going horribly wrong, I think I may have to accept defeat. Oh well!!!

i just spent an hour seaching through my local charity shops - sorry i mean "thrifting" and bought some lushous stuff - buttons [of course] vintage glace thread and a vintage book{shh-i'm gonna cut it up}
lucykate i found some pure washable lambswool jumpers - they were over £3 each so i didn't get them as i wasn't sure they'd felt[being machine washable] and thought they were expensive what do you think? TIA

Gingermonkey · 11/03/2008 14:26

VV - you saddo!!!

Machine washable jumpers won't felt, sorry!

dizzyday07 · 11/03/2008 14:30

(Runs off to find it)

done no crafting.. had rubbish day.. one of those DS messing aroudn in the back of the car till he made himself sick all over the car and himself... go to the nearest shop to get cleaning products, new trousters and socks.. then bail on the family walk on the moors for lunch and cue ds ignoring me and constantly shouting then DH telling me off for nagging ds... so ended up taking th car keys and sitting in the vomit ridden car crying for 20 mins... sign... i will blame pms or something not jsut DH being an ass and not backing me up when DS doing that purposeful ignoring/misbehaving thing... sorry to vent on here and disrupt the calm/crafty air...

Miaou · 11/03/2008 15:12

poor you Meri - {{{hugs}}}

I have waited in all day for the builder and he is still not here but I have knocked all the tiles off the kitchen walls and done about 3 hours of cross stitching so feel quite calm and serene!

I love commenting on blogs - even though I don't say much, just gush about ace stuff!

Miaou · 11/03/2008 16:06

dior, thank you, have added you to my blog now! Am afraid I'm still posting as Fubsy though, so have put my name in brackets next to my comments!

jbr, thanks for your comments, tis much appreciated

Whizzz · 11/03/2008 16:09

hi all - I wore my bracelet & necklace today & I'm glad to say it didn't come apart. I've been looking online for copper or coloured jump rings for the next one!

I also have by bag of goodies from Chester to play with...I've got a lovely little bag of mixed pearls in shades of cream & lilac...

Meri - tomorrow can only get better

In trawling through charity shops, do any of you come across any old glass beads/broken jewellery? I've looked a couple of times near me & only found horrid tat. I'd love to find some old stuff to re-work

Miaou · 11/03/2008 16:15

I will keep my eye out, Whizzz

meridian · 11/03/2008 16:22

thanks everyone thats really helped.. DH took ds off to his mothers driveway to clean the car out.. so i made tomato soup and did some angry cleaning to loud rock music feel better now not great but am planning to do crafts all morning tommorow and order some beads too... I may get some beads out a little later as I have some onyx that is crying out to be a little goth-y type choker.

meridian · 11/03/2008 17:03

have jsut been tinkering with mumsnet blog so nobody panic when you see it.. its a but um grey right now.. will be sorted by tommrow.. i think i have sorted out the posting under fubsy thing... will sort everything later or in the morning.. dinner time now..

jeangenie · 11/03/2008 17:32

I will keep an eye out for you too whizz - it's not the kind of thing I would do anything with myself so I won't be any competition for you!
(ps your parcel finally got posted today - I hope - DH went off with it to post en route to work...I stamped t all yesterday but couldn't find a post box big enough for it, so Dh is going via PO. It's not that big so don't get too excited, I think the bloody post boxes have all shrunk)

dior I wasn't having a go - just realised it might have sounded like that - I was just being reflective - I'd love to leave way more comments than I do, but time is against us all. Sometimes I don't even visit the blogs themselves but read the version in bloglines, which is a bit crap as then the person probably doesn't even see me as a stat, and after commments seeing lots of vsitors is next best thing eh?

on that note - thanks for all your lovely comments today folks

meri sorry to hear about crap day - do your beads tonight will make you feel better

I am trying to deal with about 2 years worth of unfiled (often unopened ) paperwork . Well it's clogging up my crafting space so I am driven to it...BORING!

Whizzz · 11/03/2008 18:12

oooo I'm all giddy Jeangenie!

It doesn't really matter about charity shop beads (unless you spot something lovely!) - I just wondered if anyone had seen that sort of things in shops. As the ones near us just seem to have junky jewellery in.

meridian · 11/03/2008 18:50

have made an onyx and garnet necklace and feel better... my eyes are tired now and the light is too crap to take a picture but i will take one in the am to share/blog.

Tillyboo · 11/03/2008 19:57

I've been a bit elusive lately cos I've been really busy with all sorts but ...

My challenge this week (amongst many) was to finish the Huggly that Kittys daughter designed.

The finished Huggly is on my blog

I've got all sorts on the go and running out of time with most of them.
I'm also trying to organise dd's birthday party - blimey isn't inviting school friends political ? I'm worn out by it all ...

We have some really horrible charity shops locally, you are very lucky if you find something decent but I still try.
