I don't think it looks womany. I like it. With your flair for colour I am sure it'd be fab.

Thank you for that pdf tip @lucysmam looks very useful!

I like that pattern. I'll have a closer look tomorrow. Thanks @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. I do agree it looks perfect for DMs but I'm an old goth so don't trust me!

lazylinguist · 19/09/2021 08:42

Hmm I'm going to choose a different hat (maybe another kate Davies one), as I don't have a suitable dk in my stash.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 19/09/2021 11:17

I like the hat lazy; I think it's the colours making it look like a ladies hat maybe.

It's quite handy Meryl I've been using it for some things for my Guides where I don't want the whole page - just the relevant info from it - & deleting the colour eating ads.

This is my spa set so far. I'm toying with adding a round of the cream to the back scrubby since I've used it for the shower puff handle.

Woohoo! I finished my test knit. I have one sock left to finish and then I have zero wips, this has never happened before, I must cast on immediately Grin

I like your shawl NiceCardigan!

lazylinguist · 20/09/2021 07:36

Zero WIPs Shock. I have two - my Goldwing and my much-neglected cable cushion. I also have ny ongoing collection of as-yet-purposeless crochet squares, but I'm not counting them, because each one is a separate WIP and I haven't made one for ages!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/09/2021 08:44

What is this ‘zero WIPs’ you talk of flavia? Confused

I haven’t dared open the ottoman storing my WIPs in case I’ve missed a few but a quick head count got me to 7 WIPs Grin All of which want finishing in the next 8 weeks or so - which isn’t going to happen Blush MIL will have to have her Phoenix blanket next year, or the year after that. I’ve got some time off at the end of the week and I’m hoping to finish at least two WIPs and start on the other WIPs - not start two more WIPs! Those 7 don’t include my appliqués for Christmas cards as I don’t have a certain number I’m trying to do and I tend to finish them as I start them.

CrochetBug · 20/09/2021 08:59

Zero WIPs? That's £1 for the swear box please @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack Grin

lucysmam · 20/09/2021 09:07

🤣🤣zero WIPs. That sounds akin to finishing the shampoo and conditioner at the same time 🤔

I have four I think. Plus three I want to frog but there isn't the time for that

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 20/09/2021 09:09

CrochetBug I'm casting on, I'm casting on Grin

I totally cheated by borrowing the knitting machine and using that to finish a couple and then handing another to my DM with instructions that I never want to see it again. Sort of like bomb disposal, but with knitting...

Well, 8 weeks might be doable provided you do nothing else and barely sleep InTheNight Wink

sophs29 · 20/09/2021 09:41

Haha I must be the only one on this thread that literally only has one WIP at a time! I can't have more than one thing on the go, I can't even start a new book if I have a crochet project on the go 😂 I think it was @InTheNightWeWillWish that had a nice name for it when I mentioned it on a previous thread (mind focused/orientated) something like that anyway, but I just think it's my bloody OCD 😬😂

lazylinguist · 20/09/2021 10:28

I try to limit myself to 3 WIPs at a time, but I often have 3 books on the go - one fiction in English, one fiction in Spanish, French or German and one non-fiction! I always get through the English fiction far faster than the other two though!

1 WIP and no books? Brain does not compute Grin
I honestly think I've got ADHD. I can't only have one thing at a time. I get bored! I actually don't know how many WIPs I've got. I reckon it's 10+ Blush Plus a million things I want to make. And about 5 designs of my own.
And I'm reading 2 books.
I'm currently making more squares while watching Everybody's Talking About Jamieagain

I've had a text from the GP. They want me to go and discuss my blood results. Terrified doesn't even come close! But I guess if we know what's wrong with me we can treat it.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/09/2021 11:58

I honestly think I've got ADHD. I can't only have one thing at a time. I get bored!

I think I’m the same. My brain is constantly looking for a distraction, even if I’m already doing a distraction. Except occasionally my brain will latch on to something every so often and I won’t be able to put it down, I’ll stay up to stupid o’clock in the morning, even when I have a busy day at work, to try and finish it. Then if I don’t finish it, I won’t sleep well and my dreams will be about the book or WIP. I obsess about it until it’s done. I have no idea which WIP or book will trigger an obsession either as they don’t seem to be the interesting patterns or books Confused

crochetbug phone calls with doctors are always horrible but fingers crossed you get some encouraging news and they start looking at treating you.

sophs29 · 20/09/2021 13:56

Oh I have a million things on my list that I want to make/do/read etc, but seeing as I have to do one at a time, it takes a fair while 😂😂

@CrochetBug I also hope it's encouraging news and sending hugs!

CrochetBug · 20/09/2021 14:04

That's exactly what I'm like @InTheNightWeWillWish! I was laying in bed obsessing about shepherd's pie the other night. Mind you, DS2 was delighted because it means I made it for dinner (I almost got up at 2am and made it but was comfy.)

@sophs29 I wish I could do that. I'm sure it's why I'm always exhausted. My brain just races ahead all the time.

I can't decide if doing my squares one at a time is better. Or doing each round multiple times so I remember the pattern easier and having loads of half made squares is better.

The Dr is calling me back next week to discuss my results. So they can't have found anything too awful in my blood else they'd want to see me sooner.

lazylinguist · 20/09/2021 16:34

Fingers crossed it's good news from the doctor, @CrochetBug. I had sone tests for potentially scary things a while back too - the waiting isn't fun. You're right though- I'm sure they'd have been in more of a hurry to see you if it was something nasty!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 20/09/2021 16:52

Thanks @lazylinguist. They were doing a full MOT so it could have flagged anything from diabetes to vitamin deficiency right up to whatever scary stuff they test for Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 20/09/2021 16:52

Oh flip, well that's good I guess CrochetBug, if it was urgent they'd want to see you before that Flowers

lazylinguist · 20/09/2021 17:00

Gah - my car just failed its MOT and cost me hundreds to fix. Let's hope you pass with flying colours!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 20/09/2021 17:02

Oh no @lazylinguist how annoying. There's a benefit to not driving. No expensive MOTS!
If I fail mine I'll be glad the NHS will pay to fix me.

lazylinguist · 20/09/2021 17:30

I don't really like driving, but it's a bit hard to avoid when I work in 5 different rural schools all miles away from each other and from me! Grin

The latest medical news in the linguist household is that dh is off for a pcr test in the morning. He's coughing like mad, hot head, and a bit feeble. Cases rising at school and back to masks in communal areas and school buses from tomorrow .

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 21/09/2021 15:56

Absolutely not jumping on the crochet card making bandwagon. My niece is 4 tomorrow so I've drawn a "stick Alice" Grin

Aww cute! I wimped out on making a Star Wars one for my nephew in the end - been too busy. Full day of supply teaching today (ending with bottom set year 8 with a wasp in the classroom...).

Still - it's archery tonight, so I get to sit and knit while I wait! And I'm going to Yarndale on Saturday Smile

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 21/09/2021 17:12

I've got a pattern for a crochet lightsaber somewhere. But the only people I know who would even remotely want them are adults (or teens) and have actual (plastic) lightsabers.

Yarndale sounds fun! We don't have anything decent like that here.

lazylinguist · 21/09/2021 17:59

We've got quite a bit of that stuff up here - it's very sheepy country! Yarndale is over the border into Yorkshire from me, but not very far away.
