Pain in the arse was striked through 🙄

InTheNightWeWillWish · 14/09/2021 18:56

My blanket has been plucked! 😭I suspect the culprits can be seen in the background of the photo. It’s only for us, which I guess is better than it being a gift for someone else, but I still want it to be perfect. At least until I’ve managed to finish it! The plucked stitch is 3 rows in and I’m almost halfway, so frogging isn’t really an option. Is there a way I can tack the plucked stitch in? Ignore DH’s hand he’s trying to help but is suggesting using clear nail polish 😭

I find you can usually wiggle the stitch. Pull it about a bit and it should flatten down again. Or is the yarn actually broken?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 14/09/2021 19:43

crochetbug most of the stitch I can wiggle back in although still slightly noticeable but the two of the threads have been plucked out of the stitch. There’s one thread which is quite obvious and not being wiggled back in. The second stitch is slightly out of the stitch and slightly noticeable but still not for being wiggled in.

Thankfully Cats Protection has a scheme for issuing vouchers for neutering feral cats @Sophs29 or I'd be in trouble! I asked the vet how much it generally cost and was told £60 for a female cat. If I'd only known I probably would have just paid it for the first one and avoided all this but I can't stretch to 6 or 7 neutering fees!

In knitting you trace the stitch though the work @InTheNightWeWillWish and give it a tug as you do it and it'll get pulled back into the work, I don't know how that'd work with crochet stitches but it's with a try!

sophs29 · 14/09/2021 20:41

Wow @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that would definitely be a hefty vet bill for animals that aren't even your pet! That poor cat having so many litters too!

@InTheNightWeWillWish oh no 😣 is there no chance of finding some orange embroidery thread/cotton and somehow tying it around that stitch to neaten it all? I don't know - I'm just plucking (pardon the pun) ideas out of nowhere 😬

sophs29 · 14/09/2021 20:41

Also @InTheNightWeWillWish I expected to see cats in the background but they look like two very tall dogs 😂😂

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/09/2021 11:32

I haven't stopped since kids started school 2 weeks ago and I only crocheted for about 1 hour this week on Monday when DS1 & I were on the train to see Live at the Apollo recording. It was absolutely fantastic!

But I wanted to show you my absolutely stunning birthday sock yarns that arrived yesterday from Felt Fusion.
I'm in love!🥰
They are sitting next to me so I can stroke them while watching tv!🤣

Shock @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba - those are astonishingly beautiful! I'd be stroking them too!

After my success with the crochet fish birthday card for dh, I'm planning to make another crochet card for my nephew's birthday (23rd September). He's a big Star Wars fan, so I'm thinking of trying to make a Darth Vader!

I've made a start on a 'spa set' for my friend who likes a pamper evening but this back scrubby thing is leaning slightly & doing my head in a bit because I can't work out why Confused. Hopefully a border will hide the lean, unless it looks really off when I've done, I don't want to frog a third time 🙄

I'll catch up with the thread now, feel like I've hardly had a minute this week!

CrochetBug · 16/09/2021 16:24

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba wow! That looks too nice to use. It should be used for squishing purposes only.

@lucysmam no idea why it's leaning. I wouldn't worry too much for something like a back scrubber. It will get all scrunched up anyway!

I've finished my last (for now) pattern test and am making myself take a couple of days off. The benefit of pattern testing is you get patterns for free. The downside is you aren't allowed to change the stitch count without asking first. So unlike when I buy a pattern and wing it yo make it fit my weird sized body, I've ended up with a top that's too baggy under the arms. So I either need to take it in (more than I already have) or frog it and adapt it now I've done the test.

lucysmam · 16/09/2021 16:31

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba they're lush! I'd have to keep checking on them 🤣

@CrochetBug I suspect I've mis placed a stitch somewhere but it's not looking any worse after 6 repeats now so I'll just add another then border and handles.

I'm quite chuffed...Christmas (sorry for swearing!) has begun! I'm considering pre-making gingerbread dough to deep-freeze this weekend too. And wondering what to make the girls 🤷‍♀️ And debating jumping on the card bandwagon 🎄

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack your cat situation sounds very frustrating! & your neighbour sounds rather silly for not dealing properly first time around.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 16/09/2021 18:24

Oh wow Zing they're beautiful!

That's lovely CrochetBug! It is a pity about the pattern alterations though. Could you just take it and with a fake seam under the arms or would it be too bulky?

It is lucysmam! And she is!

CrochetBug · 16/09/2021 18:57

@flavia it's got a kind of shell stitch pattern around the top. I've been sewing them together to make it smaller, but if I do too many more it's going to be bulky. I probably could have changed the stitch count and not told the creator. But I feel like that's a bit unfair as it wouldn't be testing the pattern as it's written. Especially as it seems to fit everyone else!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 16/09/2021 20:14

Thanks flavia I don’t know if this is what you meant but I’ve kind of wrapped the split yarn around the stitch and slip stitched into the rest of the stitch. I can tell it’s there but I don’t think anyone else would pick up on it, DH can’t spot it anyway.

sophs the dogs are both very tall. They’re both leggy for their breeds and are more like ponies than dogs Grin

zing that yarn is so lovely. Obviously I’ve already checked out the website and I’m sorely tempted to buy some… and it is pay day tomorrow 🤷‍♀️ However, I really don’t need any more yarn and I have other stuff (non-crochet related stuff) to buy this month. I love the idea of the sock subscription and getting a surprise yarn through the post each month. I probably need to master socks first though!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 18/09/2021 10:29

It wasn't but it sound like a brilliant idea InTheNight! Glad you got it sorted!

I'm slogging on with my test knit, I started a swatch for one of the jumpers in the collage I posted but the cables were totally lost in the dark wool so I'm going to swatch for another and see how it goes. I really really want to knit this but it's almost a work of art rather than a jumper and my usual outfit is jeans and DM's so it might be a bit of a waste as I can't see me wearing it much. I thought about toning it down but it's hard to see how to...

That's a gorgeous jumper @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. Do it!

Gorgeous wool too @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba. I wish I could pull off'vibrant colours.

Can anyone recommend a pattern for a simple knit in the round jumper with a wide neck, please? DK wool. I've fallen in love with some wool but have to think of what to knit with it.

@lucysmam A border solves everything Wink
InTheNightWeWillWish · 18/09/2021 14:00

flavia I love that jumper. It’s probably a bit OTT for something I would wear too but I’d probably be tempted to give it a go just because it looks challenging.

We’re away this weekend and I’ve brought two easy and printable (new - because my WIP list wasn’t big enoughGrin) projects. It’s a hat for my friend and a Christmas scarf for the dog. It’s roasting where I am and definitely not the weather to be making hats and scarves.

NiceCardigan · 18/09/2021 16:13

Love the jumper @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack and the colour of the yarn in the picture.

I’ve finally finished my shawl and have started on some socks. It’s a bit hot for knitting woolly socks but will push on!

lucysmam · 18/09/2021 16:31

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that'd look amazing with jeans & DM's! You should do it!

@StarfishDish it is indeed now hidden under a (nearly completed) border - I got a bit bored Blush

I found a chrome add on the other day that makes any web page into a pdf printable & you can remove the annoying ad's. Very useful www.printfriendly.com (I tried typing the web address rather than going to c&p it so link might not even work 🤷‍♀️ we'll see).

@NiceCardigan that looks nice to wrap up in. Is it for yourself, or someone else? I can't remember but you've probably told us!

NiceCardigan · 18/09/2021 16:40

Its for me @lucysmam

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 18/09/2021 16:42

Flax by TinCanKnits Meryl? It's free and shows off the wool you're using...

lazylinguist · 18/09/2021 17:59

Lovely shawl @NiceCardigan and that jumper looks amazing @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack!

I'm plodding along with my Goldwing sleeves and mulling over next projects. Probably a hat for dh and more socks for ds. I was looking at a lovely Kate Davies book this morning which I've had for a while and haven't made anything from yet. What do you think of this hat for dh? If you look at the different photos it's got a stranded crown. It's supposed to be unisex - does it look a bit more of a woman's hat?
