I just read a bit of it to dd, and it reminded us a bit of this video she showed me a while back of some YouTubers reading out an AI's attempt at creating a Harry Potter book, based on the Potter books they inputted into it. It's hilariously bonkers!

I am about to read that link now meryl Grin

I've been in soft play for 2 hrs with my youngest while eldest is at a party... Be rude not to do any crocheting

That article made me laugh -although I'm another who doesn't need an instruction to crochet my hair into what I'm working on, it just happens anyway! 🤷‍♀️

It's been a tough day here; poor Errol is dying but it seems to be a drawn out process for him & I'm conflicted between the chest freezer being best or let him go naturally. Dd2 wants to leave him until tomorrow so that's what we'll do. His little house looks so empty without him mooching about the top and sides 😢 but she wants to wrap him up to send away to be pinned, and tidy it all away herself.

lazylinguist · 12/09/2021 22:31

Oh no - poor Errol! Sad

I've finally got around to casting off the body of my Goldwing jumper and have picked up the stitches to do the first sleeve. The rate I'm going it's going to be Spring before I've finished and I won't get to wear it until next winter! Grin

CrochetBug · 12/09/2021 22:37

Oh poor Errol. I hope his end is swift and easy.

I really thought I'd finish my top today, but my wrists are so painful. I've had to get my wrist supports out again and force myself not to crochet Sad. Still it means I might actually watch the foreign film I've been wanting to watch for ages.

I'll be having a day off crochet tomorrow as well as I'm going to help my auntie care for my cousin. Mind you, that might be as hard on the wrists as crochet! Hopefully it will be enough of a rest though!

@LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer I love the colours you're using! So bright and cheerful.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/09/2021 22:56

Oh poor Errol Sad

Oh I hope you're feeling better @sophs29! You picked my favourite jumper out of all that collage btw!

Just keep thinking how small each sleeve round is compared to the main body @lazylinguist, or do what I do and knit short sleeves instead 😄

That's pretty @LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer!

That is both funny and intriguing @MerylSqueak 😄

lazylinguist · 13/09/2021 10:46

Awww @CrochetBug - so sorry about your wrists! I hope you enjoy the foreign film though! What kind of foreign is it? Dh and I are watching the Spanish series 'Money Heist' ('Casa de Papel') atm, which is really good. I ought to be watching it in Spanish really, but we'd need tte subtitles on and I can't concentrate on subtitles and knit Grin so we're watching the dubbed version!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 13/09/2021 16:01

Thanks @lazylinguist. I think it was Slovak so I had no chance of understanding any of itGrin
I really recognised bits of it though although I'm fairly certain I hadn't seen it before. I have seen an English film of the same story though so maybe that's why. It's a true story so some bits are going to be the same regardless of language.
The Slovak one was heaps better though, definitely worth having to watch with subtitles. The English one was crap.

I used to watch a few foreign TV series before I learnt to crochet. Grin

lazylinguist · 13/09/2021 16:13

I ought to watch lots of foreign films and series really, to stop my languages from going rusty! It was one thing when I was regularly teaching up to A Level, but primary school French and Spanish don't really keep my level up! I listen to audiobooks though, because I can do that while knitting doing the housework.

Hi everyone! I've missed way too much to catch up on! I've been snowed under with study but my first year is now finished and I'm starting on my second year of my degree.

I've also finished my first proper crochet project. My granny square blanket is done but now I'm sewing in the ends and tidying it all up which is a nightmare. I've gotten another delivery today to make some mini dinosaurs but I need eyes for them.

Hope everyone is well!

lucysmam · 13/09/2021 20:18

We wrapped Errol up snugly in tissue, today, to send him to be pinned. His little spot's so empty & dd's so upset 😢. She was determined to do most of it herself though so we're taking him to the Post Office on Wednesday after school. Lots of tears this afternoon. Isn't it strange how even an insect as a pet has that effect!?

@sophs29 how are you feeling today?

I hope the couple of days off crocheting have helped your wrists @CrochetBug!

@cookiemonster5 mini dinosaurs sound fun.

I'm just about to try and finish the toe of my second sock & sew in the final few ends...glad I did them as I went this time Grin

sophs29 · 13/09/2021 20:41

Oh so sorry to hear about Errol @lucysmam He was such a unique little pet! Somehow he always looked happy in the photos you uploaded - even for an insect! We was going to get my DS rabbits but the main reason we didn't is because it's so upsetting when they go 😣

I'm feeling much better today thank you, I forced myself out to do the nursery run and the fresh air helped so I went to look after mum for the afternoon, managed to eat some food for the first time in 2 days and now I feel back to normal apart from a very sore arm still 😂

lucysmam · 13/09/2021 22:04

Aah, I don't think we could cope with anything more. She's truly heartbroken 💔. She's never really known anyone close die before either so this is the first time she's really experienced grief too. It's not fun not being able to cuddle it better. But she's taking full responsibility for him now too, which I'm proud of.

I'm glad to see you're feeling better. Hopefully your sore arm will feel normal soon too!

I've finished my socks; just some embellishments to be added tomorrow 🧦

I've found a couple of others I like too, I think the first pair are knit but I can't find a proper link to them...just lots of pics on Pinterest. The second are crochet.

It won't let me post from different locations at the same time 🙄

Sorry to hear about Errol lucysmam. It doesn’t matter how small the pet is, they still touch our hearts. Losing a pet is always hard, they’re such a big part of your family.

Lovely socks.

Glad you’re feeling better sophs

sophs29 · 14/09/2021 07:30

Oh she sounds very mature @lucysmam bless her heart!

The socks looks great! Have you caught the sock bug too?! I can't get enough of making them now! 😂

Thank you @InTheNightWeWillWish and thank you for your well wishes up thread @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack I've only just read through the recent posts in thread properly! ☺️

lazylinguist · 14/09/2021 08:35

R.I.P. Errol Flowers

Wow - those socks are fantastic, @lucysmam!
Glad youre feeling better @sophs29.

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack - I think I'm going to hang in there and knit the long sleeves. Quite looking forward to doing the Fairisle cuffs, but still a bit apprehensive about the 'applied i-cord edging'.

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/09/2021 10:58

Don't worry lazy icord is one of those things that make sense when you're doing it and seeing it form as you go.

Poor DD lucysmam, she sounds like she's handling it well though.

We've had a saga about stray cats for a while. I'd contacted cats protection for help and told my neighbour who then got in before me and borrowed a trap. We'd thought she got it all sorted and had the mother cat and her two kittens neutered but then the mother cat turned up pregnant again and having spoken to cats protection I'm not sure she even tried tbh. So somewhat inevitably, I now have newborn kittens in my greenhouse and I've taken over dealing with cats protection and have got a trap. Nightmare. I'm really quite annoyed with my neighbour, she knew the mother cat was a stray for a year before she had the first litter. I thought she belonged to someone Angry Sorry. Rant over!

cookiemonster5 · 14/09/2021 11:57

Have any of you guys used safety eyes? I was going to get some off Amazon but the reviews say they aren't great. I don't want the eyes falling off my dinosaurs and I'm rubbish at sewing them

CrochetBug · 14/09/2021 12:02

I always use safety eyes and never had a problem with them. Mind you I've never tried pulling them off, and the few toys I have made for other people I have made it very clear they are not CE tested. The pack to test things is next on my list so i can try and sell toys.

lazylinguist · 14/09/2021 15:38

Oh that sounds like a nightmare, @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack! What will happen to the newborn kittens?

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/09/2021 15:55

Apparently nothing lazy, because the cats are semi feral - Cats Protection say sometimes the mother cats kill their kittens in distress if they're caged so it's not their policy to try to re-home them. So I have to try to catch the two older kittens and then in 8 weeks I can try to catch the mother cat and the new kittens once they're weaned and they can be neutered. But they're basically given back to me to be released back into my garden unfortunately. They said if I don't get them neutered we could end up with a massive cat colony Shock which is why I'm so pissed off with my neighbour for ignoring the issue for so long!

lazylinguist · 14/09/2021 18:13

Oh dear! So you are a kind of accidental cat owner then? I feel like I'm sort of accidentally becoming a non-cat-owner atm. I hardly see mine - I suspect he has a second home Hmm.

Right... I am sitting in my car in the sunshine while the dc have their two hour archery class. Glasses on. Knitting out.

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/09/2021 18:40

Yup! Three was sort of ok but 6 or 7 cats is a bit much Shock I'm pretty sure these will go where the food is best tbh, fickle little things!

Nice! Enjoy Smile

sophs29 · 14/09/2021 18:51

Oh my goodness @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that's a pain in the arse inconvenience! Who has to pay for all the neutering? You?!

Sun @lazylinguist ? Enjoy! Its poured down here all day!
