Flowers @CrochetBug. The transition from holiday time to term time is tricky. Dh and dd are quite grumpy to be back at school (dd very much so), whereas ds and I are quite happy to be back in routine.

I'm getting no knitting and crochet done the last few days - I don't really feel like it when the weather is so hot and clammy!

@ForCluckSake thank you! I've finished the first one (hopefully my photo is attached)! I definitely went wrong somewhere- I think at the heel, and then that made the foot part all baggy so I had to put in lots of decreases but when it's on, it's actually really comfortable! Your rainbow scarf is going to look great! And I love the sound of a super chunky snuggly blanket!

@lucysmam glad your gardens sorted, part of my front garden I just laid all wildflower seeds down and it looked absolutely beautiful all summer but now it's starting to die off, I need to tidy it up and collect any seeds that haven't fallen and re-seeded themselves ☺️ I love gardening!

@CrochetBug hopefully the church cafe opens soon and I hope your pain eases very soon too!

@sophs29 that looks great! I want to make some more socks, but a different pattern. I've made those a couple of times now.

My hands are ok today, just a bit stiff but crochet is helping them loosen up a bit.

@lazylinguist i definitely need a routine of some kind. Problem is I'm unemployed, currently to ill to work so don't "need" to do anything much. It's a vicious cycle I think where I need to be doing something, but also need to have a lot of down time Confused. Still. The Vicar has told me their might be a job opening up for about 8hrs per week, I think I could manage that much. She also hinted I'd be good at it. So who knows.

I also need to win the lottery to fund all the yarn I need Grin

sophs29 · 10/09/2021 17:19

Oh thank you @CrochetBug now I'm doing the second one I know where I went wrong so I'll be frogging that one back to the heel and finishing it properly 😂

Oh the job sounds good! Could always try it and see how you go with it!
Winning the lottery would definitely help with my million crafts I need to fund 😂 and maybe another house for them all 😂

MerylSqueak · 11/09/2021 08:09

Fingers crossed for you@CrochetBug

Nice socks sophs!

@LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer I like your traveling arrangement! My closest family members keep offering to buy me some fancy knitting storage bag (probably because I am notorious for leaving crochet hooks and stitch markers everywhere in my wake) but I keep saying no. I can't see how they'd help me. I usually have whatever I am working on in one of those bags they send wool in together with a jewelry roll with my little tools in (or falling out). Everything else is stuffed in my ottoman. I can't see where the bag fits in

Does anyone have a purpose made knitting/crochet bag that they like?

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 11/09/2021 08:44

Sort of Meryl I have a couple of bought project bags but tbh I end up using anything handy! LauraSaid is after my own heart with her recycled project bag Wink

Sorry to hear you've been having a time of it CrochetBug Flowers best of luck deciding what to do about the job Brew

I've ripped out my test knit for the 4th time so far. So glad it's only a hat Blush this time I relaxed and my gague slipped so much it was suddenly too big for a human head... 5th time lucky!

I'm thinking of a new jumper project and I'd like to do something with cables and texture. So far I quite fancy knitting any of these but I haven't decided which.

lucysmam · 11/09/2021 08:44

@CrochetBug I'll pass on the jungle taming, I not overly keen on gardening really. Thanks for the offer though Grin. Are your hands feeling any better? 8 hours a week sounds like a nice way to ease yourself back into the world of work - not too much but enough iyswim :)

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack I had missed your completed jumper, it's amazing! Hopefully the weather will cool down a little so you can wear it.

@sophs29 lovely sock, the colours are pretty. I like the idea of a wildflower patch - there's a weird raised bit on the front of mine that never looks tidy, maybe for there 🤔

@LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer did you get some more of your scarf done?

I agree @lazylinguist about the transition from holiday to term time being tricky. The routine works much better for us, and I feel much more organised but me and dd2 are tired already whereas dd1 just carries on.

I'm ready to start the heel of my second sock this weekend - however, there are several million things I've said I'll do with the girls plus the usual weekend organising for the week ahead so I might not get much done 🤷‍♀️

sophs29 · 11/09/2021 12:35

Ooh @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack they all look great! I particularly like the brown one bottom right!

@lucysmam I hope you find some time to yourself today to crochet!

@MerylSqueak I made my mum a long knitting bag that she loves and stores her needles and current projects in. But she doesn't knit a lot so I guess it's handy for her. If you've always got something on the go it's probably better to have lots of different little bags 😂 I saw someone upthread uses a basket and now I'm going to grab one when I next see one as it will be so much easier to grab one basket with it all in, rather than my pattern, and then my little bag of hooks etc and then the actual project itself! It becomes a bit of a faff when it's all separate!

lazylinguist · 11/09/2021 12:41

I'm having my usual post-Parkrun slump... . Still, it was my 90th today, so I'm well on the way to my 100 t-shirt - yay!

Really want to get some knitting done today but my house is a mess! Also...it's dh's birthday tomorrow. What do you think the chances are that I could crochet a little fish to put on a card for him in an afternoon (while he's out)? Don't know where to start!

Just found this @lazylinguist www.jennyandteddy.com/fish-crochet/
Looks quick and easy!

tizwozliz · 11/09/2021 13:39

If you search for fish applique on ravelry there's quite a few patterns available for free

lazylinguist · 11/09/2021 13:48

Thank you! I think even I might be able to manage those little fish, @sophs29!

Hopefully the job works out for you crochetbug.

Lazy I’ve found DHs don’t pay too much attention to what you’re working on and assume it’s part of a wider project. I managed to crochet an amigurumi triceratops for DH’s birthday right in front of him and he just thought I was working on something else Grin

meryl I made basket to store my wool/WIPs but I’m using that more to keep all my yarn for more colourful WIPs together at home. For transporting my projects, if I’m out for the day then I tend to just take one colour and shove it in the glove box. If I’m away for a few more days and will need more than one ball, I tend to shove it in a paper bag.

CrochetBug · 11/09/2021 15:36

Thanks everyone. There isn't even definitely going to be a job to apply for. But hopefully.

I use the organza bags from wool. Warehouse to store projects. My mum has a "knitting bag" that she made herself. Probably at school in the dark ages when they expected girls to do that kind of thing Grin

My hands are ok at the moment, but I haven't picked up a hook yet Hmm

lazylinguist · 11/09/2021 16:16

Wow - the fish were so easy!

Those fish are super cute... I.did get more of the scarf done need to post some pics up got about 4 more rows done Grin

Yes I expect that's true! The fish only took a couple of minutes each though, so that was brilliant! I was so impressed by how easy it was that I'm definitely going to have a go at making more cards!

Your potential job prospect sounds good, @CrochetBug - good luck with that! It's nice when you get told that someone thinks you'd be really good at a job!

I'm beginning to think that nobody's going to be willing to give me a permanent teaching job in a secondary school now. In theory there's a shortage of us, but I'm too old and expensive and am not qualified in the right combo of languages!

I use the Wool Warehouse organza bags as project bags (and stash storage) too, @CrochetBug. Very useful!

Awww cute card! ☺️ love the little pearl bubbles!

lazylinguist · 11/09/2021 18:15

Thanks Smile. Knowing dh he will ask me what kind of fish they are supposed to be Grin. The pearl bubbles were an afterthought- I was raiding the dc's old stash of stickers looking for something suitable to use as eyes and I saw some
bead-type flower stickers with pearl centres, which I duly mutilated!

Lovely fishy @lazylinguist!

It seems like a bought bag or box is not popular!

I have just blocked a shawl I made for my MIL ages ago. It's difficult to get a good pic because it's so huge. The first one is it folded over. The beige colour is the other side.
