@NiceCardigan gorgeous colours! They look super soft and squishy too!

@InTheNightWeWillWish I love the sound of mystery bundles, and after your post I had to go on the website and have a look, I also like how you can choose which type of yarn for the mystery bundle! I'm currently trying to work through my stash and assigning all the yarn I already have to projects but then I might treat myself to one! I couldn't see in the description how much you get so I'm assuming they just do it by price and not weight?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 05/09/2021 13:09

sophs I think they just do it on price. I bought one last year which was a mix of different brands and introduced me to some yarns I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. I did find a project for most. I’ve got a couple of balls of one left and I’ll probably make a matching hat and scarf at some point but as it doesn’t have an intended recipient it’s quite far down the bottom of the list.

NiceCardigan · 05/09/2021 16:42

I haven't decided what I'm going to make yet but I think it will need to be some sort of scarf/cowl/wrap as the yarn is 2ply.

Myshitisreal · 06/09/2021 03:20

Love seeing everyone's masterpieces as always.

Just thought I would share the bookmark. I added a few extra rows of double crochet

I have 2 legs and half a body on the mo key I'm making but not sure I've joined the legs properly, think I'll have to wait and see what happens even I add some stuffing and see if it can sit easier.

Start of term has meant less time for crochet so will keep plodding on.

sophs29 · 06/09/2021 09:39

Oh I see @InTheNightWeWillWish I might have to get a bundle once I've worked my way through my stash a little bit 😁

Thank you @Myshitisreal I'm forever losing my nice bookmarks, I think my bookmark at the minute is a receipt 🙄😂

A monkey sounds cute @eitak22

I finished another pair of thick socks, these are a Christmas present for my mums neighbour, I'm trying to get ahead 😬 the alpaca wool was so soft I might make her some wrist warmers to match ☺️

My jumper is all washed and dried and it's evened the tension up nicely 🥳 the only small hitch is that it turns out my new wool soap contains that herb you use to induce labour and ever since I emptied an entire bottle of the stuff into a bath when DS1 was well overdue in a fit of desperation, the smell makes me all twitchy... Hoping it'll fade a bit or else I get used to it and associate it with knitwear instead Grin

Those are really lovely sophs, I'd be thrilled to get those as a present! Once you've worn had handmade socks all other socks are just not as comfortable!

That jumper is just stunning, Flavia! OMG at the soap smell though. Smell is so evocative! I had a bit of a traumatic time following ds' birth for a variety of reasons, and one day months later I was on a day out at a stately home and the hand soap in the dispenser in their loos was the same as the one in the hospital maternity ward. It freaked me right out! I hope you get over your association!

Thanks lazy Smile I'm sorry to hear that, it's crazy how much a smell can take you back!

sophs29 · 06/09/2021 13:11

Oh my gosh @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that is absolutely stunning! I love it! Yes hopefully the smell will make you think of different memories 😂 I tried everything when my second DS was overdue 😂

Oh thank you! Yes you say that, I've made my mum two pairs and they're all she wears now on rotation 😂

sophs29 · 06/09/2021 20:40

I wonder if anyone could be a darling and help me? (@CrochetBug I'm looking especially at you because you suggested the pattern) 😇😂
I'm reading through this sock pattern and on the foot part it just says 'work in pattern', beforehand it told me to work in shell pattern, but it hasn't this time round so I'm not sure which pattern/stitch I'm supposed to use! I haven't even started the socks yet but thought I better check before I start them and get stuck! 🙄😂 thank you in advance ☺️

CrochetBug · 06/09/2021 21:31

It means the shell pattern @sophs29 Smile

CrochetBug · 06/09/2021 21:34

So you should end up with shells on the top of your foot and plain underneath.

sophs29 · 06/09/2021 21:37

Ahhh thank you so much @CrochetBug you're a star! ☺️

CrochetBug · 06/09/2021 21:45

No worries. It's a slightly odd phrasing, that makes perfect sense when you know what it means.
The first time I saw it I phoned my mum and asked what it meant. Grin

MerylSqueak · 06/09/2021 22:25

Gorgeous @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack

On the subject of smells, an appropriate one here. My grandmother taught me to knit the basics when I was 11 shortly before she died. I now have all her old needles. I recently opened a packet of he crochet hooks and the inside still smells of the sandalwood furniture she had in her house Smile

sophs29 · 07/09/2021 07:38

Yes @CrochetBug once you told me and I re read it, I made sense of it! I was just confused because she made a point of saying shell pattern every time until that particular part 😂

Oh @MerylSqueak how lovely!! The smell of boiling potatoes (a certain kind of potato - I don't know which) takes me back to my grandads house! When I was a carer in the community one of my ladies houses always smelt exactly the same and it used to make me smile every time I went to her 🥰

lucysmam · 09/09/2021 19:09

How's everyone's week going?

I'm knackered from going back to work & haven't actually achieved much. Actually, the gardens are half sorted thanks to a new mower and strimmer that work properly so I suppose that's something! & we had a very successful, and non-stressful, return to Rainbows and Guides this week (a few of our previous Guides were pains in the bum).

I'm going to try and do a few rounds of my sock this evening...need to shower first though!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 09/09/2021 19:38

Hey lucysmam sounds pretty good to have got the garden sorted and rid of the annoying guides Grin

Not much going on here, we're all loaded with DS's cold, we're tested and it's not Covid at least. I'd forgotten what having a cold is like and I am grumpy Wink I'm doing a test knit but have frogged it twice already as my brain is mush 😴

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 09/09/2021 19:40

Oh I missed your post @MerylSqueak! That's a lovely memory to have when you open the hooks!

ForCluckSake · 09/09/2021 20:05

MerylSqueak that's so lovely I love the way smells can take you right back to a moment in time.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack oh no colds are grim at the best of time plenty of rest and lemsips are a must in our house in ready for a cold. Oh and that jumper up thread is one of the best crocheted thing I've ever seen Grin

sophs29 I have sock envy that pattern looks great.. Definitely on my to do list.

I'm working on a super long rainbow scarf for my cousin for Xmas it's taking ages but it's enjoyable to do. Still got to do a green stripe, orange stripe then repeat starting from the the purple a few times over to build the width up then fringe the ends. Am quite tempted to make a matching twisted headband ear warmer thing or a few hair scrunchies.

Also got one of these on my list to make for a Xmas gift for my sis in law oh and the other one has already requested a blankie but a am going to do a super chunky snugly type for her.

Thanks ForClucksSake I'm pleased to report I'm sniffing it on a frequent basis and I'm getting used to the smell, or that could be the cold Grin I'm getting by with hot Robinson's barley water mixed with honey and ground cloves and cold and flu tablets. Speaking of which, next dose time 🥳

Love your rainbow stripes, that's going to look fantastic!

NiceCardigan · 09/09/2021 21:20

We are back from Scotland now and I’m catching up on work and getting back to my shawl which is now going to be an autumn shawl rather than a summer one!

CrochetBug · 09/09/2021 21:44

Don't suppose you want to come and do my jungle garden @lucysmam?

The 7.30am alarms are a bit of a shock to the system after the summer Grin. And its very weird have a ds at college as he isn't in at the same time everyday. I'm sure we'll get used to it though!

I was so busy over the summer, trying desperately for some kind of normal, that now that the DC are back at school and I'm at home again my anxiety/depression have gone haywire. I don't think I allowed myself enough time to just "be" over the holidays which has been having some unfortunate side effects on my digestive system Blush
That said, it's all too easy to go back to sleep once I know DS1 is up and then I sleep all morning and feel worse when I wake up. I need to seriously implement some kind of routine. Hopefully our church cafe is reopening, that's always a reason to get up!
Other than that my hands are causing me real issues. Sad I couldn't get my thumb comfortable at all yesterday. It hurt if it was bent, and ached when it was straight. My wrists are painful today. The dr said knitting/crochet is good for them because it maintains dexterity. But it hurts Sad

I'll stop whinging now Grin

NiceCardigan · 09/09/2021 22:10

@CrochetBug hope you feel more relaxed and back into a routine soon.
