That's beautiful, @ForCluckSake! And what a cutie!

sophs I don’t think the exhaustion will be gone until the end now, when it can be replaced with a different type of exhaustion Grin I know what you mean, often the TV is just in for background or because DH is watching something. I’d rather crochet!

ForClucksSake that snood is so lovely. It’ll keep your daughter lovely and cosy through winter.

CrochetBug · 28/08/2021 23:05

Wow @InTheNightWeWillWish that's gorgeous! I have issues with anything called Phoenix but other than that Grin

@sophs29 I get bored with easy "tv" crocheting. Hence DS1s C2C blanket is only half done after about 4 years Blush

@ForCluckSake that's a lovely snood and your DD is so cute! I made snoods with matching hats and mittens for all of my nieces a few years ago. But 2 of the nieces have asked for "proper" scarves because the snoods get tangled in their hair. Fussy buggers. But of course I can't say no to them so im making scarves.

Currently working on this Tunisian pattern. I've only done Tunisian simple stitch before so have learned 2 new stitches. I'm pleased with how this is turning out.

I knitted and unpicked, re-knitted, unpicked more. I've done this pattern a few times and was racing away (mainly because I'm playing yarn chicken). Never made so many mistakes before.

But I've done both sleeves tonight fairly quickly and will try see if I can get neck and front borders done.

CrochetBug · 29/08/2021 01:51

@NanaPorsche I hate it when you can't get a pattern to work, especially when you've done it before ! I can't even cast on and complete a row of knitting though! Well I can, but the cast on row is so tight I can't do much with it. Grin My crochet starting chains used to be the same. I need to practice!

sophs29 · 29/08/2021 09:19

@ForCluckSake that looks so snuggly! The colour really suits her too, she's a sweetheart!

Yes @InTheNightWeWillWish the whole 'you'll get more energy after the first trimester' was a load of tosh to me 😂 I felt exhausted the whole time, I guess having a 2 year old at the time didn't help either 😂

@CrochetBug that is a gorgeous pattern! I've watched a Tunisian crochet tutorial before and thought 'oh that's easy' then the other day I downloaded a pattern and it was like it was written in foreign 😂😂

Oh no @NanaPorsche maybe in the back of your mind you were worried about running out of yarn and it took over your concentration! Hope it goes smoothly for you now!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 29/08/2021 17:08

I hope sneaking in a fabric-related post isn't frowned upon!😁

I've been crocheting 12" grannies for my next Candy's hug in the evenings, but I wanted to show you another hobby of mine.
I'm sorting these triangle offcuts for a scrappy patchwork quilt.
Many of them need a little trim to achieve perfect right angles, which is time consuming, but I don't mind, I find it relaxing. Same with sewing in pesky ends!🤣

Your fabric looks great, Zing - it will make an amazing quilt! I absolutely hate sewing and am awful at it, so I'm in awe of people who do it well and make lovely things! I presume you use a machine?

OP posts:
sophs29 · 29/08/2021 17:42

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba my main hobby is sewing, I used to be a sewing machinist making very expensive quilted jackets 🙄😂
That's a lot of fabric! I love the campervan one! Have you ever tried using all the odds and ends as stuffing? I've seen that as a tip before but never think it'll be as nice!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 29/08/2021 17:54

@sophs29
you mean like these?🤣 I call them "chips".
yes, I use them for amigurumi animals and have used them as stuffing for a big fluffy cushion as well.
I have some vague plans for them.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 29/08/2021 17:59

@lazylinguist
yes, all machine piecing & quilting.

I have a huge quilt that is made of hexagons and they all must be pieced by hand. which is why it's taking ages...
Here's a smaller version I made a while ago to go under Christmas tree.

sophs29 · 29/08/2021 18:09

Ahhh yes @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba 😁😂 maybe in future I'll stash mine up! I guess if you cut them small enough they won't be all lumpy and bumpy like I imagined 😂

MerylSqueak · 29/08/2021 18:26

Oh now I want to be a quilter too! I also have a hankering to learn how to smock and make embroidered nightshirts like Eastern European peasants wore in the 16th century. Why??????

lazylinguist · 29/08/2021 20:24

Wow, that does look like a lot of work! Looks fantastic though!

NanaPorsche · 29/08/2021 20:29

Finishing left border. Just setting in sleeves and sleeve seams to do.

NanaPorsche · 29/08/2021 20:30

One more row.

lucysmam · 29/08/2021 21:04

That's pretty Nana.

I've spent the past few hours working out the heel on my first sock...it involved a great many stitch markers Grin so many that it was making jangling noises every time I moved & I thought I'd broken my chair Confused. Just the foot part left to do on this one but I might do some of something else tomorrow.

Off back to catch up on what I've missed now!

Excuse the scruffy footstool thing it's on; it's a pain in the arse to clean & I haven't been arsed over the hols Blush

Done.

CrochetBug · 30/08/2021 00:30

@NanaPorsche that's very pretty!

@lucysmam those socks have been on my to do list forever. I think they have a "fat calf" size too, although they probably still won't fit me Grin

I have a whole box of fabric and a sewing machine but I've not made much. I made some face masks but they were so bloody fiddly. We need some more though really.

sophs29 · 30/08/2021 08:58

@lucysmam that sock is looking so good!!

@NanaPorsche that is beautiful! Looks so elegant in that colour!

lucysmam · 30/08/2021 09:11

Thank you both, I'm really pleased with it 😊

@NanaPorsche that's so lovely. Did you fix your issue with it?

@MerylSqueak (I think it was you, apologies if not!) Did you work out your shawl problem?

I've had a sewing pattern ready to cut from fabric for ages; I wanted to draft some sleeves for it ideally but all my attempts are a bit rubbish & don't quite meet properly so I haven't made it yet 😢

@CrochetBug I'm using the website free version - it's a bit confusing but I got this far without paying. Were I doing them again, I'd probably pay the fiver on her etsy!

MerylSqueak · 30/08/2021 09:25

Lovely cardi @NanaPorsche and sock @lucysmam. I've never got around to socks but strangely do have lots of sock wool Hmm

I have sorted out my shawl problem with Flavia's help thank you. I have two rows to do and then it's done but I am now not sure if I like it. Sigh.

I too have a sewing machine and vague ideas. I used to be quite good. I might sit down with my friend today as she's brought some cushion covers with her to finish. She's also finally made a mistake in her knitting so I finally have something new to teach her!

lazylinguist · 30/08/2021 10:06

That's really lovely, @NanaPorsche! @lucysmam - great-looking sock! I'm very nearly at the pount of starting the ribbed edge at the bottom of my Goldwing jumper. After that it will be time to start the sleeves. I'm sort of looking forward to them, because they have some more of the Fairisle pattern at the cuff, and I'm boooored with the plain stocking-stitch body! But... I'm a bit scared of doing the 'applied i-cord' cuff edging. The instructions for the last bit of it sound confusing!

NanaPorsche · 30/08/2021 17:06

Thank you all for the kind comments.

@lucysmam - had a few issues.

Did the first neck shaping on the same side as the armhole. Had to frog back to the beginning of the neck shaping.

Then (massive mistake) forgot to do the armhole shaping on the 'back' so had to frog that back down to the armholes.

Forgot the button holes on one border - had to redo.

Sewed a sleeve on back to front.

It's a cardigan knitted in one piece up to the armhole shaping (230 sts).

Never made so many mistakes before.

I would love to knit socks. (Love the colour of yours.) The only pair I made had slight ladders where I changed dpn. I would love to learn to crochet - can sort of follow YouTube videos but can't follow patterns. Did a bagful of granny squares for charity once - think someone made them into blankets.

CrochetBug · 30/08/2021 17:31

I've got loads of 10g skeins of hand died sock yarn. I'd kind of planned to make those socks @lucysmam is making with them. But I think they are merino and it seems like a waste to use it for socks. Not that there's enough to do anything else. But I can't usually afford merino. Maybe I'll make a display shelf for "yarn that's too nice to use" and just stroke it Grin
I've also got 2 or 3 balls of something... alpaca maybe that mum gave me. It was meant to be something for DS1 but she never used it. I probably could make him a snuggly scarf for college with it.
