Oooh @CrochetBug that's stunning! Was it difficult? And obviously cute dog!

@NiceCardigan that looks so cosy and warm! How amazing you made it 10 odd years ago and still wearing it and it's still in great condition!

@InTheNightWeWillWish that looks perfect for chilly evenings! I really need to crochet something for myself rather than everyone else 😂

Yes @lucysmam first one is cricket jumper style, looks the same as the Taylor swift one you made just sleeveless? And the second one I'd say looks like a boyfriend cardigan type style! They're lovey colours on that one 😍

sophs29 · 27/08/2021 21:04

And @MerylSqueak do you enjoy teaching others to knit? My mum tried teaching me once (many years ago) and she hated it, mainly because she taught herself she said she didn't feel confident teaching someone else! I'd love to pass on whatever I knew to someone ☺️ I hope my niece will want to learn either sewing or crochet ☺️

lucysmam · 27/08/2021 21:05

@sophs29 you are a genius! I could just adapt that pattern & away I go! I'll google for a boyfriend cardi pattern using dk & see what I find.

There were quite a few things dd took photo's of that she likes this time in Primark. She's going to look on Shein though before we buy, see if anything's a bit cheaper since those colours are more my usual than hers.

CrochetBug · 27/08/2021 21:07

@sophs29 no it was fairly easy I would say. It's called the Romance Cardi and went live on Ravelry today.

MerylSqueak · 27/08/2021 21:15

@CrochetBug that's gorgeous! I'm in awe of what you make and how quickly!

@lucysmam it's my understanding that heavy worsted is Aran

@InTheNightWeWillWish so cosy. Love the tassels!

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack the pattern worked out as you said and really quickly too! I've made a complete hash if undoing the cast on but I still think I might just rescue it. Thank you again.

@sophs29 I love it! I can gush a bit with my enthusiasm for how much you can do with a little knowledge. I have limited patience for many things, including and especially sewing, but seemingly infinite patience for knitting. I don't know why. I always put it down to having taught myself most of it but hearing your story, perhaps not!

My friend been happily casting on and mastered garter and stocking stitch today. I had to reprimand severely her for undoing her swatch when she made a hole as I have been trying to get her to make a mistake so I can show her how to fix it all day. We're well into the wine now though, so tomorrow is another day. Smile

sophs29 · 27/08/2021 21:21

@lucysmam yes, just maybe do a row of DC round the armholes to finish them off rather than make a sleeve! Whenever I see one of those cable type cardi's I always think of the one you made 😂☺️

@CrochetBug oh lovely! I was just on Ravelry, I'm still quite new to it, is there a way to access the patterns in your library on the iPhone app? I've saved a few 'to library' and can't find them afterwards 😂 might just be me being stupid again 😂

@MerylSqueak oh it sounds lovely! Like your own little knitting holiday with a friend but at home and with wine 😍😂

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 27/08/2021 21:31

Oh wow @CrochetBug! That is beautiful! I'm sorry your hand is sore, at least now you can wear it and look amazing while you rest your hand!

@MerylSqueak phew!

Nice cardigan @NiceCardigan! Wish I could send you some of our heat, it's sweltering here...

Love the mix of colours and the tassles @InTheNightWeWillWish

That looks great @WeatherwaxOn, it's so neat!

NanaPorsche · 27/08/2021 22:13

May I join?

I'm just knitting a little cardi for granddaughter and have cast off for the neck on the armhole edge.

I completed neck, did shoulder shaping, cast off - thought it doesn't look right.

🙄

lazylinguist · 27/08/2021 22:18

Welcome NanaPorsche! Sorry your pattern isn't looking right. If you post a photo, someone might be able to help. Probably not me though Blush.

Thank you so much.

I'm frogging back to the neck cast off.

Serves me right for not paying attention.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/08/2021 06:12

sophs I need to get on with making stuff for everyone else, rather than faffing about doing my own stuff! I want to give MIL a blanket for Christmas and I’m currently on round 28 of 108, so it’s looking unlikely with all the other things I need to do before then Blush

Welcome nana, sorry you’re having pattern problems!

WeatherwaxOn · 28/08/2021 09:35

Thanks for all the positive feedback! Am on holiday at the moment so was using scraps of wool passed on to me.
My ambition is to make a ripple/wave blanket but I need to up my game before I attempt it!

cookiemonster5 · 28/08/2021 09:59

Morning everyone. I ended up ripping my first square out. The pattern said to chain 2 between trebles but the more I did the less I liked it. I took it back and chained 1 between each treble and 2 at the corners and I'm much happier. I have stitched them together as it suggested using slip stitches through the back of the stitch but I'm not sure I like it. May take that out too and stitch through both loops.

Have a good day everyone!

Hello @NanaPorsche ☺️

@InTheNightWeWillWish after I wrote that, I actually realised I don't think I've ever crocheted something for myself! 😲 so I definitely need to find a pattern for me! Oh no, is it a wide blanket or?

Oh @cookiemonster5 they looks great! I love the alternate colours!

NanaPorsche · 28/08/2021 10:39

Was just going to ask how you tag people .....

and it happened.

Morning @sophs29

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/08/2021 11:39

@cookiemonster5

squares look great!

the easiest way to join grannies is by using "join as you go" method (JAYG for short)
A version of that is "continuous join as you go" (CJAYG), which is what I prefer to do - I make all the squares first, then join them up, there's less ends to sew in that way.

(also I never chain between the 3tr clusters and only chain 1 in corners. I prefer the more compact look this variation gives)

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/08/2021 12:31

sophs it’s this blanket - www.hookedonsunshine.co/phoenix-cal/ - so it’s a square blanket and each round will get bigger as I go!

sophs29 · 28/08/2021 12:33

Oh wow @InTheNightWeWillWish that is stunning! It will be the best present! Which colours/yarn are you using for it?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/08/2021 13:53

sophs I’m using a green colour scheme, which is MIL’s favourite colour, with a hint of blue and yellow.

That's stunning, InTheNightWeWillWish! I really like the colours.

sophs29 · 28/08/2021 14:25

Oh yes I remember now @InTheNightWeWillWish it's beautiful it really is! what's the difficulty level like do you think?

MerylSqueak · 28/08/2021 15:27

Wow! @InTheNightWeWillWish

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/08/2021 18:39

@sophs29 it caused a bit of dread when I read the pattern as there are irregular corners. So for example, going into a corner will be 2DC (US), ch 2, 3DC coming out of the corner. It does work out though if you follow it. However, it’s quite a nice pattern so far. It’s quite obvious where some of the stitches should go. Each round has the stitch count per side, so you can do one side and check you’ve got it right. There’s lots of photos for each round too. I’ve not had to frog whole rounds yet . It’s also repetitive enough on the other three sides once you’ve got the first side right but not so repetitive on next rounds to get bored. It’s only taken me so long at the minute because of pregnancy exhaustion and I’ve been favouring patterns that are easier to put down and pick up again easily.

sophs29 · 28/08/2021 18:53

Oh it sounds like a pattern I'd quite like! I use US terms aswell so that would be handy! I feel for you on the pregnancy exhaustion @InTheNightWeWillWish I remember it well! Hopefully you get some energy soon and can sit and relax whilst doing it! I find I need patterns that keep my mind busy, I don't really enjoy watching tv so would rather follow a complicated pattern than 'easy tv crocheting' iyswim!

ForCluckSake · 28/08/2021 20:43

I need to catch up this thread moves quick all the new post pics look amazing.

I feel impressed with myself tonight I've made a little snood for my little girl starting school in Sept it's in Drops Alaska 100% wool. It's only simple but am still feeling proud Blush going to order more and make her a matching hat.
