Thank you everyone ☺️ ooh I like that @tizwozliz! Good idea to print the image on!

Aww @lazylinguist Hope she got the hang of it after you showed her ☺️

cookiemonster5 · 26/08/2021 18:35

First square down. This hook is huge compared to what I have used before. I was using a 3mm and this is an 8mm. Does my tension look ok?

Those cards are amazing! Such a good idea.

CrochetBug · 26/08/2021 21:09

That looks fab @cookiemonster5 . Well done.
I love the little cards. I make cards as well, but haven't ever combined crochet and card making.

tizwozliz · 26/08/2021 21:42

Trying to crochet is a lost cause this evening

Here's my first attempt at changing wool colours.

Uff, my post won't post 🙄

I'm 2/3 of the way through my first sock leg. Still not happy with the non-puffy puff stitches but I double checked & triple checked, and I've definitely done them right 🤷‍♀️ If I make them again, I think I'll look for a puffier alternative so you can actually see the bobble effect that's on the pattern photos.

🤣🤣tizwoz she looks like she's having fun with your yarn there!

Good job Weatherwax! I still doubt I'm doing it right every time I change colour 🙄

@cookiemonster5 your square looks good! How many will you make for your blanket?

cookiemonster5 · 27/08/2021 07:21

@lucysmam I'm not sure. The squares are a lot bigger than I imagined so I think I'll make 4 or 5 then lay them out and see what I think and go from there.

sophs29 · 27/08/2021 07:38

Ooh lovely squares!

@tizwozliz oh look at her! She's getting big!

@lucysmam that's looking good, love the yarn choice! Yes I can't see the puff stitches 😣 how annoying! I usually love using puff stitches, DS's jacket has a few rows of puff/bobble can't remember which ones exactly 😂

This thread has moved quick while I’ve been away for work. I couldn’t decide what to bring with me, so I brought a bag Grin I spent a bit of time doing a baby booty. I’m not sure if I was too tired to comprehend the pattern properly or if it’s the pattern. I’ve gone wrong somewhere so I’m going to frog it and start again 😞 I did inadvertently jump on the card bandwagon and I’ve been making some little Christmas decals to give to the care home to make Christmas cards. I’ve currently managed a tree and a present, from 3 nights away Grin

soohs the card is lovely, I bet your parents will love it.

lazy happy belated birthday to mini-linguist. How did her friend get on her with her crochet?

I’m driving home this morning but then I have the afternoon off. I’m going to finish my shawl and then I can try the booties again.

Those squares look great Grin i find using a larger hook nicer to work with.

I have found my happy place.. This thread.. My crocheting with headphones in with cardi B blasting Blush all I need now is the kids back at school Grin

lazy happy belated birthday to mini-linguist. How did her friend get on her with her crochet?

She'd only done the foundation chain and couldn't understand what to do next. She'd chosen quite a fuzzy yarn and chained really tightly, so I advised starting again with a bigger hook, and explained the turning chain etc. Hopefully she got it!

She's a lovely girl - very cool 'alternative' aesthetic, and has had neurological problems causing seizures and mobility issues. She's learning crochet partly to help with her coordination and motor skills, I think. It doesn't help that she's left-handed and I'm not!

Bella coco has left handed tutorials which might help

MerylSqueak · 27/08/2021 14:30

I am currently teaching my house guest to knit (she asked). She's downstairs practising casting on!

Nice granny squares. Love the colours on yours @WeatherwaxOn. Right up my street.

CrochetBug · 27/08/2021 15:54

Another finished cardigan! I left it until the last minute and crocheted so much and so fast that I could hardly use my hand last night Confused

On to a Tunisian cowl now, it uses Tunisian knit and purl stitch which I've never done so it's a new experience for me.

What style of top/vest would you call this? Dd1's spied it in Primark earlier on today

NiceCardigan · 27/08/2021 17:56

Looks lovely @CrochetBug

I’d say that was a cricket jumper style @lucysmam

We are in the garden using the pizza oven for what will probably be the last time this year and its a bit chilly. I’ve dug out my warmest cardi that I knitted for a trip to Norway about 10 years ago!

lucysmam · 27/08/2021 18:19

Thanks @NiceCardigan, I'll try searching for a pattern for a cricket jumper!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/08/2021 18:21

lazy it took me a little while to get doing rows, I had to actually start with a granny square and then I was able to start with a chain.

I’ve finished my shawl but I think it needs to be renamed to a ‘triangular blanket with tassels’ as I think it’s a bit big for a shawl Grin It’s a bit extra with all the tassels but it’s snug and will be lovely and warm for winter evenings outside, which is what I wanted.

Knit, Crochet and Natter 6: Where there's a wool there's a way
lucysmam · 27/08/2021 19:43

That pattern's pretty @CrochetBug. Be careful with your hands though!

@InTheNightWeWillWish triangular blanket with tassels is brilliant! I'd enjoy wearing that, I'd wear it around work too -always bloomin' cold there!

I have questions if anyone can help me...

1; any pattern recommendations for similar to the top I posted earlier? I'm a bit rubbish at google & can't find anything 🙄

2; is the yarn in pic 1 aran weight in English rather than American?

3; dd also likes this cardi, which would be easier than the cables - what would you call it? She's laid claim to enough of my rainbow yarn to make her either that, or a jumper. But the jumper calls for the yarn in pic 1 &, while the rainbow yarn is thicker than most other dk (that I've used), I'm not 100% sure it'll be bulky enough as a sub. Unless I sized up maybe?

Any thoughts?

Thanks @sophs29 I'm working on a Tunisian scarf and I'm much slower at that than normal crochet. We're also dog sitting tonight and he keeps coming and sitting on me so I can't crochet Grin

Worsted is Aran.

I'd say that cardigan is ribbed or similar. I'll have a hunt for patterns.

Aww cute borrowed dog, and really beautiful cardigan, @CrochetBug!

@InTheNightWeWillWish - I love your shawl! Pretty cour combo and very cosy-looking.

NiceCardigan · 27/08/2021 21:00

Your shawl is doing better than mine @InTheNightWeWillWish I love all the tassels
