NiceCardigan I like the ripply edge too.

Your blanket's ace InTheNight, I hope your nephew likes it!

I was going to do the last 3 rows of the blanket yesterday but we were in town for hours! I only had a tiny list & somehow the girls came back with all sorts 🤔🤔

I bought myself a book from The Works of animal rug patterns, cushions and other bits. The girls have already picked cushions for themselves out of it 🙄🤣

Oh blimey! I just lost a really long post I'd written!

The upshot was I love all your projects, including the puppy. I got a job finally and I am starting yet another scarf - we'll see if this one makes it through the weekend!

It's quite an interesting pattern as it has lots of shortcuts. I can vouch that the no tail long tail cast on works.

@lazylinguist I had similar with my fluffy scarf and it got to me so much I've had to put it away for a while!

This is the pattern if anyone is interested.

lazy I love that wool. I bought the pink blue one earlier in the year with some birthday vouchers. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with it yet as I only bought one but it makes me very happy just having it. I can verify that it is hand dyed happiness.

lucysmam that book looks really cute, at least it’ll keep you busy while your girls are choosing lots of animal cushions.

lucysmam · 11/07/2021 14:21

Yay! Finally ready to add the border to the blanket! (I laid it out on my bed for a pic, the middle looks like I've lost stitches but I think it's where the cover's folded over under it 🤷‍♀️)

That looks great!

DeadButDelicious · 11/07/2021 15:37

That's a lovely blanket @lucysmam I really wish I had the attention span to finish a blanket. I always get bored about half way through. I am determined to finish this Persian tiles one no matter how long it takes!

DH is off work today and is entertaining DD so I got to finish off Ludo! He's only little so he worked up quite quickly, I started him yesterday afternoon, worked on him last night and today. He's not as orange as my iPhone is making him out to be, the yarn is a more burnt auburny colour. I like this little guy a lot! 😍

lazylinguist · 11/07/2021 15:43

That looks fab, @lucysmam! What colour are you using for the border?

OP posts:
lucysmam · 11/07/2021 16:13

Thanks all 😊 @lazylinguist I've decided to do the border as the pattern suggests, so white.

I do have almost 23 of the coloured balls though Blush so definitely enough for the dream catcher cardi. And something else!

@DeadButDelicious there have been several times I've had enough of the repetitiveness of this one! I think my next blanket will be one of the bigger CAL type ones, with lots of different stitches. I'm considering "For..." for myself.

I like Ludo, he looks strokeable!

How's the scarf going @MerylSqueak?

MerylSqueak · 11/07/2021 16:45

It hasn't been frogged yet!

Ludo is cute.

lazylinguist · 11/07/2021 17:19

Awww I love Ludo!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 11/07/2021 22:23

Ludo is so cute.

Love the blanket lucysmam

I’m now working on a dog for my friend’s little girl and it’s coming together quite quickly! Which is good as I need it by next Sunday Grin

Hi everyone, I would love to join this thread .. I've only just come across it and have already discovered loads of yarn suppliers and pattern makers I'd never heard of before.

I have to resist for now as I already have a Rowan KidSilk Haze lacy knitted jumper waiting to be sewn up (for 8 years Blush is that a record?) and the patterns and wool for two further jumpers hiding in the spare bedroom wardrobe so I am Not Allowed to buy anything else before progress has been made!

During lockdown I've taken up knitting hats. Really quick results so very satisfying. Four ribbed beanies, four fisherman's cable tweedy style, and three fair isle baby ones so far. Oh, and a fair isle headband for myself. Ages ago I used to knit fair isle jumpers - and also those Lopi circular Icelandic ones - and would like to get back to that one day.

It's been great to look at what everyone's been making. I don't have many friends who knit IRL - well, I have one but she's even slower than me so there's only very occasional knitting-related news to exchange Smile

I'll try to post photos of what I've been making shortly.

DeadButDelicious · 12/07/2021 06:21

Hello @highlandcoo looking forward to seeing what you've been up too!

Thanks all! Ludo is very happily sitting on my shelf! Now I'm eyeing up Sir Didymus and ambrocious! 😂😂

lazylinguist · 12/07/2021 08:23

Hello and welcome, @highlandcoo! I managed to not finish off a complicated leaf-patterned scarf for aaages, but I'm not sure it equalled your 8 years! Maybe 5 though. Grin

Morning all and welcome to Dead and Highland 👋

That fuzzy effect works really well on ludo Dead do you have to brush it out after you crochet it?

A random question for the crocheters on the thread, is the tension on your animiguri tight enough to hurt your hands? My Bulbasaur for DS was eating wool and the fabric was standing up by itself. I've only just got round to ripping it out after giving up and buying him a mini one instead...

Lovely blanket lucysmam!

highlandcoo · 12/07/2021 11:14

Thanks for the welcome Smile

Most of the hats I made have been given away but these baby ones are still waiting for their owners to be born ..

I’m happy with the design and the way the colours fade into each other however the pattern advises using the same size circular needle throughout and I think for the rib it needs to be smaller, particularly for the cotton which doesn’t have much stretch. My friend reckons the blue one resembles a tea cosy more than a hat Grin

And my fair isle headband is to keep my long hair from whipping round my face when out hill-walking on days when a hat is too warm. Still waiting for its first outing.
Looking at all the fab things you’ve made has prodded me into action so last night I steamed the pieces of my jumper and today I am going to get brave and start joining the seams. I think I’ve been putting it off for far too long because I’m nervous of messing it up .. but I have to have a go at some point.

Also, the neck edge needs a row of crochet to finish it and I don’t know how to crochet but I’ll worry about that later!

Oh wow, those hats are adorable Highland 😍 Good luck with your jumper! With the fuzzy wool, it hides a multitude of oops moments so you'll be done before you know it Smile

Thinking about it, I don't think I've actually had a FO for ages, it's so warm at the moment it's not helping. I like arctic temperatures with rain best Grin I should probably get on with socks or something small.

lazylinguist · 12/07/2021 13:50

Totally gorgeous hats! I'm on the lookout for a hat pattern for dh. I bought some lovely yarn in anticipation!

Highland I love those baby hats. They’re so cute. I bought a very similar headband from fat face a few years ago but it’s a bit too big.

Flavia doing amigurumi hurts my hands a little bit but only if I’ve done a lot in one day. It’s more like hand cramp though as I’m doing a round and is usually fine when I shake it out a bit. I don’t think my tension is too off… but recently tension and I haven’t really been getting on (with other projects), so I’m possibly not the best person to answer Grin Here is the tension for my current amigurumi body (unstuffed).

Yup, I use one of those dog grooming slicker brush things works a treat!

Oh wow @highlandcoo those are gorgeous!

highlandcoo · 12/07/2021 16:06

Thanks all! As I say I think the rib's a wee bit loose but a baby's head shouldn't be restricted in any way, right?

This is the hat I made DH in a sort of tweedy blue fleck. My thinking was "that looks nice and cosy" and didn't realise until DS asked for one too that fisherman's beanies are super fashionable right now. With the cables it's got enough going on to be interesting without being too tricky.

Modelled by me so turned up a bit too far on the rib I've just realised

lucysmam · 12/07/2021 19:37

Flavia I find my hands get crampy too, doing amigurumi. It helps to take breaks quite often, "shake it off" 🎵🎵 and clench my fists regularly, I find.

@DeadButDelicious, with the grooming brush, do you just brush the yarn like hair to make it fuzz?

I have a new toy to play with Grin. The green yarn's proving a touch dark on an evening & this was just over £7 on ebay so worth a go.
