Oh thats lovely! Is it for yourself???

Is this one. It just takes my brain quite a while to adjust to patterns, I'm fairly new to them. She has a video for the cable part as well so I'm sure it will be fine. It just felt like a lot. Back piece, two mini size panels. 2 sides and the hood. I really like the pattern though 😁😁😁 I've it printed out in a folder www.etsy.com/uk/listing/995056483/cozy-cabled-cardi-crochet-pattern-pdf

lucysmam · 21/06/2021 11:37

@Myshitisreal this is my version...beautifully modelled by my kitchen chair Grin. Yep, it's for me. I'm going to make a tie for the waist this afternoon so the front crosses over, then get dd1 to snap a couple of pics before I decide whether to add any decorative stitches to the bottom.

The jacket's lovely! I think I have similar saved on Ravelry. The cables seem complicated but you'll be grand once you get the hang of them...it's just practise really, the same as anything else :)

There's some epic editing going on here Grin you have to ignore the hair over my shoulders that you can clearly see the shape of 🙄 Would any of you add anything else to this?

Bollocks! I’ve forced myself to pick up a project again because I’ve got a project on the go for my nephew’s birthday in a couple of weeks. My tension is way off. I did check at the beginning but obviously didn’t register that I was off for whatever reason. I got halfway through the main blanket and I’d finished the hood before I realised it’s too big 😖

I’m not sure whether to frog it all, I’m not really sure I have the time to start from scratch. Even sizing down a hook and really making the work tight, my tension is still too big. So I’m thinking that I probably just need to adjust the pattern to the tension I’ve got (which isn’t particularly loose, so I’d have to make it particularly tight). So frustrating to finally start crocheting again and to realise it’s all wrong. The blanket isn’t far off fitting me at 5’ 4” and whilst my nephew is tall, he is only 4 and so not quite 5’ 4” yet!

sophs29 · 21/06/2021 19:49

Wow @lucysmam that looks lovely! Well done you! I think it's perfect as it is!

Oh @InTheNightWeWillWish how annoying 😣 I don't know what to suggest but I really hope you work something out soon!

lucysmam · 22/06/2021 19:33

Thanks sophs, I'm really pleased with it! I like the colours of the one I posted the pic of too so might make another at some point.

We're isolating again 🙄 so I have plenty of time on my hands to crack on with dd2's blanket & some smaller projects. Her class TA's favourite animal is a dolphin so dd's asked me to make one for her.

I've made the teacher a portable brick wall Grin Dd1's sorting the label out though; I can't get it to go any smaller than a4 & have no idea why 🤷‍♀️

MerylSqueak · 24/06/2021 21:55

Oh very nice @lucysmam. I'm wondering if you might be a redhead with your choices of colours...

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 25/06/2021 08:46

Oh that's pretty lucysmam! What stitch is that?

School holidays have started here so I've got about zero chance to get anything finished from now on. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it Grin

What did you decide about your blanket InTheNightWeWillWish? I made a hooded Pikachu one for DS when he was that age and he still uses it so big isn't a bad thing!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/06/2021 09:48

flavia I’m sort of winging it. I’ve shrunk the main blanket down a bit. It’s only a C2C blanket so the pattern isn’t thrown so I’ve done it to the size it should be. I’m going to have to redo the hood which will take a bit of working out and sizing to meet the blanket. The hood is only DC so it’s just making sure I get the chain the right number and work out how many I need to decrease by to get a nice shape at the top of the hood.

We’re seeing them in person, so I’m going to make DH have an Amazon voucher ready in case it’s horrible. Then we’ll apologise and buy him some sweets. I need to get on with it though, his birthday is really close now and I’m out most of the weekend 😬

tizwozliz · 25/06/2021 13:10

Crochet has taken a backseat here. Busy at work wrapping things up and sorting handover and busy at home sorting out the garden before puppy comes home.

I really need to find some time to finish one WIP as friend is now 38 weeks so not got a whole heap of time left :-)

lazylinguist · 25/06/2021 15:32

I'm still plodding along with my Goldwing jumper, but this thread had fallen off my Threads I'm On! Shock

Things are slowing down for me, as a couple of my primary schools have been told by the county to stop allowing visitors and peripatetic teachers to come for the moment due to cases going up. Sad

I'll have lots of time for knitting, crochet (and posting!) over the summer. I love knitting and crocheting while I'm away on holiday for some reason Smile, especially while camping! So I'll probably add a new project, but not sure what yet. Too many things to choose from!

I also love the idea of finding yarn shops near where we're staying- someone on these threads said they always picked up some yarn from their holiday locations!

OP posts:
lucysmam · 25/06/2021 17:18

It's just dc into rows of sc/chain & skip the stitch that corresponds to the chain (does that make sense?).

I wore it yesterday & think it should have maybe been a little longer & needs a different belt. The shoulders softened up after a gentle wash in the machine which helped the shape I think.

I'm currently 1 fin off finishing the dolphin dd2 requested for their TA...he's, um, a bit bigger than I thought he'd be 🙈. I've run out of steam though, he's not exciting me!

lazylinguist · 26/06/2021 09:39

I've settled on a next project - the Coffee Shop Wrap which I've had my eye on for a while. I'm making it in the original suggested yarn and colours (Lion Brand Cotton 24/7). It will be the first time I've used cotton yarn for anything, so I hope I like the texture! The colours are apparently quite a bit brighter than in the photo, but I'm ok with that. I've made a couple of triangular shawly type things before, but they were more like 'shawlettes' or scarves really, which I find I don't really wear. I fancy something more wrappy!

OP posts:
sophs29 · 26/06/2021 12:11

@lazylinguist that's lovely! Have you mentioned it on one of these threads before? I recognise it!
It took me a while to get used to cotton but that was crochet! I don't know if knitting would be the same as you haven't got a hook!

lazylinguist · 26/06/2021 12:22

Yes I think I have mentioned it before. I've just looked at reviews of the yarn on Ravelry and they're a bit mixed, but it's supposed to be a light wrap, lots of people have used that yarn to make it, and I like the look of their projects most, so hopefully it will be ok!

OP posts:
petridishmystery · 26/06/2021 14:08

Yes @lazylinguist you def have mentioned it, I remember it! So pretty. Still no knitting getting done here, just not had the urge but I can feel it coming back.

lucysmam · 26/06/2021 14:15

That's lovely lazy. Are you finishing your jumper first or going to have a second project on the go alongside it?

The dolphin's done - dd1's been teaching me to edit pics so he's gone for a "swim" in this one Grin

Knit, Crochet and Natter 5 - the roadmap to MORE YARN!
lazylinguist · 26/06/2021 14:29

3rd project alongside it really, lucysmam! I've still got the cable cushion on the go which was the KAL. I'm really bad at cable for some reason, and I got slower and slower until I kind of ground to a halt! I will pick it up again soon though.

I love your swimming dolphin! Does he have a name? I'm still yet to make a solid animal/object (knitted or crocheted). I think my first will be a Baby Yoda to join the collection of geeky ornaments and objects in our den of geekery study. He's on my list to do.

OP posts:
sophs29 · 26/06/2021 15:43

Awww @lucysmam that little dolphin is lovely! Your DDs TA will be so pleased with it! Is it an end of year gift? Smile

lucysmam · 26/06/2021 16:22

Grin he is a bit bigger than I envisioned him being 🤷‍♀️🙈 . Their TA's been absolutely amazing this year. He is an end of year gift - I suggested a small star I found but dd wanted both. I've not mentioned the star again, I think he's enough.

lazy, no, he doesn't have a name yet. I'm sure dd will come up with something unique for him.

I won't mention to dd about baby Yoda - she likes him too 🤦‍♀️

sophs29 · 26/06/2021 18:34

Such a great gift @lucysmam especially as it's something personal to them! Extra special!
I've been thinking about what to get my DS's nursery teachers as I'm sure they get enough 'best teacher' mugs etc Grin I quite like the idea of a little plant with the message 'thank you for helping me grow' in it! Would've liked to crochet them something but I neither have the time or enthusiasm right now!

lucysmam · 26/06/2021 18:40

Her teacher has a small brick wall done the same way as the blanket "for those moments when you feel like you're talking to yourself". He's only had their class since January, and a fair bit of it's been online but there are certainly times with them when it'd be easier talking to a brick wall Grin (I'm part of their bubble too).

I don't know him as well as I do the TA, although I did spend most of my time on KS1, pre-covid

NiceCardigan · 26/06/2021 20:37

I can’t think of anything I want to make at the moment (and am quite busy so need something easy) so am making crochet squares out of my stash. I’ve got lots of blue and grey so I’m using that up.

Love the dolphin @lucysmam.

petridishmystery · 26/06/2021 20:46

I’ve dragged this out the cupboard - started it in about nov 2018, when I was with my ex, was supposed to be for him. He picked the colour. I was still working on it when he broke up with me in July 2019. I didn’t want to waste the work I’d done so I didn’t unravel it but i don’t know what I’ll do with it when it’s finished so I really only drag it out when I’ve got nothing else i want to work on. Think I’ve mentioned here before that I’m not quite over him yet (yes even after nearly two years) but I have this sort of…superstition isn’t the right word, but this idea that I’ll do the final stitch and it’ll coincide with me finally being over him 😅 in which case I should probably get a shift on and get it finished!
I’ll just donate it I guess, I don’t want to keep it but I don’t really want to give it to anyone I know either - I’m one of those people who puts a huge amount of significance on physical objects.
