Little bee is very cute!

sophs29 · 05/06/2021 13:09

Oh what a cute little bee face @lucysmam

lucysmam · 05/06/2021 16:12

I'm rather pleased with the bee now he's finished 🐝

Not a scooby what to ask for for him though 🤷‍♀️

Thanks @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack - I’m so happy with it, and it’s so nice to design something yourself and have it turn out well! I do need to block it though as the border knit effect stitches need to look very straight - what do people use for blocking large items? Haven’t blocked a blanket for years!

I might just write the pattern up based on this one so I can start selling it and then add the photos of the other colourway later. Also need to finish the matching cushion!

It is stunning, love the colours so much. I have a rainbow blanket on my to do list. I tend to use the foam mats designed for children and spray it down with water, pin it to the foam and then leave to dry.

Love that bee, lucysmam!

Both beautiful the bee and the blanket.

To block big things I upturn the mattress in the spare room.

lucysmam · 05/06/2021 22:03

I've carried on with the other half of my jackety thing tonight - only one row. I think, now I'm doing this half, that I placed my dc in the chain spaces and the spaces under my sc (does that make sense?) rather than in the chain spaces & in the sc, which is what I had intended 🤷‍♀️🙄 I'll switch how I'm doing it on my next row of dc though, I don't think I'll ever see anyone who'll care that much & it doesn't look too different I don't think.

I'll probably carry on at some point tomorrow...after I start the octopus.

I plan to carry on with blanket once the girls are back at school - it's easier to spread out at the kitchen table with it when no-one's about!

CrochetBug · 05/06/2021 23:09

Lots of talent here as always. Sorry I've been quiet. Finally finished one of my part tests. 1down 2 to go. Typically it's too warm to need a jumper now. Grin

sophs29 · 06/06/2021 05:32

Oh wow @CrochetBug that looks very neat and love the colours!
Silly question but is that all crochet? The navy part looks so tight like it's knitted? It's gorgeous!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 06/06/2021 06:04

This thread fell out of ‘threads I’m in’… again. Anyway, found you all again. Some lovely stuff being made. As always.

I’ve not been managing any crochet. It’s too hot and I’m too tired. I’ve got a few things coming up that I wanted to gift something crochet at so I need to just get on with it. As the birds have woken me at the arse-crack of dawn again, I might go clean the bathroom (dogs had a bath last night so the bathroom is carnage), then force myself to do some crochet.

lazylinguist · 06/06/2021 09:13

Yes, it's going to be too warm to wear mine too, @CrochetBug! Although knowing how slow I am and the Cumbrian weather, one never knows...

I'm on the one-colour stocking stitch 'knit 25cm even' bit of my Goldwing jumper now, so it's great tv knitting. I love these seamless patterns - I am terrible at sewing! My only worries atm are the sizing (as ever) and the fact that the Fairisle yoke looks kind of bigger and bulkier than the main body. I'm hoping that blocking will help with that though.

I'd recommend putting all the stitches on a few sets of needles or waste yarn and trying it on if you haven't already @lazylinguist it'll save you doing what I did and carrying on merrily until I found the finished object could fit both me and DH in it Grin It looked fine all scrunched up on the needles... If it's a bit big now you can add a bit of waist shaping as you go.

Wow, I didn't realise you'd designed it too @SinkGirl! That's amazing! I generally steam block blankets on an ironing board rather that wet block them, they take up so much space...

That's a lovely lace pattern and colours @CrochetBug!

I am so tired this morning, one of my neighbours house alarms went off every couple of hours or so for 20 mins in the early hours. I'd quite like to curl up into a ball and sleep but the DC slept though most of it and are currently bouncing around like energy filled balls of enthusiasm 😴

SinkGirl · 06/06/2021 12:17

I’m just rubbish at pinning out and need wires I think to get the best finish. I usually wouldn’t bother, but the border lines look a little bit wavy.

Trying to find the motivation to redo the second half of the big one... but ordered yarn to make a cardigan so yeah... probably will be delayed 😬 I really need to get these patterns written up but will have to wait another week until my boys go back to school so I can concentrate. Really need to make some videos too.

CrochetBug · 06/06/2021 12:45

@sophs29 it's all crochet. I can't knit well enough to make clothes!

MerylSqueak · 06/06/2021 14:26

Ok @SinkGirl that's made me think of another question. Does anyone use wires for blocking? Are they worth it. I'm often on the brink of buying them but am never sure if they are worth it.

MerylSqueak · 06/06/2021 14:27

I didn't mean to put Ok!

tizwozliz · 06/06/2021 14:55

I may have just earned an afternoon on the sofa to crochet with my feet up by dropping something heavy on my foot :-S

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 06/06/2021 18:22

Ouch Liz, hope nothing is broken! You definitely deserve to sit and crochet for that!

I've never bought wires MerylSqueak, I see the occasional review even on what looks like genuine knit pro ones on Amazon saying they're rusty out of the tube and it puts me off.

SinkGirl · 06/06/2021 21:42

I’m tempted by these - there are photos of blankets being blocked and looks really easy

Knit Pro KP10877 Knit Blockers, Pack of 20 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L9279SY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_7YKFJ3V17PDRAE994W7P?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 06/06/2021 22:01

I have those and I really like them, they give a much neater edge than pins do.

SinkGirl · 06/06/2021 22:06

Think I’ll get some - would one pack be big enough to block a throw or should I get two?

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 07/06/2021 10:14

I don't think one pack would be big enough for a big throw, but they do have holes at the bottom so you can thread a bit of waste yarn through the edge of the blanket and use that along with them.

SinkGirl · 07/06/2021 10:59

Will get a few packs then. Thank you! Feel like I’ve been stuck on this forever - I’m so jealous of fast crocheters / knitters. Have never been quick!

lazylinguist · 08/06/2021 17:02

Hello all. Having a bad day and looking forward to some knitting to take my mind off things later. (Yr11 dd complete meltdown over 6th form choices, refused to go to school etc Sad).
