Thanks! Smile

Wow, I love that InTheNight! It's huge!

lucysmam · 07/03/2021 14:06

Omg! 76 stitches is magically becoming 77 on this row & I have no idea where I'm picking up the extra one from Confused

I'm going to try pinning each bit according to how many it should have & see if that helps.

I haven't actually achieved anything yet today other than frogging row 4 twice, again 🙄🙄🙄

CrochetBug · 07/03/2021 14:23

Wow @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that jumper is amazing!!! Definitely something to aspire to!

Even as a crafter I love receiving handmade things. Possibly even more so now I know how much work goes into them! Sorry. Can't remember who asked about that to tag)

@InTheNightWeWillWish I love it! Mines huge too, did you use Aran?

@lazylinguist I've not tried fringes, but don't see why that won't work. Worth a try anyway!

Oh dear @lucysmam. Imagine how proud you'll be once you nail this pattern!

I can't seem to get my body clock to switch back to normal hours so have only just woken up Hmm. We were going to go dvd take photos of our new Banksy that appeared this week (totally outs location to anyone who knows) before DS1 goes to stay at my mums. But having slept late and still needing to have a wash and lunch before we go, we've decided to go after school one day. Its not like its going anywhere!

I think I need about 3 more dc rounds on my shrug and then I'll call it finished.

Oh and hello @jennyz123. Welcome. Pull up a chair, just push the yarn out of the way and help yourself to a drink and biscuit Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/03/2021 14:36

@lazylinguist I think a nice simple border with a fringe might work with it, especially as yours is the two colours so less busy. The border is very pretty but it feels a bit wasted on such a busy blanket and I know part of the aim of the blanket was to teach a variety of stitches but I think it’s one where less might be more.

@CrochetBug no o used DK Blush As this was my first attempt at anything bigger than a scarf and the first thing that mentioned tension, I made the swatch. My swatch was off with the tension in the directions (or perhaps my measuring was off Grin) so I used a 5mm hook but at some point between the swatch and starting the blanket my tension got looser. I imagine if I’d use Aran, I’d be able to use it as a carpet!

sophs29 · 07/03/2021 15:10

Oh wow @InTheNightWeWillWish I love your blanket!
I need to start my border, hoping to have a nice bath soon and then sit down for the evening to start it! Did people find the CAL border went quite slow or?

lucysmam · 07/03/2021 15:30

I did it!! Goodness knows where the extra stitch came from 🤷‍♀️ I have celebrated by pouring a glass of wine while I supervise tea (prep done this morning).

I do keep picking up an extra yarn over my hook while doing the behind fptc (us tc) though so it's slow going to make sure it's right.

Dd1's itching to know what it is Grin. At this rate, she might know by Christmas 🎅

lazylinguist I think tassels would look good!

InTheNight that looks cosy. I like a blanket on a cold night 😊

Are anyone else's @mentions not working? I usually get an email but have missed a few now 🤷‍♀️

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/03/2021 15:55

lucysmam I love a blanket most of the time! DH has bagged this one though!

sophs I found the border quite slow going tbh but I had to frog rounds a few times due to getting it wrong and losing yarn chicken. I used stitch markers to work out the first round because some sections didn’t seem equal, so that probably slowed it down a bit but did mean I could eye it up for each side and make them even.

sophs29 · 07/03/2021 16:06

Ahhh okay @InTheNightWeWillWish thank you! I'll try and be extra careful!

Kate105 · 07/03/2021 16:10

Omg @Flavia I’m going to say it again... Witchcraft! That jumper is amazing! Also @InTheNight blanket is gorgeous, what a productive Sunday you guys are having!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/03/2021 16:21

Where is everyone’s favourite place to buy buttons (cheaply)? Most of the buttons on deramores and WW seem to be out of stock and have been for ages. Amazon has big packs of buttons but it’s just a mix of what you get. I’m looking for buttons for different projects and don’t want to take the risk with a mixed bag.

CrochetBug · 07/03/2021 16:47

I've got hundreds and hundreds of buttons. Mostly from TheYarnSmithUk on etsy. She used to do a crochet subscription box which i got and it often had buttons in. Hence I have so many.
Do you want anything in particular? I might have some that I'd be happy to press send on. Not sure I'll ever use them all! Although I did once use a whole jar of buttons on one scrapbook page Grin

My @ mentions haven't worked for months. I thought I must have turned them off, but nope Hmm

lazylinguist · 07/03/2021 16:55

My @ mentions work sometimes but sometimes they don't! Confused

I also have a button collection, happy to look and see if I have enough matching if you can give some idea. Worth a shot xx

petridishmystery · 07/03/2021 17:17

Hello all, I am still here btw just quietly watching as not had much to add. Looking forward to seeing the KALs!

This is one of my current projects, it’s going to hopefully be a blanket sweater (I say hopefully as I’ve made a few and I am so bad at sewing up the sleeves so they look a bit poo.)

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/03/2021 17:22

@crochetbug my mum has got hundreds of buttons, she inherited my great-grandma’s button box. She’s going to send me some buttons for bunny eyes. I also need some buttons for my mum’s cushion cover but it’s one of those I’m not sure what I want and probably need to try a few different buttons to see what works! I feel like I can’t ask my mum to send me buttons for her own present. However, if she lived closer I’d probably ask her to drop her button box round and let me have a look through and sneak a few out Grin I might try Etsy, otherwise my mum is getting a present with assembly required Grin

lucysmam · 07/03/2021 18:09

@petridishmystery is that one of those that's done like a rectangle then sleeves made from the ends (does that even make sense?). I want to make myself one, or more, of them. They seem so practical compared to my blanket scarves!

@InTheNightWeWillWish eyes are dirt cheap on ebay...I keep pinching them from my friend though Grin Good job she has boxes of them lurking about!

I'm onto my next row; wonder how many extra stitches I can add this time Grin

lucysmam · 07/03/2021 18:26

2 extra this time 🤣🙄

CrochetBug · 07/03/2021 18:30

I'm sorry @lucysmam I shouldn't laugh but I'm giggling away here!

Another project is finished (well, I might add a couple of rows of dc to the 'sleeves' actually). Now I just need to go out so I can wear it. Please excuse the fact I am a) in my pyjamas and b) hideously overweight. I did spare you the sight of my face though Grin

petridishmystery · 07/03/2021 18:30

@lucysmam yup that’s the one! I’m determined to make one I could actually wear out the house but I’m so bad at all the finishing off parts of projects, like sewing together or weaving in ends.

petridishmystery · 07/03/2021 18:33

Have posted on the wrong name above and asked for it to be changed!

@CrochetBug that’s lovely! The same kind of thing as what I’m doing I think.

I need to learn to crochet because my mum bought me a soft toy kit for Christmas but I have no attention span. I didn’t get it within the first ten minutes so I gave up in a huff.

This is also why I only do knit and purl or mock crochet stitch when knitting.

lazylinguist · 07/03/2021 18:35

Wow - that's brilliant @CrochetBug! The colours look really good with your hair colour.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 07/03/2021 18:38

I'm baffled CrochetBug; when I pin the places where certain groups of stitches end, it counts fine...when I just do it, it doesn't 🤷‍♀️🤣

Is your scarfy wrap comfy? The 'arms' don't do uncomfy slipping down your shoulders or anything? I do really like the look of them!

CrochetBug · 07/03/2021 18:44

Thanks. Its just a square folded in half so sounds like the same thing @petridishmystery.
The yarn is Hayfield Spirit and I love the colours so much. I want to buy all of them! My hair is a mess Grin

My mum bought me a big ball of yarn and some really long needles for the cushion cover. So I'm ready to go. Or at least try anyway Grin

CrochetBug · 07/03/2021 18:48

I've only worn it for 2 mins, so hard to say for definite but it doesn't seem uncomfortable though. It doesn't really have 'arms' as such. Just holes.
I've seen some that are more like scarves with sleeves. I might make one of those next. Just in time for summer!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/03/2021 19:01

@crochetbug is that a yarnspirations one? I’ve got something very similar in my saved bookmarks. That’s the queue to get in the queue. I’ve also seen those scarf sleeves things and want one but I’ve only seen the finished items on Facebook so I either need to experiment or hunt for a pattern.
