Really enjoying all your pics again. Such talent here.

Thank you so much @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack for your answer on the last thread. It does look like double miss stitch! Grin

My cognition is so poor (infection which has impacted on my comprehension) would you be able to explain the rest of your answer to me, r e a l l y slowly Smile I'm not even sure that was me who knitted that as I can't yet follow patterns!

It looks like you repeat each row twice like this, but it might be easiest to unpick the last triangle and write it out as you do..

@lazylinguist absolutely I think it is more exciting not knowing what you will get and makes you learn to be more creative with it!

@sophs29 are Wool Warehouse reasonably cheap IYO? I haven't checked them out yet but I will do! Just want to fill my shelves with yarn lol.

lucysmam · 27/01/2021 20:08

@CrochetBug @tizwozliz thank you both; I can't picture it but will carry on in that case! Glad I didn't pull it back & try again now, I was considering trying to reduce it to 51 before I got in the shower. Glad you agree the 51 is an error too!

sophs29 · 27/01/2021 20:10

@yarncakes I found them from being on this thread and think they're really good priced! Compared to eBay, for example which is cheap but then you have postage which makes it a ridiculous price!
Wool warehouse is only £2.95 postage or free if you spend £25 and the code RAV10 (or many other codes the lovely people on this thread have) will give you 10% off!
But I might get one of those bundles one day just to be more creative as you said in your last post!

lucysmam · 27/01/2021 20:15

@yarncakes I've only used WW but was pleased with the amount of yarn I squeezed out of just over £25 (should have been around £28 but used code sc23 for 10% off) and then free delivery.

My friend buys loads of the bundles you mentioned from ebay though & she's always pleased with them too. I've been wary up to now, because I've not really had a clue what I was doing, but might try one at some point just to see what I get.

No problems @WaldenintheWoods, I'd tried to chart it out using keyboard symbols but not explained that's what I was doing. It didn't work that well!

I think it's a triangle pattern created over 6 rows by using knit stitches on a background of purl stitches. If I'm right, when you flip it over, it should look like a triangle pattern of purl stitches on a knit background.

It does sort of look raised and a bit bumpy but I think if it was soaked then dried flat it would even out. I don't think it's a textured stitch giving that effect.

So, I think it could be this
Cast on 19 stitches
Row 1: purl 4, knit 1, purl 9, knit 1, purl 5
Row 2: knit 5, purl 1, knit 9, purl 1, knit 4
Row 3: purl 3, knit 3, purl 7, knit 3, purl 4
Row 4: knit 4, purl 3, knit 7, purl 3, knit 3
Row 5: purl 2, knit 5, purl 5, knit 5, purl 3
Row 6: knit 3, purl 5, knit 5, purl 5, knit 2

To make it longer, you repeat this over again once you finish row 6.

I've done it out as a proper chart so you can see what I mean in picture form.
I also had a look in my stitch dictionary an the closest pattern I could find was a chevron pattern created by purls on a knit background.

Sorry for the essay, I hope it makes sense!

CrochetBug · 27/01/2021 21:25

That looks lovely @lazylinguist

lucysmam · 27/01/2021 21:46

That looks really nice lazylinguist! They're all working up really quickly, I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 pictures.

CrochetBug & tizwoz, I've done another few rounds of 54 - you were both right; I just couldn't picture how it would work up the character rather than just round and round, getting wider each time Confused. It's looking very colourful!

Snackz · 27/01/2021 22:53

Joining again if that's okay?! 😁

I've just finished the baby cardigan and think I'm going to start on a baby dress next 😊

petridishmystery · 27/01/2021 23:29

Hey all! Haven’t been posting but I have been following, enjoying seeing everyone’s CAL progressing’

I’m making a sock. This is my third time making a sock. The other two times, the socks were so hideous I never bothered making the second sock (am fully aware that that attitude will not help me get any better!)

Decided to try again and was pleased with it until it was time for the heel, I got halfway thru decreasing and realised I’d started from the wrong peg and it was about 7 pegs less than it should have been! Hoping it might be alright as the pattern was a guide and said you may need to adjust but we will see. Going to keep going and see what sort of disaster the toe turns into when I cast off...

Runforwine · 28/01/2021 08:15

Incase anyone is interested Deramores have 18% off at the moment with code
KNITTING18 or 15% with code KNITTING15.

lazylinguist · 28/01/2021 08:38

Morning everyone! Those of us doing the CAL, have the speedy folks paused, or have you continued onto Part 2? And have all of us now finished Part 1 (except Mindy - I'm guessing you'll just keep doing a bit when you can - no hurry, you have such a lot on your plate. Flowers )?

OP posts:
InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/01/2021 08:53

I’ve not finished part one of the CAL Blush but I’ve got 1.5 rows left and should be able to get that done this evening after work.

lazylinguist · 28/01/2021 09:02

Excellent- good going, @InTheNightWeWillWish! I'm rubbish at estimating how long things will take me! Doing Part 1 in a week sounded quite a lot, so I'm surprised I got it done.

OP posts:
InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/01/2021 09:19

I’ve never done something this big. I attempted a baby blanket but had to frog it. That took a lot longer to work up (before I frogged it). I thought this was going to take me a lot longer to work up but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. My wrist warmers for a friend that would take 2-3 hours - I’ve got one done! So I don’t think it’s that I’m quicker than I thought but probably more this pattern as it’s quite repetitive. I think the main thing slowing me down on the CAL is the constant changing colours and counting my stitches to make sure I’ve not gone wonky somewhere Grin

lazylinguist · 28/01/2021 09:44

Ah yes - the lack of colour changes within sections in mine may be speeding me up a little bit. Not compared with the lightning-fast @CrochetBug though! Grin

sophs29 · 28/01/2021 10:05

I've paused for now @lazylinguist I'm trying to make something for my DM, but I don't mind if people want to go ahead and start part 2
@InTheNightWeWillWish yes the rows are quite easy to remember once you get a few stitches done so I think that's another reason they're all coming along quicker!
I love it so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what the 'Easter eggs' look like!

lucysmam · 28/01/2021 11:01

@CrochetBug would you mind linking the crewmate pattern you've used? I think I prefer doing them this way.

bruffin · 28/01/2021 11:05

checking in

lazylinguist · 28/01/2021 13:08

Hi bruffin. Hope everyone makes it to the new thread!
petridish - looking forward to seeing your sock(s)!

I might start on CAL Part 2 this evening.
