Sorry to hear that, CrochetBug. I hope it goes as well as such things can. Flowers

Sorry to hear that CrochetBug Flowers

I've seen the spice of life blanket on Ravelry and it's gorgeous!

I'm considering getting another sock project lined up for when I finish these socks instead of doing what I should do and just finishing my WIPs. Socks are so much easier to pick up and put down than jumpers. I've got one complete sock and one hobo one so far so not long to go Grin

Thanks everyone. It was a beautiful service for a wonderful 92 year old man. He will be sorely missed.

Glad it was a lovely service.

I'm seeing the limitations of my colour choices now. I was really hapy with my first row of Shell Fans, but now that I'm doing the next row, you can't really see the fans any more, because they blend in with the row above. I could do the row above in white, but I want to stick with my 1 colour per section plan!

Can I join? I started crochet just shy of 2 years ago, but between having a baby (who’s now 15 months) and starting an access course I hadn’t done any in ages until I picked up a few wips at the weekend. Feels so nice to be doing something just for the fun of it again!

@crochetbug sending socially distanced hugs 🤗

Some cute doggies here 🐶

I just want to say thank you to everyone for your kind words and gentleness. I've literally cried far too much than is healthy but am trying to look after myself. The other cat misses her terribly.

Tell me, did the poster get a baby's cardigan pattern ok? I have one in my crochet book if it helps? Just tag me if you want the pattern

My mohair exciting purple wool has arrived so I'll open that soon.

My mega delivery is due tomorrow for my special gift to myself mosaic blanket. It think it's gonna be skulls, cats and possibly penguins. Completely barmy of course . I need to get lost in something. Gonna do some sketches up later 🤔

The CAL pics are beautiful. I love the crazy colours and mixed and surprisingly, the simplicity of @lazylinguist. I'm a bit of a crazy colour Crocheter but it's just stunning 👌

♥ To all.

Welcome, AngeloMysterioso!

My doggie is looking less cute in his current posture. He has no shame! Don't click on the photo if you are easily offended. Grin

I also want to go back and look at that Jenn Stringers jumper I wanted to make, so I can browse yarns for it. Don't suppose anyone fancies doing a jumper KAL? Grin

Jenn Stringers?! Hmm Jenn Steingass Grin Stupid autocorrect. I'm posting on my tablet, which I don't use much. I clearly haven't yet taught it that linguists do not like their language to be corrected. Who on earth does it think it is?!

Ok, now I'm worried my awful dog photo is going to make you all run away appalled, so I'm going to set up the new thread now, so you don't have to keep looking at it!

A jumper CAL would be fun. But I'm an odd size and shape so need to learn how to adapt the sizes before I make any more clothes Grin

Does anyone have any tips on how to not have a visible turning chain when making a granny square? Despite having been crocheting for about 3 years I'm making my first one and it has a visible line running up it.
Turning for each new round makes it less obvious, but the pattern i was using said not to turn Hmm

Predictive text is Brutal sometimes 😂

Can anyone advise on pockets?

Im making the enclosed, well I've changed the stitch pattern. I'm almost finished the scarf then will make the pockets.

I was going to fleece line them which is where I get unsure.

I was going to do a rectangle of fleece, fold
it and sew up each side, attach by sewing to the pocket (leaving an edge of crochet), then sew (or crochet slip stitch) the pocket onto the scarf.

Did this make sense. Am I over complicating it? This is the kind of thing I just wing and cross my fingers 🤞

@lazylinguist my friends dog always lays like that. Exhibitionist! Autocarrot is a pain. My phone has decided that belive is a word and autocorrects believe to it all the time Hmm

Id wing it too @Myshitisreal and do what you said.

I'm sneaking in right at the end -typical- to say how cheerful & inspiring this thread has been to follow Smile Thank you Op!

I'm slightly in awe of all your amazing projects and I am miles away from understanding patterns. My only project is one rib scarf.

Can any of you clever knitters tell me what these stitches are in these squares I made a few years back? I was very ill & just cannot remember Confused I also couldn't count and they need unpicking & re-doing if I'm up to it.

@crochetbug thank you! I have little angel stitch markers so I'm going to put one on each pocket and maybe fancy it up a little as I'm going to put a nice border on providing I've enough wool.

My mums always been a bit uhhhhhh kind of like down her nose at my crochet, so the fact she's asked me to make this 🤯. I want her to say "oh my god I can't actually believe you made this" 🙏

Hi Waldeninthewoods! I'm presuming your username is a Thoreau reference? The first picture looks like moss stitch to me. I'm not sure about the second. See you all on the new thread!

Yes it is lazylinguist Smile

Moss stitch sounds familiar, thank you. I tried Google Lens on them earlier & didn't get very far.

I agree with lazy I think it’s double moss stitch. The second looks more like a pattern than a stitch to make arrows or triangles. It looks like you repeat each row twice like this, but it might be easiest to unpick the last triangle and write it out as you do..

I’m gonna dive right in and ask the crochet-ers for some advice... I did another willow square this evening, followed the same tutorial, used the same hook etc... but this one has turned out a fair bit bigger than the others. Any idea why that could be? It’s the top left in the pic...

Most likely cause is that you didn't crochet as tightly as you did before @AngeloMysterioso. Did you do the others recently or have you had a crochet break?

Report
AngeloMysterioso · 27/01/2021 01:52

I did two quite a while ago, started a third, had quite a long crochet break, finished the third, did the fourth and then tonight’s.

Report
lazylinguist · 27/01/2021 08:30

I have that trouble with granny squares too, AngeloMysterioso. With mine it's partly that I make lots of different granny squares, but also that I've made them infrequently over a long period of time, and my tension hasn't been consistent!

Btw, everyone can now decamp and join us on the new thread!
