Fab thank you for the replies Smile crocheting feels so cosy at this time of year

Seanbhean · 27/12/2020 22:16

Hello! 👋 Can I join?
I'm mid way through a Wool and the Gang beginner cardigan. I completely mismeasured the first 2 pieces so I'll have to go back and add a few more rows but I'm putting it off until I finish everything else BlushSmile

Fairisle yoke going well on my jumper!

Someone here might be able to help me actually; where would be a good place to look for a cardigan pattern along the lines of Taylor Swift's Cardigan? (I know it's not TS in the pic - it just shows it better)

I've found my people Grin 2021 is going to be the year I get all my half finished projects completed i think I had the same goal last year

Barmbraic · 28/12/2020 00:32

We will provide virtual tissues, tea and sympathy, Barmbraic!

I fancy a little mooch about on Ravelry today to find something to make with my wool from MIL. Imo one of the best things about Rav is the ability to search patterns according to the type and quantity of yarn you have!

@lazylinguist love Ravelry so many ideas, patterns, wool etc. If anyone wants to follow me on there my user name is Faith76 😊

@Barmbraic there is a brilliant step by step I use all the time for socks called Silvers Sock Class. In fact I am using this now to do mine. www.kristinbelle.com/socks This is the link hope it works fingers crossed. It is a honey bee website in the main now but she still has her sock class section’s on there. Never been brave enough to try two at a time etc prefer my double pointed needles

Superspecs · 28/12/2020 09:16

@midnightstar I did a two at a time sock class at a knitting festival earlier this year- it was complicated! I have stuck with one at a time for now. I use winwick mum's basic sock pattern she has some great tutorials www.winwickmum.co.uk/p/sockalong.html?m=1

Rae36 · 28/12/2020 09:30

Hey all, can I join? I've been knitting for years, it would be nice to chat.
I'm knitting a rainbow coloured cowl with some mini skeins I got as a Christmas present. Just knitting in the round, dead easy.
I want to start something more complicated to see me through lockdown, I had a good mooch around Ravelry last night with a big glass of brandy in my hand. I saw someone earlier mention Jennifer Steinglass, I love the look of all her sweaters. The other thing I really fancy is a hoodie called The Oa by Kate Davies, it looks like it would keep me occupied for a long time, but cost a fortune in yarn. So I think I'm going to go for a jumper called Cosmic Dreamer. I'll have a look for colours today, that's my favourite part

Rae36 · 28/12/2020 09:31

And I love two at a time socks. I knit sleeves and gloves and everything that way too. Learning to do it at a knitting festival last year was a revelation.

lazylinguist · 28/12/2020 09:44

Hi Rae36 - I've just decided to make a cowl too, with the multicoloured yarn I got for Christmas. Very simple pattern!

I'm a fan of Kate Davies. I bought one of her books a while back, but most of the patterns look pretty tricky! Although, I'm definitely back into Fairisle now so maybe I'll have a look...

Many thanks @bruffin. I'd tried Ravelry with no joy :(

Rae36 what are 2 at a time socks?

Midnightstar76 · 28/12/2020 10:23

@Superspecs yes I am a fan of winwick but have never tried out her sock patterns yet. Thank you for the link 😊

Midnightstar76 · 28/12/2020 10:25

@Rae36 That will be a New Years resolution for me to tackle two at a time.

lucysmam · 28/12/2020 10:39

Ah, it's a knitting pattern :/ I've tried many times but struggle to master knitting.

I'll keep hunting.

Rae36 · 28/12/2020 12:22

what are 2 at a time socks?

Knitting 2 socks/sleeves/gloves at the same time on a big circular needle instead of one after the other.

I think it's genius. You only need to count rows once, they definitely end up the same length, you never drop a needle down the side of the sofa....

aurora12digits · 28/12/2020 12:29

Place marking.
Love this thread.

Hi everyone 👋

I'm so close to finishing my hiking jacket but somehow sleeves in plain stockinette sap my motivation so I've been working on my brioche one instead.

I'm wondering how feasible it'll be to make it reversible, I can't decide if I like the wrong side or right side best.
