I'm still thinking I may end up making the blanket longer than the original. I want it to go over the end of the bed and drape down at the sides. I'm wondering about doing a longish fringe on either end too.

I'm quite tempted to try and use the CAL along pattern to make placemats using cotton yarn...

Buntyforgirls · 24/01/2021 10:57

Hello All! I love knitting, have taken it up again after many many years, and sloooowly improving!
Love all the chatter, and enjoying the CAL, looking forward to KAL?
One day would like to crochet but all I can manage is chaining at the moment- if that is the correct term!?
Have completed an iPad stand, and finding it very useful! Happy crafting!

That's a good idea, tizwozliz!

Welcome, Buntyforgirls. I like your iPad stand - cute and useful!

A fringe would look lovely @lazylinguist I haven't managed any crocheting yet today, hoping for a cosy movie afternoon so I'll get some crocheting in Smile

Great idea for the iPad stand @Buntyforgirls

lazylinguist · 24/01/2021 12:54

I got some done before anyone else was up, but probably won't get back to it until this evening. Soup-making (done), dog-walking, changing all the beds and helping dc assemble Lego sets to sell on Ebay are all on today's agenda.

CrochetBug · 24/01/2021 13:40

Sell Lego??? What blasphemy is this @lazylinguist?! DS would rather pick his eyes out with a rusty spoon than sell Lego!

I've managed to get my body clock totally backwards. I didnt go to sleep until sometime close to 7 am Hmm

Its so so cold here. I'm under 2 blankets and I'm still cold. My fingers are frozen. Crocheting should warm them up Grin

lazylinguist · 24/01/2021 14:52

Grin My dc got a lot of use out of their Lego for years, but they definitely don't want it any more, and some of it should fetch a good price!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 24/01/2021 15:01

It does retain its price, although DS says he's never selling his. To be fair, my brothers (both in their 30s) still collect Lego and my Grandad has a few sets too and he's 86 Grin

bruffin · 24/01/2021 15:17

Im 58 got a lego Hedwig for my birthday. I used to buy discontinued Harry potter lego for dd and it was expensive.

CrochetBug · 24/01/2021 16:26

Part 1 finished. Smile

Wool shops other than wool warehouse / deramores ? I'm after two ricorumi colours that seem to be out of stock in the usual places

JPduck · 24/01/2021 17:28

@lazylinguist

Here you go JPDuck .
Thank you Smile
lucysmam · 24/01/2021 18:23

Wow, I'm impressed at the speed the CAL is coming together for all of you!

No crochet for me today; yet. We had a mantis emergency (it seems he was starving & we massively underestimated how many flies he will eat for a 1"long insect!). & then I learned my friend lost her mum earlier on :( I'm gutted for her.

I plan to finish the second ninja tonight so the friend he's intended for can collect from the doorstep tomorrow while she drops off her sister's birthday card & present.

CrochetBug · 24/01/2021 19:04

I can't believe quite how quickly the CAL came along. I've put it away until its time for part 2.

I've got plenty of WIPs to get on with. Includine one that I started this week despite promising myself I wouldn't start a new one Grin. Its amazing how thin the DK yarn feels after using Aran for the CAL!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 24/01/2021 19:36

Wow, the photos look fantastic! Keep them coming, I love seeing the different colour choices!

sophs29 · 24/01/2021 19:53

I've finished part 1 too! Honestly thought I was going to be so slow at it but my DS's have been very good this weekend and just let me crochet Grin also it's a great pattern! The lighting is rubbish in here, even with my "boob light" haha! so sorry about the awful photo! I'll have to take one in the daylight!

Also @Myshitisreal that wool is gorgeous!!

PlinkPlink · 24/01/2021 20:42

Ooh lovely knitting @scoobygang7

Are you more of a knitter than a crocheter?

How did you do the ribbing? I haven't had a look at doing that yet but can do the other stitches 😊

lucysmam · 24/01/2021 21:47

Just wondering, before I use the pattern I've found, has anyone made an amigurumi fly? & if so, what pattern did you use?

lazylinguist · 24/01/2021 21:51

Well, I'm still a bit behind! I've done the Granny Blocks and Grannies, but don't think I'll make it through a row of Lattice Stripe before bed, so I'll stop there. They're all looking great - well done so far, everyone!

Myshitisreal · 24/01/2021 21:57

I hope it's ok to post this but one of our wee cats has died abut half an hour ago. I made a blanket and bed for her, I think I posted pictures up. I've cried a while toilet roll today 😂. Plus I've accidentally bought more wool. Really need to stop stress buying. Determined to finish this boring scarf shawl for mum then it's my master mosaic blanket

Sorry
