I think it looks great, sophs! But yes, a border seems to hide a multitude of sins.

Here are my first two rows. Mine is looser than yours, sophs, but I wanted it a bit drapey, hence the 4.5mm hook choice.

TheMostHappy I love the colours, as lazy said the colours wouldn’t suit me but I would buy for someone else.

lazylinguist thank you for the mountain pictures 😍 I hope you have supplies to last you. I assume you have several feet of snow now as it’s just started snowing here! Quite a lot too! Glad DH went out earlier as they don’t grit our road and we can actually end up stranded with snow and ice.

CrochetBug · 23/01/2021 14:55

Rows 1-7. My camera likes to enhance all my photos so the colours look a lot brighter than they actually are. The dark grey looking colour (which is actually called "petrol") is DK. The rest is Aran, but it looks the same to me. I'm using a 5.5mm hook.

So are we doing all of part one this week? Or do I need to stop now ?

Oh I knew I'd be jealous of people's colours - that looks fabulous, CrochetBug! I think I'd said I'd try and do the first two sections of part one - i.e. the Granny Blocks and Grannies. Don't feel the need to hang back though!

Uff; one black horn has taken me many many attempts while waiting for a cake to cook & it's less than an inch tall!

Just giving my eyes a minute before I start the second then the crewmate

That's really lovely, bruffin! I just bought ddog a blanket and am now thinking I should have knitted him one! He's big though. And doesn't treat his blankets very kindly. Grin

The granny blocks and grannies are the same thing! They just renamed it so we think we are learning something new Hmm

InTheNightWeWillWish · 23/01/2021 15:43

I think I'd said I'd try and do the first two sections of part one is that today or this week? This is coming together surprisingly quickly, or it is so far anyway. Much quicker than my fingerless gloves that take 2-3 hours Hmm

Not as quick as crochetbug seems to be getting through it but quicker than I thought I would be getting through it Grin

Blush In my defence your honour, I have teens so they are pretty self sufficient and don't interrupt me. One of them hasn't even surfaced from his pit yet Hmm
lazylinguist · 23/01/2021 15:56

Yep me too (well, a teen and one who'll be a teen in April). I interrupt them more than they interrupt me. Grin I just dragged them out for a (short) walk!

is that today or this week?

Well I had thought this week. I'm pretty slow and also didn't want to rush toooo far ahead of any newbies. But we'll see - I think I may have underestimatedhow much I'llget done. I've only done rows 1&2, but I usually do most of my knitting and crochet in the evening, so I'll do more later (after Zoom games with the dc and my parents, followed by a takeaway curry!).

In my defence your honour, I have teens so they are pretty self sufficient and don't interrupt me. I don’t have kids, just two dogs who have been asleep all day! And I’ve done my family calls for the weekend this morning so I can just crochet to my heart’s content but still not as fast as crochetbug. There must be steam coming off your hook! I know this is actually the difference between a newbie and a more experienced crocheter but I’m just a little bit in awe.

tizwozliz · 23/01/2021 16:23

I found a head in my stash, no idea what it was the start of. Will have to look through my patterns to find out

@CrochetBug I was just doing a slip knot into the start of each row but am now doing it the way your doing! forgot all about that way until you said haha! looks much neater! I love your colours! I wish I had 14 different colours now!

@lazylinguist yours looks so nice!

@bruffin that cat blanket is gorgeous!

CrochetBug · 23/01/2021 16:43

I didn't realise I crocheted so fast! To be fair I either go at the speed of light, or do nothing.

Love the head @tizwozliz. I've got 2 arms and some ears in a box where I made a doll and decided about 5 rows from finishing it that the legs needed more stuffing. I couldn't get any in them without frogging it a bit. A bit turned into completely. Other than the arms which were made as separate pieces and added on. Grin
One day I will start it again!

CrochetBug · 23/01/2021 17:52

'Granny blocks' and 'grannies' finished. I'm feeling very virtuous because I've even sewn in all my ends Grin

Time to go and make curry. Probably should see if ds1 is awake and see what he wants for dinner too Hmm

sophs29 · 23/01/2021 18:22

Comes together quick doesn't it @CrochetBug I've sort of crocheted my ends in as I've gone with some of the rows but not sure I'm happy with the overall effect so may pull them out and properly sew them in!

My first 7 rows... that have taken all day Grin I think I’m probably done for the day now though.

Oh another nice colour combo @InTheNightWeWillWish very neat!

sophs29 · 23/01/2021 18:37

That's how mine looks @givemebooks but I'm just sort of winging it as I go Grin someone more experienced might be able to tell you for definite!

Scoobygang7 · 23/01/2021 18:38

Everyone's cals are looking great can't wait to see how they progress.

givemebooks · 23/01/2021 18:41
