@lucysmam

Grin sorry!

But very much appreciated Thanks

I'm sure the legs will confuse me too Hmm

Grin I'm easily confused and haven't made any amigurumi other than crewmates for a while so hard to remember how I usually increase them. What pattern have you used for them before? Mine start with the legs!

I love the colors of that @JPduck. Smile

lazylinguist · 21/01/2021 22:00

Hi JPduck! Love that blanket!

OP posts:
lucysmam · 21/01/2021 22:05

this one @CrochetBug. It starts from the top down, then 1 leg, then attach the other one.

I think I was wrong about offsetting the increases; it's looking hexagonal, so I'll frog it in the morning & re-do the last two rounds again.

Hello JPduck!

CrochetBug · 21/01/2021 22:13

Oh that leg thing is confusing! Probably less so if you are actually doing it. I'm not sure if the maths I did offsets the increases or not. I can't visualise things so have to physically do them before they make sense. I'm sure you'll work it out tomorrow though Grin

So sorry to all you ladies for holding everyone up I have a really difficult week with losing family member to covid and then few others have had to be hospitalised. It's just been crazy so I definitely need this cal it will keep me calm and give me something to focus on rather than all the negativity that's swimming around me right now.

MindyMalik · 21/01/2021 22:59

I have my yarn will be sticking to the original colours. Thank you for understanding I will be following the pattern on my tablet and working my way through it. Sorry again for not being on the thread for over a week.xoxo

CrochetBug · 21/01/2021 23:06

Sorry for your loss @MindyMalik. I hope the rest of your family recover quickly. Flowers

InTheNightWeWillWish · 21/01/2021 23:11

Mindy I’m sorry for your loss Flowers I hope your other family members are OK.

I’m glad you’re sticking with your original yarn colours. I think they’ll work really well. You’ve also not been holding us up, I think most of us have only just got our yarn a few days ago.

sophs29 · 22/01/2021 07:26

Sending hugs @MindyMalik Thanks

Runforwine · 22/01/2021 07:32

Lazylinguist I'm using UK.

lazylinguist · 22/01/2021 08:03

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, Mindy Flowers. Hope your other family members recover soon.

No worries about the CAL - tomorrow seemed to be a good start day for all of us anyway. Glad you're all sorted with yarn. I liked your colour combo.

Runsforwine - how are you getting on with the double crochet stitches now? Any progress?

@mindymalik

Runforwine · 22/01/2021 10:34

Lazylinguist I have managed two rows and am sadly very proudGrin. It's not pretty but I'm determined it will be! I've found it easier not to watch the videos whilst doing it.

lazylinguist · 22/01/2021 11:07

Yay - keep at it, Runforwine! Your hands will soon do it more automatically.

I remember being very proud of my first square trapezium.

sophs29 · 22/01/2021 11:32

Even now I always find the first few rows hard as there's nothing to hold onto iyswim!

Runforwine · 22/01/2021 11:46

Thanks, everyone for all the encouragement !Flowers

lazylinguist · 22/01/2021 11:56

Me too, sophs! It feels very unstable at first, in knitting too!

I managed to do abit more of my cowl last night. I was never going to finish it before the CAL, but I can carry on doing bits here and there as light relief - it's pretty mindless!

I know that once I get into the CAL I'm going to start ruminating on what KAL we might do! Any knitters got any ideas?

runforwine I have managed two rows and am sadly very proud

My first few attempts were granny squares. I was proud when I made it to the end of a round, not even the full square, if I’d made it there in less than 20 attempts! Every shell was shown to DH with a look said ‘there better be praise’. Poor DH, when I actually completed a square he got an excited hit in the arm and the look.

MindyMalik · 22/01/2021 12:30

Thank you everyone's kind words it's been a crazy week thank you for understanding.xoxox

So glad to be on this thread bit of relief and a distraction to read through what everyone's got planned with their projects.x

Myshitisreal · 22/01/2021 12:58

MINDY I find crafts a great way to get a bit lost, therapeutic if you like.

I wonder if anyone has thoughts to help me. I'm driving myself absolutely crazy picking wool. I'm making MYSELF a very special mosaic blanket. I'm spending a fair bit on materials as I need something to get lost in and i will keep it for years.

The choices of wool is where I'm unstuck .

I've made my decision but just realised that some of the "yarn" is Caron simply soft and some is caron cakes. Half is 100%acrylic, the other half is 80% acrylic 20% wool. I would only ever wash on a 30 degree machine wash.

Is it absolute Madness to combine the two types? I have OCD and I'm afraid I'm getting a bit lost for the woods and the trees 😂. I can't even explain how many hours I've spent looking at combinations then changing my mind.

Anyone any advice???

Oo i finished the cat bed. Wee sick kitty looks lost in it as she's very thin, but the chunky one will fill it out better. Ill pop a pic on browser.

Look forward to seeing the cal progress. Will you all share pics as you go along. I love seeing the colours people choose.

The amigurumi chat is fascinating. 🤯😳🤣

Myshitisreal · 22/01/2021 12:59

She was lying on it as I crocheted round her!

Hi everyone
Can I join please?

I've been knitting for a few years now. Many, many projects started and then abandoned 🤣

I can't crochet to save my life though!

@petridishmystery OMG!!! LOOK at your blankets 😍😍😍😍 they are incredible!! Loom knitting?! How do you do that? How long did it take you to reach that level?

CrochetBug · 22/01/2021 13:09

@Myshitisreal lovely cat! I think those yarns would work together, as long as they are the same weight (they are both aran iirc) then they should be fine. Acrylic and wool/acrylic mix don't feel that different imo.

Unlike one of the first things I made where I used some acrylic and some 100%cotton. It was ok, but you could definitely see and feel the difference Grin. It was so annoying I frogged an entire blanket and started making something else instead.

carolinesbaby · 22/01/2021 13:22

Lockdown blanket coming along nicely so far. 15 rows out of 90. Maybe I'll make myself a scarf like this one day?
