Hi all,
For a few weeks I've been knitting a blanket for my DP and I'd love to see what other people are knitting/crocheting at the moment!

Here's the latest picture of my blanket Smile

Hit enter too soon... I particularly love the giraffe :)

I've made a hare from a kit and also used it to decorate notebook covers.

P1nkP0ppy · 30/05/2016 15:31

I struggle with 'random' too Woolly, my brain seems to prefer definite orderly colours or shades of one colour.......
I must check out Ravelry, I signed up yonks ago but haven't been back.
Lots of talented crafters on here!

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 30/05/2016 15:32

I'm making scarves for my Paying It Forward challenge - I had a thread recently and got loads of pattern ideas from crafty MNetters. I will post a picture later. When they are done I have promised myself to learn crochet. Would you say it's harder to pick up than knitting?

FiveHoursSleep · 30/05/2016 15:33

SoupDragon
I think needle felting is very therapeutic. All that stabbing. Wink

SoupDragon · 30/05/2016 15:35

Less therapeutic when it's a finger...!

MyShinyThing · 30/05/2016 15:40

Can I share my baby blanket please! I'm ridiculously proud of it but no one in real life is interested! I started it in February & it needs to be finished by the end of June so I'm not sure I'm going to finish in time as I'm a bit slow. This is it folded over so it's actually a lot wider.

Love seeing everyone's projects, I love crafty stuff!

That is beautiful Shiny. I have been knitting for about 40 years and I still struggle with intarsia.

MyShinyThing · 30/05/2016 15:47

Thanks Woolly, I find I have to go really slowly otherwise I end up in a huge knot! It's about 200 stitches wide so a row takes about 20 minutes, more if it's purl.

FinnegansCake · 30/05/2016 16:17

That is gorgeous, Shiny , I'm very impressed! It looks very complicated, I would be in a real old mess with all those colour changes.

People who don't knit or crochet don't realise how much time and effort goes into making things.

So much lovely stuff on this thread!

My current wips are a knitted teddy bear (still awaiting stuffing), a crocheted owl I made last year but never stitched together, two crocheted cushion covers and three crocheted blankets ( one cot size, two double) but I have an urge to do some mandalas, a bag and a crocheted fine cotton bedspread.

I shall have to speak sternly to myself and resist the urge to start anything else until I've finished at least the bear and one of the blanketsWink

SoupDragon · 30/05/2016 16:30

Lovely blanket :)

MyShinyThing · 30/05/2016 17:24

Thank you, you should see the back it's a complete mess!

I've spent hours knitting things before only to have the ruined when I've given them as gifts. Now I've decided I mainly do it because I enjoy it so it doesn't matter what happens after I've handed it over.

I know what you mean Finnegan, I've got so many unfinished projects! I started a teddy bear when I was pregnant & it's still not finished! DS is 5. It only needs sewing up but that's the boring bit.

I've promised not to buy any more wool unless it's for something specific. My stash is huge!

Cineraria · 30/05/2016 18:27

What a great thread. I love looking at other people's projects as they progress. I am so impressed by the knitted colour work projects here; that's something I really can't seem to crack as keeping an even tension is not my strong point.

I need to start something new now DS sleeps in his cot in the evenings and I have a bit more time. I just finished making him a woollen soaker (nappy cover) for night times but am not sure what to start next.

TheFairyCaravan · 30/05/2016 18:37

I'm doing a granny square blanket for DS1's friend. They're soldiers and have rooms next to each other where DS1 has a blanket. His mate keeps asking DS1 to ask me to make him a blanket, even more so after he saw some of the ones we've got at home when DS1 was Snapchatting.

They're abroad for 3 months atm so I'm doing it as a surprise for him when he gets back. It was so hard choosing colours because I didn't want to do the traditional greens and khaki 'army' colours.

P1nkP0ppy · 30/05/2016 18:47

I've got WIPs too -
A number of granny squares waiting to be joined together for a cot blanket
Aran cardigan started yonks ago --it'll never be finished because I don't like the colour
Baby blanket started but I don't like the pattern (going to start again with the Cupcake blanket pattern I think)
A fishermans rib sweater that I started but have mislaid the pattern......

Must try harder methinks 😊 don't get me started on how big my yarn stash is

Dutchoma · 30/05/2016 20:56

MyShinyThing that blanket is amazing, no wonder it is taking you ages to do,
Fairy. what a lovely thing to do for your son's friend. I'm sure he will be delighted.
I am doing a pair of socks at the moment, I thought they would be much too big in one part and not big enough in another, but I have seen a friend with the same shoe size as the friend I am making it for and it is a perfect fit.

ConfuciousSayWhat · 31/05/2016 15:31

I'm doing a C2C project for the first time ever and I've fucked up on the decrease. Only noticed after 5 rows which are 45-50 blocks long each. Do I unpick or leave it as it is?

I won't be posting a photo as it's incredibly identifying what I'm making

SoupDragon · 31/05/2016 15:43

I love that soldiers are coveting home made crocheted blankets :)

SoupDragon · 31/05/2016 15:46

P1nkP0ppy you could finish the unloved Aran cardigan and send it to the Woolly Hugs refugee project if you don't like the colour and wouldnt use the frogged yarn.

WeDoNotSow · 31/05/2016 18:41

My new projects - a clutch bag (more like a purse tbh) and a blanket for my DD - the blanket will be diagonal stripes and two squares wider than it is now.

I've just learned to crochet last week - my local craft store does lessons for a fiver which includes cake! Now I think I'm addicted and have a pile of granny squares already after studying YouTube. I've been a knitter for years but find crochet better for a quick fix as I tend to get too absorbed in knitting projects.

CharCharGabor · 04/06/2016 11:26

I love looking at everybody's new projects, some gorgeous stuff on here Smile

I have just finished The Patchwork Heart's Moroccan Spice blanket. I've never made a blanket before and don't crochet very often but I had to have it!

I've just started Attic24's Granny Stripe, don't think I'll get it finished very quickly but I need to use up some yarn to justify buying more Grin
