Hi all,
For a few weeks I've been knitting a blanket for my DP and I'd love to see what other people are knitting/crocheting at the moment!

Here's the latest picture of my blanket Smile

Aw, thank you Error40
I'm envious of all the crochet on here, love all the blankets. I can do a chain and that's it.

SoupDragon · 07/04/2016 13:21

I'm always amazed at the knitting. I can pick up some needles and that's it :o

RedOnHerHedd · 07/04/2016 17:43

This is the last blanket I finished just over a week ago. It was for my nephew.

I'm working in a red and cream chevron blanket now for my oldest boy.

Hello crafters! How are everyone's projects going? As you can see, I'm not very far through mine, although I had to cast on 192 stitches at the start, so the first few rows were a long slog. It's starting to grow a bit more quickly now that I'm starting to shape it.

My first ever crochet project and I am 'hooked'! This is a baby blanket for a friend due in August or sept - we won't know the gender. Hope she likes it as it is a lot of work! About half way through now, will be 6 by 7. Any suggestions for the border?

I've just finished these hot water bottle covers. They are my first proper fair isle projects and I found them much easier than anticipated. I actually did the knitting a couple of months ago but left the final finishing bits until just before I see the friends I'm giving them to as I don't really like the sewing up bit. Have knitted a jumper in that time which now needs sewing up. So I've started a cardigan!

They are so clever bkg. I can only dream of knitting things with different colour yarns.

Arcadia, that is very impressive for a first go! Such lovely colours too.

Yours is looking great Error404. What length needles do you use for 192 stitches? I'm not very good at wielding long ones.

I'm in the middle of yet another scarf as final practice before undertaking the Weasley sweater.

How's your blanket going CarolAird?

HandbagCrazy · 30/04/2016 12:50

Wow some if these projects are lovely.

I've just popped back to show the blanket I finally finished yesterday. It's a baby blanket for my pregnant friend - like pp we don't know the gender.

Have yet another baby blanket to make now, in white, smokey grey and blue. I'm going to try a shell stitch I think.

I love all the gorgeous photos, so much beautiful work.

I've just finished this scarf in silk. I had a 100g of each colour (so 300g in total) and I have more than half of it left, so I'm thinking about what else I could make with it.

I'm currently making a shawl for myself in this pattern, using baby camel and silk from Coolree. It's so soft, so very soft. I keep stroking it. Grin

bkg3000 If you hate sewing up teach yourself to knit in the round. It is so much easier to only knit Fair Isle on the right side of the work, apart from not having to sew. Those hottie covers look lovely

Loupee · 01/05/2016 09:36

Some gorgeous things here, the unicorn is amazing! I want to make a toy I think.
I mainly knit, but have recently taught myself to crochet.
This is my first crochet project, but I made the starting chain faaaaar too long, think it is about the same width as a double duvet. But I love it!

Hello! Love these. I'm especially in awe of the Fairisle, which I've never managed to do, I just can't get the tension right. And the beautiful lace wrap - I have a few books on lace knitting but I've only managed some simple patterns in rather thicker wool so far. And the crochet, I simply cannot remember all the different stitches.

I'm making this for DD in light blue, I made it for her as a baby in cream & loved it so much I was determined to do another before she got too big, she's nearly 4 & the largest size on this is 6-7 years. The problems of having a tall child...

I'm also quickly doing the top right (cabled) hat on this. I realised that if you use aran instead of dk, & increase the knitted lengths as necessary, it makes a great, & quick, hat. The middle size in aran works for a primary aged kid's hat, & I've got one in the large size, it's fabulously warm in a real wool. I'm doing a cheaper one in yellow for DD to take to nursery/school (& no doubt drop in the mud...) I originally did the little one in DK & added ear flaps/ties as DD did not like hats as a baby! Grin

Dutchoma · 01/05/2016 21:14

Lego you need to learn to knit with a thread in each hand, then it is not so difficult to get the tension right. Google continental knitting

temporarilyjerry · 02/05/2016 20:16

Apollo I made a mitred square blanket like that one, but picked up stitches and knitted new square onto it as I hate sewing it up. I made it for fun but DD has commandeered it and named it "Mummy's Love," as in, "I'm wrapped in Mummy's Love."

I love your blanket too, Loupee. I'd love to make one but I can't crochet despite trying to learn for ages. Any tips?

BigApple11 · 02/05/2016 20:20

I love crochet too, always lovely to 'meet' others, I'm currently working on this , a blanket for my sister

Temporarilyjerry for me it was YouTube videos. I watched a few different ones, pausing, doing what they said then watching the next bit, pausing etc. It was the same way I taught myself to knit as well.

TotalPerspectiveVortex · 02/05/2016 21:52

Oh this is just the thread! I'm just on with the second of a pair of socks. I'd got to turning the heel & couldn't be bothered a while ago. I visited my grandma yesterday who was telling me about how I am the fifth generation of my mum's side who knits, so that gave me the motivation to get on with it!

Other WIPs on the needles are:
A hitchhiker scarf, although I now hate my choice of yarn,
A super chunky sweater, back piece only,
Adreambird shawl, that is a bit faffy for my state of mind at the moment
A gold shaw\wrap type thing of my own making that is taking forever to get anywhere.

Anyone willing to join a support group for finishing WIP's?!

temporarilyjerry · 04/05/2016 18:01

Which YouTube videos did you find best, Loupee?

makeitpink · 04/05/2016 18:05

Crotchet geniuses how do I do a popcorn stitch???? I am left handed and it always seems not quite right lol.

Arcadia · 04/05/2016 22:09

I learnt to crochet from bella coco you tube tutorials, really clear and easy to follow!

Arcadia · 04/05/2016 22:14

Try this makeitpink?
I am also a leftie - I can usually do mirror image now but there are some left handed tutorials on YouTube!

Loupee · 04/05/2016 23:08

Sorry temporarilyjerry I couldn't tell you. I tried a few different ones to find what I liked, and didn't necessarily go back to the same ones to learn new stitches or techniques.
The main thing I had to learn was how to hold the yarn the felt comfortable, it seemed so alien after being used to 2 sticks!

makeitpink · 05/05/2016 07:08

Oh thank you will give that a go later. X

TobleroneBoo · 05/05/2016 07:13

I am admiring from afar, I started to crochet just over a week ago following online videos so I am just practising for now. One day I hope to be good enough to make a dear little elephant I've seen, until then I'll stick with my "dishcloth" Confused

That, after just one week of teaching yourself, is amazing TobleroneBoo.
