Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

Derwent Inktense pencils are good.

Testarossa1 · 18/07/2015 20:15

These are Marco fine art drawing oil based pencils.

WanderWomble · 18/07/2015 20:35

I've just started to colour and found it helpful with my insomnia!

I'm finding I like crayons best, but need more colours. Really tempted by one of the 228 Crayola packs on Ebay.

Rainicorn · 18/07/2015 21:42

Gosh you lot are all so talented.

I started buying the colour therapy magazines but didn't think much of the pencils so cancelled it.

I was in WHSmiths today and happened upon the adult colouring books and though, why not. Bought secret garden and a pack of 30 fine liners (half price when purchased with book). Hopefully it'll relax me a bit during the long 7 weeks the DC are off.

Here is the start of my first one.

Looks lovely! I so want some fine liners. I'm doing a product test at the minute and my reward is a £12 amazon voucher, I'm spending it on colouring things :o

Rainicorn · 18/07/2015 22:28

Fine liners are the way to go. Especially for the small details on these books.

I haven't posted in so long, this thread disappeared from 'threads I'm on' :O but ONE more teaching day until the summer holidays, so I am excited about sitting in the garden with colouring and wine!

There are some beautiful things done with gel pens on here recently, I'm so impressed! This is my current (very slow) work in progress, I'm really just seeing what contrast and stuff I can get with the polychromos - I'm not sure I'd have the same choice of colours a second time around!

RevealTheHiddenBeach · 18/07/2015 23:39

ahem, and here's the picture!

I actually love that colour combination Reveal! Colouring in the garden with wine sounds perfect, shame it's 5 degrees here...

FeelingSmurfy · 19/07/2015 10:44

For the first time I have abandoned a picture Sad I think chicken pox does have something to do with that though, I'm fussing more. I am sure I will go back to it but for now I'm going to try another pic

OwlAtEase · 19/07/2015 11:11

I've abandoned heaps of pictures, Smurfy! Or I guess you could say, I have about 5 pictures on the go Wink. I really hope you feel better soon, chicken pox is awful.

Testarossa1 · 19/07/2015 13:50

New books and more gel pens to add to my collection!

Stunning Testa ??

WaggleBee · 20/07/2015 00:29

Get well soon Smurfy Flowers Don't think of it as abandoning, just call it a work in progress.

HellonHeels · 20/07/2015 12:55

Here's my first attempt, work in progress. Just got a lovely tin of 36 staedtler pencils. Did the figures and inner cicrle with a tiny set from muji, it's lovely having the new set to work with.

HellonHeels · 20/07/2015 13:36

Thanks! I'm loving seeing all the fab things everyone is doing.

Hello! May I join the team and ask a couple of questions (plus offer a free giveaway)?

I have recently taken up colouring in as a stress-busting activity and man, it has become completely addictive. I've been following this thread closely to see what pens and pencils you're all using and have made some (actually, far far far too many) purchases Grin

I'm working my way through the Secret Garden book, which I love, but to my horror have just realised that my two latest pen purchases, the Spectrum Noir markers and the Crayola Supertips, can't be used because they seep through to the other side of the page. Aaaargh. Has anyone else found this?

I love the Secret Garden and thought the paper was really thick and good quality, but I think possibly because it's a creamy colour and not pure white, this might mean that it isn't coated with anything that might stop the ink from going through to the next page. Or I might be making this up as I go along. Has anyone else had the same problem? I'm really cross as both sets of pens are fab otherwise as I was a bit bored with only using my Staedtler Fineliners.

Finally, I bought a copy of the Gorgeous Colouring Book for Grown-Ups on Amazon, but I don't think I really like it - I prefer the teeny-tiny intricate drawings in the Johanna Basford book and think I'll just buy another one of hers next. Would anyone like the Gorgeous Colouring Book? I'm more than happy to stick it in the post and send it free to a good home if someone can use it. PM me if you're interested and I'll stick it in the post next time I'm out.

Loving everyone's creations, by the way. I'm looking for inspiration as I seem to use the same sorts of colours over and over again and must try to branch out a bit.

lurkingfromhome · 20/07/2015 16:42

Gorgeous Colouring Book now claimed ...

Bearfrills · 20/07/2015 16:57

I have the Enchanted Forest book and bought some fineliners today, so far they're not seeping through the pages.

Practicing my "I've had these pens for years ... " face ready for DH getting home.
