Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 12/07/2015 17:06

Oooo nice haul there testa, I have the Secret garden (thanks dad!!) but am now lusting after the enchanted forest. Is it rather gorgeous?

Smurfy, that background is so pretty. Love the colour choice!

FeelingSmurfy · 12/07/2015 18:04

Thanks Eddie I just decided on the light blue and then thinking what other colours to do I thought that the blue kind of made sense as a sort of interpretation of sky, so I chose another blue and left part white to stick with the sky theme

This is my butterfly one.

Gel pens are usually smooth to colour with but they take ages to dry so are easy to smudge. But they have glitter, neon, metallic etc!

Ooo same pic eeyore I chose a similar green and a red for the bottom right butterfly, not done the other two yet. I decided to just do a straight pale skin type colour for the 3 butterfly bodies, I ignored the patterning on them

Oooo I like that testa. The pink one is my fav!

I did this using my daughters Copic markers. Lovely to use and easy to blend.

Just started my enchanted forest book, using gel pens and fine liners, barely any bleeding, just the tiniest tinest bit where the gel ink pooled a bit, but will be covered when I do the next page. but think this double spread wilI take me quite a while. I love the book though!

Testarossa1 · 13/07/2015 13:46

beebaw, what are the copics like to use? How do they blend? I see them around but never sure about them and how to blend pens, if that makes sense?

WaggleBee · 14/07/2015 01:32

Checking in because the thread slipped off my list. Smile

Testarossa1 · 14/07/2015 08:59

Where has everyone gone? seems a tad quiet round here! wonders if everyone else is busy colouring......

BlueEyeshadow · 14/07/2015 15:30

One side in pencil, the other in pen. I still prefer pencil although I like the vibrancy of the pen version. I've just discovered how much difference the paper makes though, as this was so much nicer and easier than using pens in a book with cheaper paper! Actually, pencils are harder work in that book too...

Eddie I find the copics blend well as long as you merge the second colour in before the first has dried. What I like is that you can cover big areas with no "brush strokes" showing, it's nice and even.

addictedtosugar · 14/07/2015 18:01

WOW Blue those are lovely. Which book are they in?

I've got some peacock feathers at the moment, and not inspired... Too much colouring required......

FeelingSmurfy · 14/07/2015 19:31

beebaw I see what you mean about brush strokes, that looks printed!!

Blue its nice to see the comparison

BlueEyeshadow · 14/07/2015 20:29

The picture smells like cherry too, the set of 50 crayola supertips comes with 12 scented pens

OwlAtEase · 15/07/2015 04:00

Blue that is so interesting, seeing a side by side comparison! I like both, but definitely think I have a preference for the pencils. Really lovely colouring on both pages, though.

Love your butterflies, Smurfy!

Testa I love Enchanted Forest too, I haven't done the one you're working on right now. Will be interested to see it finished!
