Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

That's why I want the expensive ones too, littlemonkey, I don't want to have to press too hard to get vibrant colours. That's another great pic, I'll show DD when she wakes up!

Degustibus that is lovely, is that done with pens or your polychromos? It's so vibrant I would've guessed pens, but I know you have a set of lovely expensive pencils so I'm not sure!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 29/06/2015 10:59

It's the Polychromous. They really are a joy to use! This has really inspired me to get back to drawing again.

Bearfrills · 29/06/2015 12:51

Love the pictures! Such beautiful colours, it's making me feel all warm :)

I've started a double page picture with loads of leaves.

"I want to bunk off work and colour in in the garden whilst drinking Pimms and watching tennis. Why is that not my life?"
I know! I don't rate this working malarky either ALovelyTrain, it interferes with my colouring in life.

"It's the Polychromous. They really are a joy to use! This has really inspired me to get back to drawing again."
Degustibus, wow, so vibrant I thought you'd used pens too! This thread's inspired me to go back to drawing too, and I'm using my colouring book to learn the techniques before I try my own work. What I love about the polychromos is that they put down pigment really easily and are easier to blend than my non-posh pencils. It's just a case of lightly going over and over the same place to build up colour isn't it.

Someone upthread mentioned a video tutorial on blemding with coloured pencils...I like and .

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 29/06/2015 15:41

I might try this www.amazon.co.uk/Zest-It-125ml-Pencil-Blend/dp/B003SXQCE4 quite a few people are saying it's good to use with the polychromos.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 29/06/2015 19:34

I'm tempted to try that as well Degustibus. Let us know how you get on?

Wagglebee · 29/06/2015 22:03

Alovely Which book are you doing? I like the look of that one.

I know what I'm watching on youtube tonight.

That's it, you've finally worn me down with all your lovely pictures. I have three colouring books on order, one tub of 45 colour felt tip markers in my possession and a 72 colour tin of Derwent pencils from years ago unearthed.
Pencil sharpener ready to go.

Absolutely can't wait.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 30/06/2015 08:23

Which books did you order Abby?

AbbyCadabra · 30/06/2015 09:13

Enchanted Forest, Secret Garden and Animal Kingdom. I couldn't decide on just one and I'm greedy. So excited!

OwlAtEase · 30/06/2015 11:26

Lovely pics Bear and Train!

Great book choices Abby! Remember not to use your markers in Secret Garden as they'll bleed through. They should be fine in Enchanted Forest though Smile

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 30/06/2015 11:36

I might will be heading off to the art shop at lunchtime to pick a few several extra colours of polychromos I would like need Grin

littlemonkey2013 · 30/06/2015 12:28

Oh, lovely little monkey! beautiful choice of colours

AbbyCadabra · 30/06/2015 14:48

Thanks Owl, I'll keep it in mind. I would mostly prefer to use pencils but I keep seeing a particular picture of an owl (!) that looks wonderful in bright colours, so I'd like to try the felt tips on that.

Wagglebee · 30/06/2015 16:21

ALovely Thank you Cake It's on my list now.

Abby and Owl I think they republished Secret Garden with much better paper so it might be ok with pens if it's a recent edition. See how it compares to the Enchanted one. I got the SG ages ago and the paper is very porous and a bit yellowy. The EF that I bought recently is lovely smooth, white paper. Both gorgeous though.

eeyoredebbie · 30/06/2015 18:57

Ooh new home for the thread. I offer wine and chocolates but you might prefer paper and pencils! Smile

Testarossa1 · 30/06/2015 19:27

Might be taking a tentative step into the world of colouring, just been given this little book for my birthday today, and ordered the staedtler fineliner pens, the 30 set. (Due to be delivered Friday) Pages of the book seem quite thick, so hoping the pens won't bleed.

Now wondering if I've just found a new hobby......

Testarossa1 · 30/06/2015 19:31

Oops! forgot the pic of the book, here it is
