Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

306 I like pencils because I like shading and blending the colours. I use Steadtler ergo soft ones (£15 ish from The Range or Tesco have them too) but also use Crayola and some very old WH Smith ones.

If anyone has a Kindle or the Kindle app, then this is free at the moment. Apparently there's a link at the end of the book for printing PDF versions. Might be worth a look Smile

Waggle I really do hope you're improving, how awful that you've been sick for so long. And Train, I hope you feel much better soon!

306 I have discovered I prefer pencils to fineliners because you can blend and shade to give the pictures depth, whereas the pens are more of a bold block of colour if that makes sense. You could buy a small pack of pens and pencils and try both. I'd recommend the Enchanted Forest book, which has thicker paper so the colours don't bleed through if you do use pens. And it has really lovely pictures Grin

Owl That's lovely of you, thank you. SmileCake

Hope everyone feels better soon too.

Here's my completed colour by numbers.

ALovelyTrain haha, yes it is rather dark! I'm thinking the other book will be jungle-themed, something with lots of foliage. Smile

Right! I got a distinction so I have ordered 36 polychromos. They arrive tomorrow :) excited!! loving seeing all the colourings - that stuff with brush pens is lovely! I don't yet have the confidence to be like that with different shades but I love the effects

Really lovely, japanese! It's so interesting to see a pencil/pen combination.

Reveal I am so excited for you!! And jealous! I keep trying to use my subtle mind manipulation to encourage DH that expensive pencils are a family necessity.

Meerka · 27/06/2015 10:47

have ordered that animorphia book, it looks weird and wonderful and strange :)

eeyoredebbie · 27/06/2015 13:44

There's only one colour by numbers in each Art Therapy mag so I don't mind so much, once I've chosen the colours I can relax and get on with it. I have another five or six pics in each mag to do my own thing with, and I do find that hard sometimes, just did this quick one with Sharpies but not too sure I like it

I don't always go with the advised colours tho!

I'm not really feeling colouring this weekend gonna chill for a bit with the telly

Promarker pens are great for blending. And I photocopy my pages so don't actually work into my books-I get to do them over and over again!

Tweezertastic · 27/06/2015 14:03

I've spotted a few in the John Lewis clearance sale should anyone want any

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 27/06/2015 18:58

Oh my word, the polychromos pencils are so so rich in colour Grin. But.....I want more colours!

feckitall · 27/06/2015 21:00

I went to 'The Range' today..they have them too..lots of people were looking at them! Grin
I haven't RTWT...what are reasonable beginners pencils?
