Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

golly that's nice shoop

crapbag, I'm sure there's been a sudden surge in the purchase of colouring books and pencils/pens ...

Some lovely pictures going up everyone. I particularly like the idea of mixing media. We'll be whipping out the paintbrushes before long!

I've really struggled to find time over the last few days. But the house is tidy (relatively) and my washing is on so hopefully I'll have time when DS naps Smile.

Meerka · 22/06/2015 10:47

I tried some paints already! acrylics. Did not work well somehow with the Art Therapy book, but maybe others will have more luck.

MrsMcGregor · 22/06/2015 13:41

Shoop, that's absolutely lovely. The colours are stunning! So many gorgeous pictures being posted. I wouldn't have thought of mixing markers with pencils but clearly it works! I still haven't opened my fineliners. Am enjoying the pencils and the different effects and suppose that fineliners are going to lack the versatility that the pencils have.

Anyway, I've had little time to colour, and this week is shaping up to be even busier than last! Finally finished Mr Fox. Can see far too many white bits on the photo!

Sainsburys have got loads of adult colouring books in for £3-£5 so I picked up a copy of Enchanted Forest for £4.99 and a pack of watercolour pencils reduced to £2.

I'm now hooked.

I've had to hide it all because DD (3yo) wants to help me by sharening all the pencils over and over and DS1 (5yo) keeps calling it 'our' colouring book. Fobbed DD off with a cheap drawing pencil that she's spent the afternoon sharpening into a stub and have promised DS he can have a book of his own tomorrow.

DH has sat watching me colour and has decided he wants one too. We're going to WH Smiths after school tomorrow and I'm allowed some more expensive pencils too Grin

My mountains are a bit rubbish but I'm pleased with the rocks around the rabbit warren and the raspberries.

oy those aren't rubbish! They remind me of the Lonely Mountain in the map at the front of the Hobbit :)

CrapBag · 22/06/2015 22:30

Think i'll take a trip to Sainsburys. I would like some new books. I have some adult colouring books from years ago, I used to be really into it before it was on to admit it Grin.

Bearfrills · 23/06/2015 09:24

They do look a bit Hobbity, don't they? :)

Just got the border left to colour now.

I'm not allowed any ore books, I have four!

OwlAtEase · 23/06/2015 13:06

Lovely colouring everyone! I'm enjoying seeing your flower progress, binary. Those colours are gorgeous, Shoop and Mrs. And that's very hobbity, Bear! I love how your whole family are getting into it.

This is my first pencil effort (I found some old ones in a drawer - DH heard me saying pitifully 'why must bad pencils happen to good people'). Anyway, I think I do prefer them to the fineliners!

Don't compare to others U2 just enjoy your own art cheesy

I'm currently working on a colour by numbers think it will take a couple of days

00100001 · 24/06/2015 07:59

I only just realised with the fox picture that MrsM shoop and U2 have done, that he's curled up with his tail around him...!

AgathaChristie01 · 24/06/2015 14:56

So excited! I have to go and collect my Amazon package, woo hoo.

Fantastic work, everyone. Mine is nowhere near that standard, but am really enjoying it. It switches off my poor head, when it's going into overdrive, worrying about things.

Bearfrills · 24/06/2015 17:02

U2, Owl, your pictures are wonderful, I love the colours. Especially love blinged up frog :o

Bought a copy of Dream Cities today...

Wagglebee · 24/06/2015 18:53

It switches off my poor head, when it's going into overdrive, worrying about things.

Yy, think that's why I started doing it at first. Much better on the worrying front these days but it's still excellent for relaxing.

I haven't done any for a while. Been too poorly but hopefully the next few days will be better so it's top of my list.

Gorgeous pics as always. Smile

Hi all

I bought a colouring book and pencils before it was popular and never really did anything with them.

I know there's much talk already about fine liners or pencils etc but does anyone care to share what they'd recommend?? I'm confused!

Meerka · 24/06/2015 20:03

Basically .... Just colour! :) colour in and experiment as much as you like.

A few people on this thread have found the normal-price Faber Castell pencils good (12.50 for 48 I think) and the stabilo fineliners good. Mind you someone got great results from the left-in-the-lost-luggage pencils they nabbed :D

www.amazon.co.uk/Faber-Castell-120148-Environmentally-Friendly-Colouring-Sharpener/dp/B0087OT3FY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435172471&sr=8-1&keywords=faber+castell

the pencils can go heavier/darker or lighter as you like.

pens can leak through onto the next page unless the book is very good quality.

Ah no I've been ill for months. I think that I'm improving slowly. So maybe colouring actually makes you better. Wink I hope you feel better very soon. Once your strength is back it's a good way to make sure you're getting some recovery time and rest. Meantime you can browse Amazon and order lots of a new book, what with it being therapeutic and everything.
