Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

Oh that's lovely Shoop! I started colouring him yesterday evening but have gone for muted oranges, greens, browns, red and yellow ... trying to make him look autumnal. Seeing yours so lovely and bright has me questioning my colour choices! Grin

LovelyTrain, do you shade in the one direction? Maybe I'm doing this all wrong! Am going back and forth or teeny circles. Feel like I'm back in Reception!

Thanks everyone! I wish I'd chosen one "theme" like autumnal colours Mrs Mc. But I just got overly excited wanting to try out all the colours of the pencils. They're lovely to use - I'd really recommend them.

DH asked if I was going to share my book and pencils with almost 4 year old DD......erm no!!

I need to watch the video on shading - definitely want to improve.

Think I might tackle the giraffes tonight, but then again the Secret Garden book is calling to me too!

Sallystyle · 17/06/2015 08:02

I take it you have the same pencils as me shoop? the faber polychromos

If so aren't they just wonderful and so vibrant?

I used a lighter touch with mine above but wow they pop when you go over it a bit more.

seoda24 · 17/06/2015 08:28

How many pencils are in the faber polychromos? They sound great.

Sallystyle · 17/06/2015 11:31

You get 24, 36, 60, and 120.

AgathaChristie01 · 17/06/2015 11:37

Just placed an order on Amazon for the Animal Kingdom book and the polychromos. Should really hide this thread Grin!

seoda24 · 17/06/2015 12:06

And off I go to order pencils Star

ShoopShoop · 17/06/2015 12:22

I do indeed U2 - fab aren't they! I'm wondering about getting the set of 60, but wondering how many colours are repeated from the smaller set? Did you start with a smaller set and then size up?

I was pressing quite hard last night with them just to test them out, but perhaps I should go a bit easier on them.....

zeldapinwheel · 17/06/2015 14:17

Hi,been lurking for a while, the pictures posted look great.

I've bought a few books, I'm just working on improving my pencil collection. I have a few polychronos that I bought individually from hobby craft. I'm currently trying to convince DH that it would be cheaper just to buy a set of the 120.

I've also been using a set of wh smith pencils and really like them, more so than the more expensive derwent inktense pencils I was given.

I managed to get some of the colour therapy books in hard back at half price from costco. I like the hard back ones, it means I can sit in the park with DS and his cars and colour away.

Will post a pic or 2

zeldapinwheel · 17/06/2015 14:28

This was done with the wh smith pencils still a WIP

Love the colours too zelda

Nap time a couple of days ago well spent! I'm fed up of fineliners now though, you lot have made me want crayons. I'm hoping they're waiting on my doorstep for me when I get home from work. Will just have to hide them from the resident two year old.

I love this thread. CakeSmile

(I also love your bee mug plonky)

Gorgeous pics again. I might get round to putting mine up eventually. Keep forgetting to take a pic.

Sallystyle · 17/06/2015 19:34

I started with the 24 then got the 120.

I think a lot of the colours in the 120 are very similar. For some of the reds it is hard to tell the difference. The lovely variety of greens are great and pinks.

I found 24 quite limiting as I got bored of the same colours.

The 120 has the copper, silver and gold which I love. The silver is quite sparkly!

If you move up to 60 you might get the odd repeat of colour but use them as spares when the others run out. I am pretty sure their website gives you a list colours for each tin.

My polychromos arrived yesterday which was really quick; I only ordered them on Sunday night! And they were a really good price, cheapest I found online.

Just checked and they're out of stock now unfortunately, so maybe this thread has caused a bit of extra interest Wink

oooh I hope they've restocked by 1st July! :D

some lovely pics!

eeyoredebbie · 17/06/2015 22:08

This is my latest pic, I've called it "show your true colours".

It was done with the staedler fibre tip pens which I can highly recommend. Also recommend their fine liners.

I have some pencils from WH Smith and The a Works but I seem to be using pens a lot recently.

seoda24 · 17/06/2015 22:39

That's really nice.I have been using the same pens with some nice results. Its hard to shade with the marker so I think I will invest in the pencils mentioned above some time.
