Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

Hi OP,

We've had a few requests for this lovely thread to be moved over to our Arts & Crafts topic.

Just give us a nudge when you're ready for it to be moved out of Chat. Smile

I don't use a blender though.

might look into getting one :)

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 14/06/2015 17:41

"g'wan g'wan g'wan g'wan!"
Right, I've done it! Bought a set of polychromos Grin. I'm using some other colouring pencils at the moment (along with my felt tips) but the leads are a bit too hard so not that nice to use. I reckon I can justify the expense. Anyway, they're so gorgeous that even if they're never used I could frame them Wink

precibus · 14/06/2015 17:43

Waggle I've had it for a while! DD slowly but surely working her way through hers. Have pre-ordered the third Johanna Basford book (it's coming out in October) and trawling Amazon for my next one

Stropzilla · 14/06/2015 17:48

I love mine, it's so relaxing. I have some polychromos too and I'm actually learning to draw and shade properly too! It's turning into a real hobby which is lovey. DD is enjoying being more arty as well, and DH is even having a go!

m0gz · 14/06/2015 18:02

I'm currently filling my amazon basket for dd me they have some Faber castell pencils (36) for £4 as an add on item - are these OK for us to start with? Dd is going to be 10 soon and loves drawing and buying stationery so I thought some of these books would be good for us to do together Grin

Could anyone suggest some fine tip pens or should we stick with pencils to start with?

00100001 · 14/06/2015 18:11

Faber-Castell are a good brand :) And for £4, can't go wrong!!

m0gz · 14/06/2015 18:17

Thanks :) I've got an art therapy book in my basket but I've just seen a tattoo one I want. Would it be wrong to just print dd some minecraft sheets to colour in while I pinch the nice pencils to work on the tattoo book Grin

precibus · 14/06/2015 18:19

m0gz I'm using Staedtler fineliners, but pencils are fine too (can't blend/shade with the fineliners)

elfycat · 14/06/2015 18:26

I bought ' The Can't Sleep Colouring Book' last week. My DDs (4.5 and 6yo) demanded that I photocopy a colouring page for them, so the next day I bought another 2 copies (£5 at The Works).

We're doing the same page, and using a new set of pencils, also from The Works. It seems only fair that we're on the same playing-field. I have plans to but more expensive pencils later and I'm not sure if I'd share Wink

00100001 · 14/06/2015 18:27

elfy just sneakily replace them and insist they're the same ones when they ask! :P

elfycat · 14/06/2015 18:29

Grin Wink

Meerka · 14/06/2015 19:32

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks YAY! do report on how they are, they sound lovely and the photos on here show they look lovely too. I can't wait til end of june for two reasons now :D

m0gz I have some Stabilo pens, they have fine points and you can also use them at an angle so you can get a wider line too. Absolutely love them.

My very old indeed Derwent pencils are gorgeous but really quite pale indeed. Don't know if 30 year old pencils go off a bit.

TheTravellingLemon · 14/06/2015 19:32

Gerald is complete! I have done nothing else for the last hour and a half!

Gerald is a work of art! Are you sure you're not an artist irl?

Is everyone happy to stay in Chat for a while and then move before the 90 days is up or when the thread looks to be filling up?

TheTravellingLemon · 14/06/2015 20:42

Thanks MrsMcGregor Blush. Definitely not an artist, but I am finding this really enjoyable.

I think we should leave it in chat for a while so we can recruit lots of new colourers to the thread Smile

00100001 · 14/06/2015 20:46

It should stay in chat for a while (imo) so we can catch other would be colourerer inners :)

Sallystyle · 14/06/2015 21:10

My son just ordered me Doodle Invasion for my birthday next week as I am in love with Lemon's colouring.

I now have my 12 year old colouring beside me.

I have a blender but using a white crayon works much better imo. It gives the exact same effect.

Lemon, my son who is a very talented artist thinks your colouring is amazing. He told me to tell you he is very impressed and has really enjoyed looking at them.

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 21:35

U2 A wax crayon or pencil crayon to blend with?

TheTravellingLemon · 14/06/2015 21:43

Thank you U2 and U2's DS Smile, I'm glad you like them. My DH thinks I'm weird.

I think you will really enjoy the book. There are a couple of pictures that I think would look better in pen so I'm going to come back to them when I've ordered some of those fine liners Wink
