Adult colouring in books

Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

I'm loving these... DD bought both Johanna Basford books for herself but very kindly donated one to me. I've finished Enchanted Forest and waiting for Secret Garden, but what other colouring books might I like? Looked at one with mandalas but it really doesn't spark my creativity in the way the Johanna Basford books do

This video shows what I do

Start at about 1.30 as she begins with stamps :)

TheTravellingLemon · 14/06/2015 10:55

some of these look good

AndNowItsSeven · 14/06/2015 11:01

Don't know if it's been said but lovely books £5.99 in morrisons .

ShoopShoop · 14/06/2015 11:03

I've so enjoyed reading this thread - and looking at your amazing pictures. I've just treated myself to Animal Kingdom, Secret Garden and 36 of the polychromos pencils Blush Very indulgent but I've been wanting to try this for ages now and the thread has given me the push I needed! Can't wait for Tuesday for everything to be delivered!

precibus · 14/06/2015 11:15

Thank you lemon

LtheWife · 14/06/2015 11:21

For those of you investing in lovely expensive pencils, spend another £3 on a long point pencil sharpener. It's a two step sharpener, you first shape the wood (and end up with a scary looking, super long, blunt lead), then use the second part to shape the lead to the most amazing fine point that's perfect for intricate work. It apparently does triangular pencils too for those who have them.

Sallystyle · 14/06/2015 11:39

Ohh looks good Wife Thank you.

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 12:59

I've finished Enchanted Forest-Precibus

Shock When I get over the shock I'll be really impressed. I was thinking it'll last me months before it's totally finished.

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 13:04

Phwoar! That Cult Pens site is stationary porn heaven. Grin

Meerka · 14/06/2015 13:28

Thanks wife, that's on the post-Dry June list too now =)

Sallystyle · 14/06/2015 13:46

Is not going to browse that website.

I need a dry July, August and September at this point.

Meerka · 14/06/2015 14:04

I don't want this thread to disappear!

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 14:14

We could ask for it to be moved somewhere? Although then people who colour by themselves but haven't realised it's a 'thing', or those who would look just out of interest, wouldn't see it. But it would stop the thread vanishing after 90 days.

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 14:14

I haven't drank for years. Does that mean I can buy all the pencils? Grin

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 14:18

MrsM sorry, should've addressed that post to you as it's your thread. Cake

00100001 · 14/06/2015 14:31

We could get it moved to arts and crafts. I'll ask :)

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 14/06/2015 14:43

"Its from WWW.wildergorn.com its part of a HUGE 40" x 27" print from the 70s."
Thanks 00100001 those posters are great! Smile

"Bad photo but you get the idea!"
Oooh yes, yes I do [sighs longingly]. We could do with a salivating emoticon on MN.
This thread is wonderful but dangerous...I am so close to buying a big set of those Faber Castell Polychromos because I'm already frustrated with not being able to shade with my felt tips. You lot have 15 minutes to talk me down Wink

"I haven't drank for years. Does that mean I can buy all the pencils?"
Yes it does. HTH. Grin

MrsMcGregor · 14/06/2015 14:50

I don't mind if it's moved but wonder whether we should keep it on Chat for a while yet? It's only a couple of weeks old and more people are joining every day or two and they mightn't stumble across us in Arts & Crafts.

Waggle, you're finished it? Wow! I've only done two pictures. Need to go and bake now but would much rather colour grrrr.

Go on Waggle, buy them!

Cult Pens is, indeed, dangerous! I have spent a small fortune there over the last few years! Love that website.

MrsM Nooo I haven't finished, I've only done half of one page! It's Precibus who has finished the whole book. In my shock I didn't word it very well.
I can't do nearly as much as I'd like as my hands get sore if I do too much. Plan to do some later today though.

Yy I think the thread should stay in chat until it's in danger of being vanished. I felt like it'd been going longer than 2 weeks so there's plenty of time yet. Be good to keep it eventually though.

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 15:29

Should add I have done a few pages of the Secret Garden book before this thread. I'm enjoying the Enchanted Forest more. The paper is better and there aren't quite so many leaves. Plus, it has unicorns!

Meerka · 14/06/2015 15:44

whataload ..

  • will you use the polychromos pencils?
  • can you afford them without going short of really important stuff?
  • will you enjoy using them?

g'wan g'wan g'wan g'wan! :D

Wagglebee · 14/06/2015 15:53

Yes it does. HTH. Grin Just seen this Whataload thank you.

I don't think anyone is going to talk you down on here, we'll just encourage you which you know deep down. So that means you really want them.
