Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

Oh my word they are amazing!!!

Finally got pictures to work so I could see everyone's creations (and oggle at the pencils) - I am in awe! Especially the jar! I am working on an octopus at the moment, but he seems a bit of a grump...

Sallystyle · 13/06/2015 14:11

There is even a sparky looking gold one!

A lot of the colours seem pretty similar but different enough for shading purposes.

The bright colours look much brighter irl. Lots of lovely bright pinks and purples. I actually don't think I want to use them. I might just look at them.

OwlAtEase · 13/06/2015 14:15

Ooooh!

I want them.

Do you have to press really hard to get the nice vibrant colour, like with your red leaf, U2?

Meerka · 13/06/2015 14:30

Oh my god U2. wonderful! Tell us what they're like in actual use!

which sort were they again? Faber or the polychromos? (or are they the same Confused )

Sat at a table :)

MrsMcGregor · 13/06/2015 17:07

Wow U2, you've really caught the bug!

I'm finishing off my butterfly picture. Getting bored with this particular piece now. Haven't tried the fineliners yet. Sadly will have to stop soon unless DH comes and offers to cook dinner!

I've just got the tin of 36 Polychromos from Amazon, not bad at £39 as they are about £2 a pencil in the Graphic Centre. I spent about £100 on pens last month as well, oops!

RevealTheHiddenBeach · 13/06/2015 17:39

Binary that looks brilliant! What is the paper like?

I have just finished my octopus so here he is. I've called him Steve.

binary that looks like it's screaming out for bright pens.

I just had a look in hobby craft buy didn't feel particularly inspired by any of the books there.

Reveal Steve is fabulous. I think I need to name my snail. Gerald maybe.

MrsMcGregor · 13/06/2015 17:55

Sallystyle · 13/06/2015 18:14

Awesome colouring!

Wagglebee · 13/06/2015 19:13

Oh! 00100001 is Binary. Blush Obviously I noticed that...

Like the lead shading tip. Mines coming along very slowly. Hands too achy to do more than 20 mins a day.

Mentioned the colouring to a couple of people and discovered they're secret colourers too. They even have the same book as me. I bet everyone's at it on the sly.

Wagglebee · 13/06/2015 19:13

Wagglebee · 13/06/2015 19:17

Love Steve the Octopus and MrsM's butterfly patch. Top shading. StarSmile

00100001 · 13/06/2015 19:30

reveal cool Octopus :) The paper is pretty thick stock, almost like card actually! The drawings are double sided, so will see how pen goes... (I have Staedler FineLiners)
