Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

They are lovely Cant

Mine really really don't put anyone's to shame Grin

You haven't even gone over the lines!

Wagglebee · 11/06/2015 21:11

MrsM I used a normal sharpener on the Steadtler pencils and it works fine. They're going down quite quickly though. It's all the tiny detailing using them up. I've got those and some old Crayola ones that are really nice too but the lead snaps on those.

Wagglebee · 11/06/2015 21:18

Caught up with the pics. They're all so beautiful! Love the giraffes.

I want to know what the witches pic is all about too. It's a bit Pratchett isn't it?

I sat down to do "one wing" and two hours an hour later I'd done two dragons and a Phoenix. Blush

LadyBaelish · 11/06/2015 22:03

LOVE the giraffes!

I've almost finished the butterflies and flowers. The small purple ones are actually a mix of pink and purple although it's hard to tell in a photo.

I did a bit of internetting in the wizard ones.

They were originally drawn in the 70s by a guy called Jamie Courtiere who is from London and used to work with/for Jim Henson

LadyB and ALovely Gorgeous colours, I like the orange frame.

Know what you mean though. I picked the wrong colours for a bit of mine earlier, now it's all I focus on when I look at it. Wish you could rub colours out. Annoying.

We should probably start selling these Wink

TheTravellingLemon · 12/06/2015 10:49

I'm not so keen on this one. I didn't really know how to tackle the jar. Do you think I should just do the whole thing blue?

oooh, tricky one... it needs something, doesn't it? But the shading of the glass is really good in the top corner... it's trying to get the reflective nature of the glass done...

maybe go for a REALLY light blue and see?

TheTravellingLemon · 12/06/2015 11:04

Maybe I'll add a bit more blue and see what happens Smile

I've just had a little spending spree on Amazon to the tune of 50 quid because of this thread. Blush

I had to invest in my pens and pencils as well though, and bought about 4 or 5 books too. I'm going to have a lovely relaxing holiday this summer. Grin

I'm so excited to find all of you here!

I've just started using the Staedtler fineliner pens and I've found they don't bleed too badly in Enchanted Forest (as long as you're not pressing really hard). Apparently the author used different paper this time around, as the pens do bleed in Secret Garden.

I've been looking for some lovely vibrant pencils because my Derwent Artist ones are way too soft and smudgy. Your pencils look amazing, U2!

TheTravellingLemon · 12/06/2015 12:58

Right, I have added some more blue. I've not particularly enjoyed this one to be honest. I'm doing a snail next. Looking forward to that oneSmile

Definitely an expensive thread! I'm already bored of this book and want to get a new one.

Oh my word! just dropped into our local (mahoosive) art shop at lunchtime and tried the polychromos pencils - they are truly amazing, but dear god the price! Grin

My husband just ordered the 120 Faber Castell set for me!

I love the 24 I have so can;t wait for tomorrow to get them all.

Bless him, I got a job interview on my birthday so he said I might as well have them tomorrow Grin

I wonder how differently this thread would have gone if it was started in AIBU Grin.

00100001 I love that picture. I may have missed it upthread but is it from a colouring book or printed online?

00100001 · 12/06/2015 19:08

Its from WWW.wildergorn.com its part of a HUGE 40" x 27" print from the 70s.

You can order it for about £22 with p&p. I just downloaded some parts of it :)
