Am going to order the Animal Magic book from Amazon. It looks like it would be nicer to do with markers for brighter colours. These are recommended in the Amazon reviews. Are they worth it?

Thanks!

we're awestruck! :)

I really like the darker shading on the yellow/gold in particular, the way it makes it look like the vase is rounded.

00100001 · 10/06/2015 21:10

Your vase is good.

Oencikd are far better, for layering colours, shading etc :)

Wagglebee · 11/06/2015 03:22

The gold dazzled me and I couldn't see to post. Grin

I bought some Steadtler ergo soft pencils. Set of 24 in a plastic case that you can use as a stand. Pretty impressed so far. They're hard enough not to go blunt quickly but soft enough to deposit lots of colour and for blending. I really like them.

Just started a new pic in the Enchanted Forest book. Might be brave and post a pic when it's done but might take a while. Love the book. It's got a Narnia crossed with Enid Blyton's Enchanted Wood vibe to it. Smile

I haven't got near mine for the last two days but I do love the photos being posted. They're all fab!

Waggle, those are the pencils I got. They're getting blunt now and I'm awaiting arrival of a triangular sharpener! I really like them but would like more colours!

I'm doing the bottom half of my poster - turning out nicely - waiting for some good pencils to arrive though.

00100001 · 11/06/2015 15:24

got much more muted tone - and lots more layering/blending going on that previous one.

I particularly like the way my brown wizard's hat has turned out, the one by the cauldron (hard to see on the photo, so you'll have to take my word that it's awesome ;P)

MrsMcGregor · 11/06/2015 15:31

Grin it is prett awesome 001! The shading is fabulous. What pencils are you using now and what are you waiting on? You've got a real 3D effect on your wizards!

Looks fantastic binary. I like the more muted colours and the hat is great.

I typed out a whole post yesterday, but it doesn't seem to have posted.

Great vase alovelytrain. Pencils are such more fun aren't they?

The staedtler pencils are excellent and they sharpen really well too. Plus that little white band is genius. They really don't break!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 11/06/2015 15:57

oooh, Envy at those with the polychromos pencils! I've been eyeing these colouring in books for ages!

00100001 · 11/06/2015 16:01

00100001 · 11/06/2015 17:01

If anyone is interested, they're part of the Wildergorn series

TheTravellingLemon · 11/06/2015 17:34

I love them. Do you just print them.off or do you buy them?

00100001 · 11/06/2015 17:36

I printed them off - I didn't realise they were part of a larger print until I did a bit of internetting on them.

Not sure I'd want a 40"x 27" print :/

Sallystyle · 11/06/2015 18:02

I think it's bloody impossible for me not to go over the lines in these tiny bits! No matter how hard I try I can't so it.

oooh i like your blending :)

cantpolishaturd · 11/06/2015 18:18

Inspired by this thread I bought the animal kingdom book (which I've secretly wanted for ages)...wish I could afford the dearer pencils so I'm working with steadtler and crayola pencils and as daft as it sounds I find the cheaper crayola pencils give a better, deeper colour. Just starting to give shading a go.

Here are a few of my efforts
