Team Hooker, now with added pictures :)

Whilst on holiday recently, I finished a hat and started a blanket. The blanket will have at least 200 4" squares in the end so I have a little way to go!

I do like frogs! Smile

Grin frog purse not practical at all though. I thought it would make a good holder for something like cotton wool balls

ineedsomeinspiration · 07/11/2014 19:28

My ever attempt at a pattern, not perfect but it does look slightly like a baby guinea pig.

Dead cute. Once this blankie is done I'm making that frog purse! Gorgeous.

Lovely things Smile.

I've just finished my stripy wreath base. Ready to begin foliage crochet now - exciting! Grin

I've been busy over the weekend making Christmas presents - I'm particularly pleased with the gruffalo hat!

Those hats are fab.

I am making a c2c blanket for DS at the moment. Just need the wool deliery so I can finish it!

ilovetosleep · 17/11/2014 18:49

WOW where did you find the gruffalo pattern?I'm new to crochet (a knitter) - was it difficult? I love it!

Umlauf · 17/11/2014 20:25

Smile ilovetosleep I made it up! I'm new to crochet too (a of September) so must be very easy. Am going to write up pattern for my blog after Xmas (it's an Xmas present and don't want to ruin surprise) thank you!!!

Givemecaffeine21 · 19/11/2014 13:58

My reindeer - very pleased with him as I adapted a pattern from another animal and made quite a bit of it up...

Ah he is lovely! What size hook do you use for toys? I'm so new to this and only have a 2.5, a 4.5 and a 5.. My 4.5 is the only decent one and the others make my hands hurt, but the stuffing shows through on any amigurumi I try in 4.5.. Sad

I need to make a snake to finish my gruffalo series off for DS for Christmas. (have bought the mouse, fox and owl from IKEA but they don't have a snake and I'm too cheap to buy the 'proper' one!)

Givemecaffeine21 · 20/11/2014 11:07

umlauf I find a 3.50 hook is best for toys as it keeps the stitches tight. I love your Gruffalo! For someone new to it, you have serious talent!

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 11:53

I would size down by 0.5mm for toys so for DK yarn which uses a 4mm, I"d go with 3.5. It makes a surprising amount of difference.

Thank you! I'm so clueless I don't even know what yarn I have. I get it from the local Chinese shop (am abroad) and it's all in Chinese but also completely varies in thickness! More hooks on my Christmas list and might stock up on some proper yarn when in the uk... Hmm what to do about the snake though...! Thanks!! X

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 13:46

You can tell what yarn thickness it is by wrapping it round a ruler and counting how many wraps to make up an inch. I'm not sure of the details but I am sure google is your friend!

Oooooh good tip owl! That's a bit like when you wrap a skirt around your neck to see if it will fit your waist if you're in a market or similar. I used it at Camden market and it worked.

ineedsomeinspiration · 20/11/2014 19:52

My second project,MIT gets addictive.
