Team Hooker, now with added pictures :)

Whilst on holiday recently, I finished a hat and started a blanket. The blanket will have at least 200 4" squares in the end so I have a little way to go!

Hi all! Some amazing things on here! Truly beautiful. I'm going to teach myself amigurami at some point this year it's so lovely.
At he moment I have a looooong list of wips, but I like having the choice of project and pattern/colours. Blush
Ok, so....
An interlocking rainbow ripple for dd
A coastal pack ripple blanket (as requested) for ds1 although I am doing big stripes so it's a colour block type of affair because using someone else's colours in their order makes me want to rebel Wink
A solid granny square blanket (elmer squares) in blues, turquoises, lime and red. Unfortunately I used so yarn from different brands so some are working up bigger than others. Sad I'm not sure what to do about that...
A cosy stripe king size blanket in cottage colours (yes I know but it was easier for me to tell the kids to get two of those as my Xmas 'surprise' than lots if wool in colours I chose.... (But it is lovely)
I have made a magic ball of yarn ready to join in with a C2C CAL on ravelry. But I'm a bit nervous about that working out now!
Am considering the moogly CAL as well. But as with the C2C one I'm doing them to learn new techniques so it's more like I'm studying isn't it?

Phew! Grin I've got a note pad filling up nicely with planned projects and lists of yarn and colours too! Will be adding the happypotomus now and some wreaths and decorative thingies like bunting, mandalas and flowers etc for dds room.
So many ideas and colours piling up in my head....

using someone else's colours in their order makes me want to rebel

LOL. Me too. In fact, I often struggle to stick to a pattern!

SoupDragon · 05/01/2015 09:28

Unfortunately I used so yarn from different brands so some are working up bigger than others. I'm not sure what to do about that...

Blocking might fix the smaller squares (if acrylic, just hover a steam iron over the top if a pinned out square for a short while). Or you could deliberately make some much bigger/smaller/rectangular and end up with a more random patchwork affair and make it look deliberate :)

FurFoxAke · 05/01/2015 10:11

I know! I hate being a sheep! Arf. I'm not experienced enough yet to not follow the pattern but following the colour order is A Step Too Far Grin

I thought of that, I have also found that some squares are more dense than others as well because of them being slightly different thicknesses so might experiment with hook size as well.
This is my first granny square project so I'm a bit nervous about it and it seems to be getting more and more complicated!
But every day's a school day Grin

FurFoxAke · 26/01/2015 11:12

A finished blanket for dd! Took a while as I kept putting it down, but yay! One less thing on my to do list. Grin

That's beautiful FurFoxSake Smile

I've been following the thread for ages admiring everything, I really love all the Christmas wreaths.

Crocheting just seemed to click for me recently and now I'm on a roll and keep buying wool Smile I'm working on Attic24's blooming flower cushion in blues and greens at the moment and waiting for wool to arrive to try my first jumper Grin

hillbilly · 26/01/2015 12:09

That is a beautiful blanket furfox. I'm doing the cosy stripe at the moment and almost half way through. I get what you all mean about not following someone else's colour but I have done simply because I have never crocheted before and if I had to decide on colours I would agonise over it for months and never start the blanket!

SoupDragon · 26/01/2015 15:42

I've just started the Moogly CAL (Crochet A Long) blanket squares. It will be destined to be a Billie Blanket I think. Or, if I get bored (likely, going on previous experience!), a set of babette panels to put towards a Billie Blanket!!

I'm also working on a shawl CAL and stuff for the Woolly Hugs Easter sale ina bid to use up some of my stash.

ZingTheGreat · 01/02/2015 19:38

hi, can I join?

I've started crocheting again recently, and made a hat each for our 3 youngest before Christmas.
last weekend I made a cocoon for BabyZing, which is very popular with DD and she keeps using it for her afternoon naps, so naturally I'm 1/4 way into making one for her.

I've also just started making a big blanket (with a chainless foundation row, thanks to SoupDragon Thanks ) with a granny stripes pattern and also working my way through a scarf and a toy bunny and will soon start making some Woolly Hug squares. I really love crochet so I'm very happy to have re-discovered it.

I need to figure out how to post pics from tablet so I can start showing off! Grin

New hookers are always welcome :)

I've done two squares - they're about 10" square.

just seen some photos as on PC not phone - wow, you are a talented bunch!

Soupy those squares are amazing!

iklboo · 03/02/2015 10:10

I've just started to crochet crap squares for a blanket. DS has now put dibs on it. I never knew it could be so therapeutic!!

I am only doing very basic stitch at the minute (since I only learned cast on & double last week) but I'm really enjoying it.

iklboo · 03/02/2015 10:11

BTW mine definitely looks deliberately shabby chic / rustic. Ahem. As you were.

hillbilly · 04/02/2015 12:10

Half way through a Cosy blanket. A little wobbly around the edges Grin

CatsClaus · 04/02/2015 19:41

hah...i just came in to wonder if anyone else was Moogly-ing Along

I have six squares done so far. I bought, navy, denim, skyblue, walnut and chocolate...just woolcraftdk, it has to be hardwearing and washable thanks to two lardy fluffy GSDs

I went off piste and looked at last years CAL as I did not care for the first jacob's ladder square, too burly, and then found a link to 10 spare squares,

spookily the one i really wanted to do is now a pay pattern on ravelry but I had at some previous moment down loaded it to my laptop and I found it (mandala spike)

I really really like the sky, denim and walnut together so am going to stick to those colours for the blocks, keeping the walnut to the same rows, but reversing the sky and denim to give two squares to each pattern and then I shall join and edge in the chocolate and maybe more walnut.

Was also laughing at pp about the whole random issue, my giant hexagon blankie is random, almost...I had all the completed three colour hexagons in a bag and just rummaged one out, my rule was that I was only allowed to pick another IF two of the colours were the same as one of the adjoining hexes.

I'll try and log onto the mobile and put up some of the CAL squares I have.

and are we all ready for square three tomorrow? :o

the chocolate is

SoupDragon · 04/02/2015 19:54

I didn't like the Jacob's ladder square either and when I saw it first, I decided not to do the CAL. Then I saw the second and thought I'd go for it. I will make all the squares whether I like them or not as the blanket is not for me and they seem to be a good challenge from a technical point of view. I'll probably make some extra alternative squares too - I've looked at last years as well :o

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's squares as it's BabyDragon's birthday so I shall mostly be cake baking!

CatsClaus · 04/02/2015 21:51

I might do it again in the colours I like....i did buy navy as well and it looks very heavy

i can't upload pics (can't name change or log in on mobile since I have lost my password memory but if you search#mbwcrochet on instagram I have them on there.

and good luck with the cake, I am sure it'll be fab!

If you want the mandala spike I may be able to mail it to you....it's turned into a pay pattern now. which bugs the hell out of me

SoupDragon · 05/02/2015 07:12

The mandala spike one is still free I think - I am currently frogging that one actually as I miscounted on about the third row and was two whole sections short by the time I got to squaring it off!

NoMoreCake · 09/02/2015 13:02
