Did you not read the yarn bombing instructions in my post? The last one was Take a Photo!

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 09/06/2012 21:36

Soupy! I've cracked it! I'm starting the foundation for a ripple blanket for dd2 tonight :o thanks for the tutorial links :)
No yarn bombing here, I've never seen any anywhere, might start it myself

SoupDragon · 10/06/2012 07:34

Yay! It was, I thought, surprisingly easy in the end.

Help!

Does anyone know approx how many in a foundation chain for a 6" square, if working that way? I'm writing a very basic guide for the website. Tribpot has done a very detailed one for the knitty folk, but we need a Hookers guide too.

Also if anyone has a pattern for a crochet square that they use and like and would recombined I'd love to have a link. Again, we have lots of lovely patterns to link to on the website, but all knitting ones. Big fat zero for the Crocheteers right now Sad

Any help gratefully received!

Dilly Loved the yarn bombing blog, have put a pic on my profile of my effort, now I keep looking at things and thinking of more ideas. Love the idea of words though.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2012 11:20

I think mine are usually 30-36, depending on the pattern.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2012 11:35

I don't get on with ravelry :(

SoupDragon · 10/06/2012 15:25

Thanks Soupy, have sort of been overtaken by the new blanket forget but I will come back to this crochet guide. Thanks

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 06:57

Foundation chains are pretty representative of actual size, so "chain 6"+2 for turning" works pretty well. I'll count up how many rounds in a Granny when i finally hobble my way downstairs Wink

SoupDragon · 11/06/2012 10:49

I will track down the patterns I've used on Ravelry for you. But not the bear one, oh no.

I didn't write down the one I made up for the mouse.

Boat pic on profile, is it suitable?

SoupDragon · 11/06/2012 10:59

No idea if it's suitable but it is a damn fine boat!

Yes! Pidjy, that's perfect Smile

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 11:32

Its the Deutsch one, I'll pop the pattern up later (mw then lunch with mum)

Glad you like it, I'll experiment with the colour-changy ones if I have enough wool. Most of my scraps are only long anough for a few rows each!

The Soupy Bears need to remain a secret I agree Grin

SoupDragon · 11/06/2012 11:52

its not hard, you just put bear square in a Ravelry pattern search

ooooh, a crochet thread. I have been hooking my way through a few projects recently. I am well into a flowers in the snow blanket, but my literally minded 6 yo DD is insisting it should be a flowers in the field blanket, as flowers don't grow in the snow. Green instead of white is going to look like complete crap, but the blanket is for her so I'm giving in.

Ravelry, damn, what a site.

I like crocheting and am very new to it... is it normal for the abbreviations to hurt my head so much?!! Blush

SoupDragon · 11/06/2012 15:48

Yes :) Wait til you have to mentally convert between UK and US terminology.

Although it does become second nature after a while :)

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 11/06/2012 17:51

Oh yeah, that one's in English! American is just Minus One (double = single etc)

Anyone going to test my German translation skills???

GiraffeAHolic · 11/06/2012 17:52

I started a granny square to test two colours together and got completely a bit carried away so apparently I'm now making a blue and cream baby throw that is one huge granny square :)

Uk to Us terminology is a killer to start with. especially if you've abandoned a project for a while, you return to it and can't for the life of you remember it's Uk double crocheted or Us double crocheted (disclaimer - this could well just be me Blush)
