Quiche-tastic.

Oh, I've longed to be in a quiche for ages :)
I am ok with both knitting and crochet, but one needle is easier for me.
My mum recently gave me some lovely cotton, but it's discontinued so if anyone has any ideas for 250g of lovely white mercerised Patons cotton, then let me know. My mum would like it to be something for me, but I'm not really a shawly person (26) so am drawing a blank. Have some lovely cardigans pinned on pinterest, but am short on cotton :(

KnottyLocks · 03/06/2012 19:25

How about a little bag?

KnottyLocks · 03/06/2012 19:26

You could mix the White with another colour cotton too.

PurplePidjinghamPalace · 03/06/2012 19:31

Dishcloths, face cloths, makeup removal pads...

Sunhat, beach bag, phone/kindle case...

Get thee to ravelry.com and lose a few days hours browsing :o

PurpleFrog · 03/06/2012 19:43

You could always look on eBay and see if you can pick up some more of the same yarn. I expect that the lot number won't matter too much for White!

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 03/06/2012 19:57

Oh no I can't spend all that time and love making something for it to get dirty - I get all twitchy if my crocheted cushions are on the floor!

Maybe a bag yes....hmmm.....I must be the only knitter/hooker not obsessed with ravelry but I just prefer pinterest. Probably just as much on there and easier to search and see pictures before clicking.

I did look on ebay, but what I found was crazy dear and I can't justify it - labels are still on from when my mum bought it and was 50p each! Another colour would be nice, maybe black and white?

Bumperlicious · 03/06/2012 23:06

Hello all. I'm crocheting a lamp shade! Watch this space...

KnottyLocks · 04/06/2012 07:56

Bumper, MmeLindor is looking for someone to blog about yarnbombing for her online pre-teen magazine 'Shout'. Would you be interested? I know you've blogged about yarnbombing and June 9th is Yarnbombing day Grin

Good luck with the lampshade. I would love to have a go at one once I get a bit of spare time. Are you following a pattern of making it up as you go along?
Ireally like this one

MoaningMajestyReignsAgain · 05/06/2012 19:57

Just in case anyone fancies it, Erika Knight has a crochet book out - Crochet Workshop and BookPeople have it for 4.99 (also free delivery on £15 spend with code JUBIL33 ) The code expires today - I have some of her knitting books and like them, my copy came on Friday and there seems to be plenty for beginners like me.

There are some nice necklace-y type things in it.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/06/2012 13:40

I am trying to master a crochet star. Go me. Grin

But its pointy things aren't pointy enough. Sad times.

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 06/06/2012 13:44

Add an extra chain to the corner? Or take one away if it's too floppy?

I have left the cotton for now, until I decide what to do with it. Am toying with mini doilies for now, thinking about a necklace like one I've seen on pinterest.

How many wips do other people hae btw? I have a few Blush

PurplePidjin · 06/06/2012 14:10

You are ready for Picot, Pistey!

When you get to the corner, chain 2 then slip stitch in the same stitch (wiggle it a bit to get it in)

Creates a nice little point

Bumperlicious · 06/06/2012 20:51

Knotty, thanks, have been meaning to do a yarn bombing post for mme lindor's blog for a while now.

As for the lampshade, no, it's more like this, pretty cumbersome crocheting with a massive frame on my lamp. As for the lampshade you linked to I have already made one like that inspired by the exact one you linked to! Here, another link but I must NC before posting any more links to my blog!

SoupDragon · 07/06/2012 15:44

I am so excited... I've just learnt to do a chainless triple crochet foundation via you tube (technically it was double crochet though as it was American :))

not content with that, I learnt to do it for a ripple blanket and mentally adapted the instructions to fit the Attic24 Ripple [smug]

But if you see Pistey, I've been at the post office for hours OK??

OP posts:
FormerlyTitledUntidy · 07/06/2012 15:49

Soupy Envy Which youtube tutorial did you use? I've nearly thrown the laptop out the window trying to learn, and I'm due another ripple :)

Does noone else have loads of wips? Blush Blush Blush

SoupDragon · 07/06/2012 15:58
They seem to be doing a 3 increase, 4 straight, 3 decrease ripple whereas Attic 24 is 2-4-2

once you visualise in your head that the first bit of the stich creates the chan and you then complete the DC into it, it makes sense. I've tried before but had a lightbulb moment this time.

you need to practise with a first though.

SoupDragon · 07/06/2012 16:00

On the WIP fontenot, I have my own ripple and my Ugly Blanket and some red white and blue bunting which is probably too late now! Plus two baby blankets to be started and finished by the end of term.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 07/06/2012 16:00

WIP front. Lord knows what autocorrect did there.

OP posts:
aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 07/06/2012 17:16

The chainless foundation row looks interesting I shall give it ago later on. I'm still really pleased with myself for mastering the magic ring.

I have 2 WIPs and ordered wool for a third project yesterday.

I'm working on a Flowers in Snow blanket, but I am toying with the idea of making it into cushion covers instead and a Circles in Squares blanket.

I'm tempted to try a ripple but I'm not very good at working on large all-in-one type blankets. I seem to prefer squares that can be joined up at the end

SoupDragon · 07/06/2012 18:20

I've finished my foundation row and am impressed. I did have to concentrate and frogged rather a lot but the bottom edge hasn't puckered up and it's completely stretchy.

Very pleased!

Today is International YarnBombing Day! Anyone joining in? I snuck out early and bombed my neighbours' houses Grin

SoupDragon · 09/06/2012 11:43

Hmmm... if I find the time I may mane another sun to attach to my road name. The first was too cute to abandon to the elements.

Brew
DillyTante · 09/06/2012 12:01

Photo knotty?

I've done two. I won't gratuitously link to my blog again but here is a link to one I did for an online magazine for girls set up by a mumsnetter.

KnottyLocks · 09/06/2012 13:46

I saw that earlier, Dilly Grin Fabulous!

No pics, sorry. I just did a bunch of daisies that I attached to the front of the houses in our street. Was a last minute throw it together last night type effort Smile
