I'm thinking of it being mo decorative...perhaps an autumn/spring weight "keep the breeze off" kind of scarf."

Mine is definately decorative/keep the breeze off.
Everytime I wore it last year I had loads of compliments, I'm going to have a squeeze of some yarns in the wool shop next week and choose something cosy to make another one

PurplePidjin · 16/09/2012 14:41

WIPS List:
Pram blanket for PidjChick - on 4th and final square
Rainbow snake - halfway through Indigo
Cardy, bootees and dungarees - need buttons
Cable scarf for me - ongoing, will get dumped at bottom of pile!
MrsY's blanket - 3 more rows, join columns, edge
Little Hugs and Refuge Squares

I also have a half made pair of dungarees to sew, and the nursery furnishings to make... Thank god for unemployment :o

When I change colour, I pull the new one through the last loop of the old, one, then pull the old loop tight, snip the old colour with a 2inch or so tail and knot the new and old ends together. Then I crochet over the tails.

Morning all... can you help?
I've had a request from a friend for a tea cosy and oven glove, and would like to make them in a matching stitch/style. I have done a felted oven glove before which my friend covets, but I'm not good enough to do a tea cosy without a pattern, so has anyone come across a pattern for a felted tea cosy?
(I looked on ravelry but none of them are felted - although if I can't find a specific pattern I will just try one and try to make it much bigger so its about right size by the time its been shrunk/felted)
Thanks if anyone can help...

SoupDragon · 17/09/2012 11:31

There are knitted ones on Ravelry - can you take the sizing from those and work one out? No idea. Lots come up when you google "felted tea cosy" as well - can they be adapted?

Right, I've found my local wool shop.

Because I'm going to make a complete Little Hug and enclose a note explaining why it might look a bit rubbish in places I think I can use any wool as long as it's nice and soft and wash friendly, yes?

Can anyone, PLEASE point me at a range of wool sold here, within any category that would be suitable?

I am completely lost. And my test blanket is going curvy/triangular AGAIN and I can't think why! I must be either missing stitches or doing one too many...

LollipopViolet · 17/09/2012 12:02

Ah, there's also a shop in the next town that stocks Stylecraft, but it's a fair trek...

Wolfcub · 17/09/2012 12:44

Lollipop, I would go and have a squeeze of the DK wools and see what feels nice and has the colours you are looking for.

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2012 12:51

This looks good I'm making cellular blankets for PidjChick in a similar mix

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2012 12:58

If you can get to the shop, they might know of classes you could do, or someone to give you some pointers (if we don't have a blanketeer nearby?)

LollipopViolet · 17/09/2012 13:35

I'm going to the shop tomorrow, and will check out the other one soon too - I think there are some ladies in there who offer pointers so I'll take my practice efforts if it goes wrong again (so far so good!)

Pidj, I love some of those colours! Also, when is PidjChick due and and do you know what kind of Chick it will be? :)
