Dear all lovely ladies past, present and future. Welcome to support thread number two, to help us through the anxious TTC waiting, early scary weeks of pregnancy, nasty scans and tests, growing bumps and babies and everything in between. May this thread bring luck and (eventual) joy to us all and at least we'll all be here to hold eachothers' hands along the way. x

Hi ladies, a very quick post tonight but I wanted to thank you, as usual, for your thoughts, and to let you know that the scan went well today. We've seen "our" professor and he said everything looks perfect and he has no reason whatsoever to be concerned. So we are relieved and all thoughts of a real baby, which I have been suppressing so far, seem to have hit me suddenly...

I hate to post and run, but I'll be back in all my glory tomorrow, I've been reading but haven't been able to write. Thanks again for holding my hand xxxx

Havingkittens · 23/12/2010 19:31

Fantastic news coffee, I'm so pleased. Now you can enjoy Christmas with a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye.

I have just come back from my lovely doctors who has referred me on the NHS to Dr Shehata so fingers crossed he will see me without me having to pay privately. My doctor is so sweet, he uses the most amusing superlatives, starting his referral letters with things like "I would like to refer this delightful lady...". He said he will help in any way he can and that anytime I need to see him I should drop him in a note (the surgery is 3 mins from my door) and he will get me an appointment that day. My last doctor was a complete waste of time, so this is a refreshing change!

Cantdothisagain · 23/12/2010 22:09

Fab Christmas news, Coffee, that's great.

Kittens, your GP sounds fab. Ours are actually v efficient, but there are millions of them in a medical centre so you never see the same one twice. Not complaining as can always get an appointment v easily, whereas at old practice it was like asking for a meeting with the Pope, but yours sounds special.

Happy Christmas, everyone. I know there will be sadness and grieving amidst the feasting and presents, and I am thinking particularly of those people recently bereaved and TTC.

Coffeeandchocolate · 24/12/2010 09:14

Hello everyone, I finally have some time to write a proper post. This last week at work has been manic, I travelled a lot so I?ve only been able to check the thread on my mobile, and was too knackered in the evening to write anything which would make any sense.

Kittens, I don?t know how you could not feel angered and frustrated and sad, it?s been a hell of a year for you. I said it before but I really am amazed at how you always manage to bounce back and never lose hope. Great news about your referral, and that you have such support from your doctor. I really hope that luck will change next year, for you and everyone else in here TTC .

Ghislaine, it?s great you?ve been given the all clear. I hope your relatives won?t give you too much grief this Christmas.

Kittens, please put some photos of little Felix in his outfit on your profile, I?m sure he?ll be adorable!

Sarah, welcome back in here, and I hope it will help you to have someone to ?talk? to. It?s not great that your DH refuses to talk about your pregnancy, on the other hand he must have been so affected by your losses and must be terrified, it?s obviously just his way of coping. Fingers crossed everything will go well this time and you?ll have good news in the new year. Please just come and talk to us when you feel like it, there will always be someone in here to hold your hand.

Gina, only 6 weeks to go, wow! I hope you?re feeling better, I?ve also been battling a cold for the last 10 days or so.

Mishta, great news about your house, you must be so excited! It has just occurred to me that this is the first Christmas for the thread babies, Bella, Josie, Littlemisscantdo, Felix, Littlestar and also Shangrila?s and Lins? little ones.

Right, now that I have a bit of time I could go on forever. I should really go and do some baking and also clean this house a little bit instead of spending too much time on MN! It?s just me and my DH this Christmas, so we?ll just take it easy at home.

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas ladies, much love xxxx

flower11 · 24/12/2010 09:41

Thats great news coffee.

Just a quick pop in as im actually at work, then have to go home to a house full of relatives. Wishing everyone a peaceful christmas.
much love xx

NatzCNL · 24/12/2010 11:23

Hi everyone, just a quick post from me as my OH is ill - again! So manically trying to get Christmas sorted by myself.
I just wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas. Manitz, sorry about your BFN, I was 6 days late but was just my body still not back to normal, I also was imagining an August baby. Fingers crossed for next month!
Coffee, great news about the scan, I hope you are now able to enjoy your christmas.
Kittens, so glad your GP is supportive and that you are getting to where you need to be. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Mishta, glad you are in your new house before Christmas! Enjoy.
Katie, I hope Felix is ok and you get back to a proper sleep routine soon.
Gina, 6 weeks to go - hooray!
Sorry for short posts and hello to everyone else. Will pop back on after Christmas, I hope you all have a stress free one xxxx

Cherrybug · 24/12/2010 14:26

A very quick note just to say I hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Christmas.

Coffee - I'm really pleased to hear about your positive scan and hope that its an extra special Christmas for you now.

Kittens - good to read about your excellent GP and his ability to understand what you need. There are so many indifferent GPs that its nice to read of someone who can do the job so well. I hope that you have a relaxing time over the holidays.

Everyone TTC - good luck over the hols and may 2011 be our year. I think I ovulated yesterday (but not sure what my cycles are doing at the moment) so we SWI and will see what the end of the year brings.

Everyone else - lots of love xx

Dramamama · 24/12/2010 15:07

MimsyStarr · 26/12/2010 23:45

Hi everyone, Happy Christmas, hope we all managed to enjoy the day in one way or another.

We had Christmas at our house for the first time, was a bit nervous about turkey etc. But seemed to go well. Until I woke up at 4am with severe V&D! I imagined we had poisoned everyone, but a ring round in the morning established it was only me... I must have got the one dodgy oyster. Just typical of my luck. Angry

Manitz sorry about the BFN.

Ghislane, I am glad you got the all clear. And Coffee,a relief to hear the good news from your Professor.

Drama, good to hear from you. I am glad you are nearly there. And Gina too!

Thanks for asking after me Cant. I have had a hell month, very long story about which I cannot post on here. I have RL support, and counting down the days until I see my family ... less than a month now!

Kittens, thinking of you lots. this Dr shehata sounds like a genius. I hope y9u can get an appointment soon. X

rushingrachel · 29/12/2010 11:45

Just to say hope everyone had a happy Christmas and wishing you all a peaceful start to the new year. Haven't been around for a while because work and life have been hectic. A "mere" 8 and a bit weeks to go now and we will find out if everything is really ok. Fingers crossed. Best to all you lovely ladies. xx

Havingkittens · 29/12/2010 14:36

Mimsy, sorry to hear you've had a rough month. I hope, at least, you are feeling better and not throwing up anymore. Poor you!

So, is Rachel's going to be the first 2011 thread baby? It's going to be a busy 3 months I think. Who's due when?

Dramamama · 30/12/2010 22:07

I know Gina, coffee and myself are pretty close together kittens, in that order also i believe i'm due on the 9th march so i defo won't be the 1st...i hope not anyway Confused.
Went to see the mw today and my mischivious little madam is currently breach but she has 6 weeks yet in which to turn around so fingers crossed!
hope everyones doing well and had lovely christmas' poor mimsy hope your feeling better and if not i hope you do soon xx

GinaFB · 30/12/2010 22:35

Hi ladies

hope you are all ok and Christmas wasn't too stressful!

Drama & Kittens, I'm due 1st Feb! Totally shattered! Coffee aren't you late Feb??

It's getting pretty real now Shock

GinaFB · 30/12/2010 22:37

Posted before I was done!!

Drama, hope baby turns, I've heard acupuncture works!!

Mimsy hope you're feeling better.

Love to all xx

Havingkittens · 31/12/2010 00:51

Drama, better start scrubbing the skirting boards. Isn't that supposed to get them turning the right way? Something to do with the angle of you bending down to ground level with your bum in the air, or so I've heard!

Coffeeandchocolate · 31/12/2010 09:48

Hi ladies, how is everyone? Mimsy, I hope you?re feeling better. Glad to hear you have RL support, hopefully 2011 will be a better year.

Drama, good to hear from you and that mini Drama is well and active. I?ve read that using a gym ball helps position the baby, it seems to be anything that makes you shake your hips actually. Very glamorous?Wink

Kittens, how are you? I hope you?ve been well looked after this Christmas. I?m keeping everything crossed that 2011 will be your year, your (bad) luck just has to change!

Gina, I?m due on 29th February and I?m already losing my patience. I?m agonising at the moment over the decision to have or not to have the flu jab, I?ll do some travelling for work in January and early February. Damned if I do, damned if I don?t. Anyway, I seem to have turned into a basket case, I really don?t like the person I?ve become, I fear I?ve managed to get this far but something terrible can strike any time and take it all away. The eternal optimist that I am? I?m driving my DH insane and then he is driving me insane by always dismissing my worries!!!

I hope everyone else is well. Poot, only a few weeks to go, are you feeling ok? How is Dot? Happy New Year to all, you are now too many to mention. Xxxx

PS: Mishta, how is the new house?

GinaFB · 31/12/2010 11:58

Coffee, had the same problem re the flu jab, decided not to. The thing that swung it for me was a family friend who is a Retired GP who said there was no way he would have it as he didn't feel it had been tested enough long term. Now ofcourse I'm a nervous wreck about getting swine flu!!

When are you finishing work? I'm done now and the relief of knowing I can just rest is incredible! I just want him out now!

Coffeeandchocolate · 31/12/2010 15:15

I'm finishing work in about 5 weeks, and January will be manic... But in a way I'm happy I'll be busy, as my mind goes into overdrive otherwise.

Interesting about the vaccine, what I am worried about are the possible long term effects, I know most children have no problem but what if there are some who do, and it's not something which shows in the first couple of years after they are born? But then of course I'm equally worried about getting swine flu and jeopardising my pregnancy this way.

I guess this is just one more thing to worry about, you can't win, can you?

LittlePoot · 31/12/2010 16:46

Afternoon all. Sorry for the quietness from here - happy to say that all is well, which is kind of why I've not been posting much. Dot's getting huge and kicking like a maniac. Seems to be the right way up (or rather down) already and is due just a couple of days after baby Gina. So only 5 weeks to go.....impossible to believe. I'm having only very occasional worries now about everything being ok. I think there's just so many possible problems still 'available' that my brain has blocked them all out and decided that this time, everything just has to be normal. This whole pregnancy has been delightfully average, so I've decided that's going to continue. I think that's my wish for everyone here in 2011 - lots of averageness and normalness. Its about time too for all of us.

In case it helps for the flu jab, I had mine happily a couple of weeks ago. I think all the talk of the jab not being tested is unfortunately rather over the top - its the same jab they use every year in loads of places all over the world and they just added the swine flu strain (a dead version) to the seasonal mix this year. Nothing special about the swine flu strain as far as the vaccination goes, so absolutely no reason it should affect anything. But what's special about swine flu itself is that younger people are more likely to catch it and pregnant women and babies are more likely to die from it. Most seasonal flu hits old people hardest, but this one gets us young 'uns. Especially those with reduced lung capacity - like us pregnant ones. I'm all for vaccinations in general, in all shapes and sizes, and had no worries (and no side effects) at all about this one. Would personally be much more worried about getting the flu, with or without swines.

Anyway, really sorry to hear about the nasty tummy bugs too - that's rotten! Hope everyone's better now. Crazy Cat - you there honey? Hope all's well with you too.

Lots of love to everyone and very best wishes for the New Year. Really hoping it'll be a good one all round. xxxxxxxxx

Happy New Year to everyone here. May 2011 be good to us all! X

Coffeeandchocolate · 01/01/2011 10:46

Happy New Year lovely ladies, may it bring us all happy healthy babies! And a big thank you as well to the old-timers who are still here with us, offering support and holding hands. Getting all emotional now, stupid hormones Blush xxxx

Mishtabel · 01/01/2011 12:09

Oh your so welcome Coffee :) Great news on your appointment with the professor BTW. I plan on sticking around until every one of you are holding your own baby in your arms. I get all emotional too, thinking of where I was this time last year - and Coffee, that was pretty much where you are now; so scared something was still going to go wrong at some stage, but alas, here is little Bella, just gone 11 months old and healthy as an ox. She was thoroughly spoiled at Christmas Blush and is loving the space of the new house (as we all are). Will update the blog soon with some photos and maybe a quick video.

Mimsy, sorry you've had a hard time recently. Hope your trip down under makes up for it a bit, and that the weather will be kind - lots of rain up QLD recently I believe. The dreadful weather in Britain has been all over the news here - hope the worst is over for you all

It's so good to know there will be some more thread babies very soon - time has gone very quick, though probably not for you all.

Kittens, good luck with your referral - may this year be the one for you, and for all those here TTC, the very best of luck to you all xx

A big hello, love and Happy New Year to everyone xxxxx

NumptyMum · 02/01/2011 22:40

Hi all - sorry been so quiet, had no internet access for ages as we were at my folks.

Great to catch up on the news; reassuring scan for Coffee, referral to (hopefully helpful) doctor for Kittens, due dates approaching etc. Drama, DS was breach and someone recommended 1) bum in air, elbows on ground (eg scrubbing floor, as already suggested) and 2) bag of frozen peas by baby's head and torch on your tum lower down. Theory being that babe thinks 'crikey I've got a headache, I'll move away from here and oh, what's that interesting light over there, I'll just head down to have a look'. Made me laugh about it anyway!

Re flu injection, I also panicked about this. I had the injection, thinking I'd feel terrible if I lost the baby due to not having it; then worried that by having it in 2nd trimester it might have bearing on the development as so much is going on at that stage. However a friend who's a GP said similar to Poot and in the end I felt reassured by that. Hard choice though; but the odds either way of problems are very slim.

Mimsy - so sorry to hear you've had a rotten month; I'd love to catch up with you soon now that we're back in town.

Mishtabel - so glad you're in your house and don't need to move any more! Hope you really enjoy settling in.

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone: those expecting the almost not expected babies, and those TTC that you will also be expecting by the end of 2011 if not before...

GinaFB · 03/01/2011 01:40

I am officially claiming first thread baby of 2011!

Baby Alexander Charles was born at 8.13 pm today weighing 5lbs 8oz. Very quick delivery 6 hours from start of contractions!!

Will post more soon!

Xxxx

LittlePoot · 03/01/2011 09:12

Oh my goodness Gina-congratulations!!!! That must have been a bit of a surprise so well done you! God, and there's me thinking there's no way Dot would be making an appearance for at least six more weeks...maybe I should actually start buying some baby stuff....

So happy for you sweetie and really glad all went well. xxx
