Scotland? Surely our cottage is in Dorset? What I do know is that is has a small tasteful Christmas tree, and lovely warm porridge this morning with brown sugar on.

Anyone wishing to park themselves on the thread bench today is most welcome, I have a (mummy) baby well-being scan today and hope to find the baby is back head down again not breech...
Am stressing quite a bit about this, AND the fact that I seemed to have developed SPD, and got my morning sickness back, and can't sleep, and get horrible sensations like being strangled from inside, and my feet are all swollen. (feeling a bit sorry for myself, didn't mean to come on here and moan).

Kittens, I have been reading my antenatal thread but never did join - just couldn't do it.

Gosh it's a dark gloomy day outside here. More rain, yay. Anyone else got a bit of brightness?

xxx

Mishta · 30/12/2009 09:20

Just thought I'd see if there were any updates. Mmmm..must be patient

I'd say good luck with your scan Lins, but I'm sure you don't need it. Hope bubs is head down for you. I felt like you were describing me, right down to the spd (which I didn't even know existed until this pregnancy - was much easier in my 20's than at 40!).

Kitten, glad your feeling at home. The cottage is a lovely place to be. Understanding, support and no judgement for what some may think to be strange ways of thinking.

Btw, like your description of the cottage Tree, wherever it may be - I'll just go along with you guys on that one.

Still rainy here too. Big hello to everyone else xxxx

We've got sleet here... makes DIY a more attractive option, anyway. I'm cleaning bath tiles from when I tiled the bath 2.5 years ago (just before DS was born) and never bothered getting the grout out of the cheap mosaic tiles. Now it's set rock hard. Grumph.

I might abandon the task.

Hoping everyone else has a dark cosy day, rather than a dark dreary day. Dark days can be nice sometimes if you are warm and not having to go out... Lins, hoping your trip out is rewarded by pic of baby heading in right direction .

Cantdothisagain · 30/12/2009 11:41

Mmm, impatient here too for news...

Katie/Kittens... I've been pregnant four times. There have been similarities in how I've felt in early pregnancy each time (going off sweet things, wanting salt) but actually each pregnancy has been quite different. The one where I was sickest was the chromosomal problem one. I was really sicky for a couple of weeks early on, struggling to eat anything or get in the car. I wonder if there is a link between chromosomal problem and nausea...?! Anyway disregarding my unscientific experience, I do think pregnancies can be very different and sickness can kick in at different times. In my third, I was okay till 13 weeks then started feeling rotten! But I know the anxiety, and I sympathize... Oh and I'm not joining any official antenatal threads - my experience feels too far removed.

Good luck with the scan, Lins, hope baby has moved! Have you been doing lots of bending over or whatever it is you're meant to do to turn breech babies?

The weather here is vile too. Boo. We built a snowman a week ago and he is still standing proudly. I wonder if he will ever melt.
We should all gatecrash Bee's romantic Parisian jaunt!

linspins · 30/12/2009 11:54

Hi all, back from scan, all well in that department. Midwife and consultant were subjected to me bursting in to tears about feeling so horrid and achey - they are quite used to it now from me. Baby nicely head down, and probably has been all along. My midwife at the docs maybe couldn't feel the head down low cos it's really deep in my pelvis. Engaged and ready to go..7lb 2 ish already. Yikes.
Consultant (who is so sweet) suggested I could be induced before term if I wanted just to help with the physical and emotional stress of it all. She said sometimes just by having a date, it can help you feel better, like a definite end is in sight! So I said how about wait till 39 weeks and go for it then if nothing has happened. But might come out naturally before that. Watch this space.

Just had a nice toasted tea cake and Dd watching Annie on dvd (so we'll have to act out scenes later!!).

It's a Snuggle down on the sofa day isn't it.
xxxxx

katiecubs · 30/12/2009 12:16

Perhaps if we shout JUUUUUSSSSTTTTAAAAAAAA - she will hear and update us - excited!

Glad the scan went well lins and that the baby is ready to make it's entrance soon.

I actually have a scan at 4pm today so if you could all cross your fingers for me that would be great. Funnily enough (after complaining about lack of symptoms yesterday) i threw up this morning - sods law.

Funny you should mention about the m/s and chromosomal abnormalities Can't - i had the same thoughts and did a little investigation. It's not the case with all but for T21 and Turners syndrome (with csytic hygroma/hydrops) HCG levels are likely to be significantly higher. Hopefully it mean it's a good thing i'm not feeling so rough this time around.

Cantdothisagain · 30/12/2009 12:28

Great news Lins. Good for Babylins to be nicely in the right place and deep down!

Katie, sending you good luck vibes! Am sure you don't need them. Interesting about the nausea and T21/Turners, as the baby I lost to chromosomal problems had Turners... and a huge cystic hygroma...

Come back and tell us how it went!

NumptyMum · 30/12/2009 12:40

Lins - glad that scan went well and baby ready to go (though hopefully not QUITE yet!!). Enjoy your snuggling on sofa time.

Cant and Katie - my pregnancy with DS had no symptoms that I can recall, with Iola I was badly tired (going to bed at 8pm) and I think I also started to feel sick around the time most books say sickness is going (10wks??). This time I'm about same as with DS, not too tired and not sick. Having said that, I think Lins was sick AND tired early in this pregnancy and things are going fine for her now . But I know what you mean, when having no symptoms you can worry that things aren't going well... perhaps the throwing up was to give you reassurance!!

Will be waiting on that thread bench outside the hospital when you go for your scan; will keep fingers crossed. How many weeks are you now - would this be 6 or 7?

Hoping Justa is getting quality time with new baby...

Havingkittens · 30/12/2009 13:00

Lins, good to hear all went well. V exciting! Sorry you're feeling so crap though, hopefully not for too much longer.

Katie, best of luck with your scan.

I have had brief symptoms. I felt quite sick and threw up on Christmas eve, but I can't tell if that was psychosomatic or symptomatic as I'd just found out the day before and haven't felt sick since. I was also pretty tired over Christmas and had the shakes really badly on Boxing day - which was pretty funny because it was pretty much this time last year that I found out I was pregnant too and also had really bad shakes on Boxing day. Haven't had them since, same as last time. At the moment though I am very hormonal, ie. emotional and occasionally on the morose side. Not all the time, but more than I'd like to be. Also keep dropping things. I'm not complaining about lack of symptoms, I'm relishing the time I don't feel vile as I did for most of my last 2 pregnacies. Not so much for the first one but that was a MMC anyway so that could explain that.

I'm pondering whether I can manage to go to the sales in Oxford St this afternoon without killing anyone or bursting into tears

Havingkittens · 30/12/2009 13:16

Forgot to mention the crampy twinges. This is normal right? I keep trying to remind myself that stuff is going on in there and I'm bound to feel something as a result. I think I remember this thought process from the past, although I remember more 'pulling' type sensations previously - as in ligaments stretching, but maybe also crampy feelings too. Doing my utmost to try and keep the paranoia gremlins away!

NumptyMum · 30/12/2009 14:04

I'm pretty sure I had crampy twinges last time, don't remember this time but there was a large space between last 2 pregnancies and not a large space between this one, if that makes sense. I looked a bit 'who ate all the pies' even before getting pregnant this time so I don't think expansion was required... Hope that helps fend off paranoia gremlins...

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 14:16

Had oodles of them Kittens, very very normal. Especially if you have been active.

katiecubs · 30/12/2009 18:08

Thanks so much for your support ladies - i can't imagine it's much fun sitting on the bench in this weather

Just got back from my scan and it was good news - everything looked fine and there was a good heartbeat. They dated me at 7+2. I'm so relieved, i know i still have a long way to go but at least i can relax a bit for now.

Kittens i have also been having all sorts of ccramps - high, low, sharp, dull etc. I asked the nurse and she said it's very normal and not to worry unless the pain gets very bad or it's coupled with bleeding.

NumptyMum · 30/12/2009 18:08

Been keeping fingers crossed for Katie...

NumptyMum · 30/12/2009 18:09

X posts! Good news!! phew.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 18:20

Yay!

Cantdothisagain · 30/12/2009 20:01

Great news, Katie!

linspins · 30/12/2009 20:25

Hurrah Katie! It's a long haul but that's a great start! xxxx

Havingkittens · 30/12/2009 21:35

Thanks for the words of reassurance girls. Glad to hear the scan went well Katie

Mishta · 31/12/2009 00:57

Congrats Lins and Katie on your scans. Good baby is headed in right direction Lins, no wonder you feel so uncomfortable though! And Katie, I remember reading that once a heartbeat can be detected, risk of mc is greatly reduced

Kittens, I almost always get period-like cramps in early pregnancy - did with this one too, now I'm almost 36 weeks. When I have mc'd in the past it has always started off with bleeding, with cramps not occurring til days later.

Tree, going to look for the tumeric extract tabs today. Any suggestions for what to do about restless legs? - they drive me insane at night

Still rainy here. Wish it would storm - love a summer storm. Take care everyone xxxx

Mishta · 31/12/2009 08:05

PS. Happy new year everyone, may 2010 be filled with happiness and love for you all xxx

Eulalia · 31/12/2009 11:55

Hi folks, am miles behind with the posts so hope I've not missed anything. Just want to pop on quickly to wish you all a Happy Hogmanay and hope 2010 is THE year for happiness and wishes fulfilled.

Had a quiet and lazy Christmas which is just what I wanted. Sister has just left after a couple of days visit so was good to have a bit of help with the kids. Temperature has barely risen above 2C for 2 weeks now, lots of ice frozen over old snow and last night new snow, more forceast..... wood for the fire has frozen together so its hard work just keeping warm. Was thinking of a ceilidh tonight but the roads may be bad so probably just stay in.

See you all next year

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 31/12/2009 17:35

Mishta - it's probably caused by fluid retention, so really good support tights would be good. I wore anti-ambolism socks at work to try prevent it!

Hello Eulalia! It's lovely to hear from you.

Happy New Year lovely ladies

katiecubs · 31/12/2009 17:47

Thanks for your congrats Ladies 1 down and another very scary one coming up in 4 weeks!

Hope you all have a fab New Years - me and OH are just staying in with an Marks and Sparks party pack, can't be arsed trudging out in the cold and pretending to drink!

Mishta sounds like you and Lins are at a very similar stage - wonder who will be first xx
