If it was just them involved for instance because why waste time on people who have no regard for not only their safety but that of others. Of course this hasnt actually happened but I cant help thinking like this when someone is acting like a complete dick overtaking in dangerous places etc driving way too fast.

You'd be happy to drive away / walk away and let someone die?

TheFallenMadonna · 13/06/2010 18:13

YABU

Of course.

toccatanfudge · 13/06/2010 18:13

what the first two comments say

BreevandercampLGJ · 13/06/2010 18:14

How terribly Christian of you.

OrmRenewed · 13/06/2010 18:14

Eh??

Gosh! Potentially dying due to lack of medical attention seems a bit harsh as a punishment

Jamieandhismagictorch · 13/06/2010 18:14

YANBU to think it when someone has just endangered you, and themselves

YWBU to do it (naturally)

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:15

I dont remember saying i'd be happy to let someone die...just that I wouldnt want to waste my time on people who have so little regard for their safety and that of others. And no im not christian, not at all.

OP posts:
RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:18

If I didnt stop that doesnt mean I wouldnt call emergency services etc... just helping etc when people have been so totally wreckless as to endanger their lives is what I would struggle with.

OP posts:
NormaStanleyFletcher · 13/06/2010 18:18

Somebody's mother, brother, sister, father, son, daughter, uncle, aunt etc

Another human being?

YABU

Although when I saw the BMW driver who had tailgated me pulled over a few miiles later by a marked police car I did smile....

AMumInScotland · 13/06/2010 18:19

I'm glad the emergency services don't take that attitude, or the NHS. The value of a person's life doesn't depend on your good opinion of their behaviour.

Would you really leave children orphaned, or an elderly relative without any help, just because you think their relative wasn't driving to your standards?

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:20

Yep- another human being who doesnt think about how much danger they put innocent people at.

I guess it sounds harsh but moronic road users really do anger me.

OP posts:
Rockbird · 13/06/2010 18:20

What do you want, a pat on the back? What's provoked this random outburst?

TrappedinSuburbia · 13/06/2010 18:23

what jamieandhismagictorch said.

I would definetly think 'you bloody idiot' but I know I would definetly help.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:24

Well nearly being hit head on today by a moron who was overtaking on the other side of the road rather than going at the 50mph speed limit.
But thats fine who cares if my children become orphans my husband a widower, woe betide anyone think badly of the people who endanger life of people who DO drive properly.

OP posts:
LittleMissHissyFit · 13/06/2010 18:32

oh fgs, are you honestly that bored that this is the best idea for a thread that you could come up with????

You have gone entirely the wrong way about this. All of us have had some twunt leave the idiotic overtaking until the last minute, and scare the bejeezus out of us, but to start a thread saying you actually wouldn't stop and help????

Argh!!!!, TROT ON....

tethersend · 13/06/2010 18:33

What about the moron's children, spouse, parents?

Were the moron injured, could you justify to them your inertia?

AMumInScotland · 13/06/2010 18:35

Feel free to think badly of him, I don't think anyone is saying you'd be wrong to do that. But if you count yourself a decent person (including such things as driving responsibly) then I think you have to also be decent in other ways too, like helping people in the case of an accident.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:36

Ermm no LittleMiss I wont trot on actually...its the way and have as much right to voice that as the next person really. So yeh im being unreasonable- nearly get killed, dont think anything bad about the person who is at fault for being a gormless cunt.

OP posts:
ladysybil · 13/06/2010 18:36

lgj, thats not a nice thing to say at all.

JackBauerDeservedAHappyEnding · 13/06/2010 18:37

Yes, YABU.
I went to help a young boy who had taken a corner way too fast on his bike and come off, nearly hitting a tree.
Was totally his fault. No question, if he hadn't been speeding he wouldn't have come off.

I still stopped, comforted him, reassured his friends, talked to him and looked after him as best I could until the ambulance that I called got there, then i got in my car and let loose a stream of fury that he had been such a twat. Wasn't going to tell him that though, the fact that he was being bluelighted to hospital with a serious leg injury would be enough of a message IMO.

What about passengers? Would you let them be injured and in pain and drive merrily on?
Have you never EVER fucked up in a car? Skidded on ice? taken a corner slightly too fast? misjudged a road and got it wrong?
Even just swerving could cause an accident that woudl be YOUR fault, so shoudl we all ignore you?

Think bad of them all you want, I do as well, I would still help anyone that had been in an accident though.

Gigantaur · 13/06/2010 18:38

YAB ridiculously U.

So if someone is hurt through their own fault then they do not deserve assitance?

So you wouldn't help a child that fell off a swing? or a builder that bashed his own finger? or an overweight person who had a heart attack?

most accidents or health issues are in some way caused by the persons actions.

I'm presuming that the OP has never made a mistake, or been thoughtless. YABU of course, how could you have that on your consience.
